About Me

  1. Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) has two campuses, Seturan Campus and Babarsari Campus. Located in the northern frontier of Yogyakarta City, both campuses have quite a nice view of Merapi Mountain in the north. Only about 15 minutes' driving can reach both campuses' locations from Yogyakarta's main airport, Adisucipto International Airport. Veteran Campus is located right in the main ring road that circles the city. It is home to the Faculty of Mineral Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, and Faculty of Economics. There are about 20 buildings and outdoor facilities on this Campus, including BNI Bank and ATM Center, University's Main Office, University's Main Auditorium, University's Main Library, University's Research and Community Service Center, Administration Office, Greenhouses, Canteens, and Food Courts, University's Clinic, Mosque, University's Shops, University's Printing Center, University's Car Wash Center, University's Warehouse, Student Dormitory, Student's Union Office, Soccer field, Futsal field, Basketball field, large space of Parking Areas, and many more. Meanwhile, Babarsari Campus is located close to the city's outer highway. It is home to the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Faculty of Social and Politics Science. There are about 15 buildings and facilities on this campus, including the University's Language and Multimedia Center, the University's Museum of Geotechnical and Mineral, the University's Laboratory Center, Mosque, University's Shop, Volleyball field, Badminton courts, Tennis courts, and many more. Both campuses are surrounded by various private boarding houses and a wide range of national and international culinary tastes. However, the local taste of Yogyakarta cuisines is also interesting to try out. The most popular food in Yogyakarta, Meatball Soup served with noodle and green pokchoy called "Bakso," can be found at every street corner. Night activities in Yogyakarta are quite ardent. Local food stalls and cafes are serving foods for late supper until nightfall. Moreover, many 24 hours convenience stores and drugstores are available everywhere to serve sudden personal care needs. 2. UNAM is the institution with more educative options in Mexico as well as the one receiving more students. It evaluates its study programs systematically to adjust to the necessities of the working dynamics, hence providing its graduates high competence levels. The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has played a significant role in our country's history and formation. This public, autonomous, and lay institution's fundamental tasks are teaching research and culture dissemination. It is acknowledged within the academic world as an excellent university. UNAM is a space of various freedoms where respect, tolerance, and dialogue are practiced daily. Ideas and thought plurality is appreciated as a sign of its richness and never as a weakness factor. Numerous generations have been forged as professionals and have obtained with this condition a better life quality standard. Our graduates are leaders within the enterprise, industry, services, and academic worlds. Doubtlessly, the best indicator of the excellent work at UNAM. The most relevant artists, humanists, and scientists in the country have gone to university classrooms. UNAM is a robust and mature institution, rigorous and pertinent in an academic manner, but, like every University, it is continuously under improvements and modernization. This is why it aspires to have the best students, academics, researchers, and facilities to face Mexico's future. This is the way the National Autonomous University of Mexico confronts the present. … And it is committed to the future! The National Autonomous University of Mexico takes as a mission to teach higher education courses to educate professionals, researchers, university professors, and technicians who will provide a useful service to society to organize and to carry out research, primarily on the national conditions and problems, and to extend with generosity the benefits of culture to all sectors of the population. Its substantive functions are teaching research and dissemination of culture. Its organizational structure is divided into three subsystems to achieve its task. These are: on the one hand, education, which includes undergraduate, master, and doctoral programs research, which is done in its schools, and its institutes and centers of natural and exact sciences, and on the other hand, humanities and social sciences as well as cultural dissemination. The National Autonomous University of Mexico has two high schools: The National Preparatory School with nine facilities, and the Sciences and Humanities School with five facilities. A high school in Mexico corresponds to prep school, and it is studied in three years after middle school and before the undergraduate degree. Undergraduate programs are taught in 22 schools and national schools located in Mexico City and its Metropolitan Area, and in some institutes, centers, and units located in different states of Mexico. This infrastructure enables UNAM to offer 117 programs in all disciplines of human knowledge. UNAM has five Higher Education Schools, four in the State of Mexico and one in Mexico City, which was established in the seventies within the framework of an education decentralization project in order to benefit a larger number of students, introduce educational innovations, to impel inter-discipline and multi-discipline, to link research and teaching, to integrate theory and practice and to relate to its environment. Through the Open University and the Distance Education System, UNAM offers twenty-two undergraduate programs, one technical program, one distance high school, four doctoral and fourteen master programs, in twelve schools, two national schools, and one extension center in the University itself, as well as in the states of Chiapas, Mexico, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Tabasco, and