Our school provides quality education to Anangu learners to participate fully in 21st Century Australia and reach their potential - educationally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. I have been CEO/Principal since 2010, and I am proud to be associated with a College that is genuinely responsive to the direction provided by Anangu with relation to education. This occurs through our board's governance and guidance and innovative surveying of the community by trained Anangu researchers. We continue to develop links throughout the TriState region and strive to lead and learn from other remote schools and educators. Providing private secondary education is not an easy task, but it is rewarding. In 2015 we took on the additional challenge of delivering primary education in Docker River, which is as exciting as it is demanding. Our focus every day is on establishing genuine connections with young Anangu, meeting their needs, readying them for life beyond school - and that is a significant but very meaningful task. Nyangatjatjara College is an Anangu College in Central Australia. We provide secondary education across three remote communities and primary education in one (Docker River). All of our students are Anangu, and almost all speak Pitjantjatjara as their first language. We are the only secondary education provider in the Northern Territory south of Alice Springs. We belong to the Association of Independent Schools of the Northern Territory (AISNT). We aim to have every child across our communities attending school and learning every day. We are passionate about working with Anangu to provide an excellent education for young people in our region. Nyangatjatjara College was established by Nyangatjatjara Aboriginal Corporation and opened on 21 July 1997. In the first five years of its life, the college grew from one building to multiple temporary buildings at four campuses based in the communities it serves. The Yulara campus is an architecturally-designed site. Its bright colors and staggered rooflines meld the buildings with the environment and reflect the Central Australian landscape. View full school