Tlaxcala. UNAM offers 41 postgraduate programs with 83 curricula for master and doctoral programs. These are jointly taught by diverse academic entities of the National University schools, institutes, and centers, offering the students a significant variety of expert tutors in different branches of the discipline of their choice. It also offers 30 programs in 167 specializations. The Coordination of Humanities encourages the development of humanistic disciplines and social sciences, disseminating the knowledge generated by ten institutes' researchers. Seven centers. Three programs and an academic unit outside Mexico City constitute the UNAM Subsystem of Humanities. Research in scientific areas is done in nineteen institutes, ten centers, and five programs gathered in the Scientific Research Coordination. The Coordination of Culture Dissemination is the area of UNAM in charge of fostering and disseminating culture and managing the university extension activities. To achieve this, UNAM counts with the Cultural University Center in University City, the Tlatelolco Cultural University Center, Radio UNAM, and thirteen museums inside and outside of University City. 3. The IPN contributes to the nation's social and economic development through a necessary competence-based training set on research, ICT's, and innovation while globally acknowledged for its quality and social impact. To be an inclusive educational institution with international prestige whose community contributes to the scientific, technological, and innovative development of the country's social impact. Students' concerns dictated the initiative to create the symbols that would identify the nascent polytechnic institution. In the years 1944-1945, the National Federation of Technical Students (FNET) launched a call to design a shield representative of the schools that were part of the IPN. The first prize was awarded to student Armando López Fonseca who, with his colleague Jorge Grajales, managed to make his design the winner. The shield was modified in 1948 while preserving its original elements. Motto: "The Technique at the Service of the Fatherland" This phrase was used by some students long before the creation of the IPN. However, it was during the first National Congress of Technical Students, held in the city of Chihuahua in 1937, that the then student Jesus Robles Martinez was elected president of the National Federation of Technical Students (FNET) and proposed a motto in order to represent the ideals of the student organization. The phrase "The Technique at the Service of a Better Country" was initially coined and should be used as a corollary of all of its proposals. This motto was later modified to "The Technique at the Service of the Homeland", which expresses the ideals of the Polytechnic. During the administration of general director Eugenio Méndez Docurro (1959-1962), the celebrations were prepared to commemorate the XXV Anniversary of the IPN Foundation. A call was issued to create the Hymn that would represent the Institute. The winner of the contest in the lyrics was teacher and poet Carmen de la Fuente (1915-2013). Later, the competition was opened to select the music, item in which the professor of musical education from Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts) Armando González Domínguez, became the winner. The Polytechnic Hymn was first performed on August 19, 1961, at the XXV Anniversary ceremony in the new Polytechnic of Zacatenco, attended by Adolfo López Mateos, then President of Mexico. In 1932, a plan was elaborated to integrate and give a proper structure to a technical teaching system. Narciso Bassols, Luis Enrique Erro, and Carlos Vallejo Márquez, all IPN alumni, participated prominently in this project. In 1936, Juan de Dios Bátiz and Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, respectively senator in congress and President of Mexico, helped bring this project to fruition, proposing to carry out the postulates in education established during the Mexican Revolution, thus resulting in the creation of the IPN. The IPN was conceived to promote development and equity, support the country's industrialization, and create alternatives for education in every sector of the population and socially disadvantaged groups. It is customary for higher education institutes and their sports clubs to have a mascot. Not to be outdone, the IPN's is a white donkey. There are different versions about its origin, the most popular being that when setting the area where the IPN was to be built, in the old Hacienda de Santo Tomás in the '30s, a white donkey was left in the field. When students and football players from the first team saw the poor animal, it was immediately adopted. Through the years, the white donkey became one of the symbols at IPN, particularly in sports. 4. Located in Tonantzintla, Puebla, the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica (INAOE) was founded by presidential decree on November 12, 1971. It is a decentralized organization that focuses on public interest; it also has judicial independence and assets. As an institution, the INAOE has the following goals: To train researchers, specialized professors, experts, and technicians in astrophysics, optics, and electronics. To solve scientific and technological problems within those fields. To drive educative and research activities that aim for the solution of specific problems in México. To give courses and award degrees (masters and doctorates) in the fields mentioned. The INAOE is part of a long-standing scientific tradition that dates back to 1942 when Luis Enrique Erro founded the Observatorio Astrofísico Nacional de Tonantzintla. This town, Tonantzintla, is an ideal location for an observatory because of clear skies during the night and a strategic geographical position. It also has minimal light pollution, a quality that Mexico's capital does not possess. The observatory paved the way for modern astrophysics in México and Latin America (at the inauguration of the observatory, there was a Schmidt Camera). Important astronomers have worked at the Observatorio Astrofísico Nacional de Tonantzintla: founder Luis Enrique Erro, Guillermo Haro, Luis Rivera Terrazas, and astronomer Enrique Chavira. The observatory has helped the country to bridge international scientific borders. The INAOE has a collection of over 15,000 photographic plates obtained from the Schmidt Camera from different sky regions, mainly from within the following constellations: Orion, Taurus, Cancer, Scorpius, Sagittarius, Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor, among others. Many discoveries were made with this camera. The most important is the discovery of Herbig-Haro objects, which are considered star formation indicators. Novae and supernovae were also discovered along with blue galaxies and countless flare stars and the Haro-Chavira comet, discovered in 1954 in the Taurus region. Dr. Guillermo Haro replaced Erro as director. Under Haro's direction, the observatory became one of the essential astronomy sites in Latin America due to its scientific work quality. In 1971, Haro decided to create the INAOE, as he realized how vital optics and electronics were for México. The Optics Department was founded in, and two years later, the Electronics Department started its activities. Since its creation, one of the INAOE's goals is to shape young researchers capable of identifying and solving scientific and technological problems in astrophysics, optics, and electronics. Master in Optics studies started in 1972 and, in 1974, Electronics studies were created. The Optics Doctorate program started in 1984, and the Electronics Doctorate program started in 1993, along with the Astrophysics Master and Doctorate studies programs. The Computer Science Master and Doctorate programs were created in 1998. Full dedication is expected of our students to develop their abilities and create an excellent work environment. The INAOE provides them with work areas, labs, computers and supports them in all efforts to merit scholarships as visiting students at other national and international institutes. To contribute to the generation, advancement, and dissemination of knowledge for Mexico and humanity's development by identifying and solving scientific and technological problems and training specialists in astrophysics, optics, electronics, computer science, and related areas. INAOE is a Public Investigation Center with high international leadership in the field of scientific investigations. Our goal is to impulse technological and human resource development in the fields of Astrophysics, Optics, Electronics, and Computer Sciences. We are also committed to national growth by promoting social values like solidarity, creativity, and competitiveness. View full university
  5. The National Law School of India University emerged through a Notification under the National Law School of India University Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986). It highlighted the peak of endeavors by the Judiciary, the Bar Council of India, the Karnataka Bar Council, the Bangalore University, and the Government of Karnataka to change legal education and build up a focal point of brilliance for lawful training and research in India. On account of the Government of Karnataka and the Bangalore University's liberality, the Law School has its grounds, situated in Nagarbhavi, around 10 km from the City railroad station and spread across more than twenty-three acres of land close to the Institute of Social and Economic Change. Since 1991, it is an entirely residential establishment on one campus with three Halls of Residence for men, three Halls of Residence for ladies, two Hostels for post-graduate female students, three blocks for Faculty Quarters and two blocks for non-teaching staff Quarters next to the Academic Block. The kindness of Mrs. Sudha Narayanamurthy of INFOSYS has empowered the Law School to have the Shri Melgiri Narayan Rao Memorial Library, named after her dad, for giving exceptional library services. The library was introduced by Mr. Equity R.C. Lahoti, the then Chief Justice of India, on seventeenth August 2005. The Chief Justice of India is the Chancellor of the University. The Chairman, Bar Council of India, is the Chairman of the General Counsel. These associations provide stature and distinction to the School, which is unparalleled in India's historical backdrop of legal training. The Karnataka Act presents complete authoritative and scholastic self-sufficiency, which encourages advancement and experimentation in the quest for perfection in legal training. Students' initial group was chosen through a National Entrance Test, and regular educational exercises started on first July 1988. It was a critical accomplishment that students from this batch won the Bar Council of India National Moot Court Competition in their first year of law training. From that point forward, admissions to the Law School has been based on achievement at a National Entrance Test which has now, since 2008, graduated to a National Level Common Admission Test known as the Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) and it works to choose applicants for all the National Law Schools in the nation. Other legal education establishments are allowed to participate in this strategy to determine their contender for admission to their law courses. Eighteen batches have finished their degree programs here. Numerous students have sought further education in their selected areas of Law in different prestigious Universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Michigan, York, and different Universities abroad on prestigious grants like Rhodes and INLAYS. Many have joined the practice regarding the Law in India at different levels from trial courts to the High Court and the Supreme Court. Some have set up their law practices alone or conjointly with other graduates of the Law School. Many have joined corporate law offices both in India and abroad. Some have joined work with national and global NGOs, some with UN associations, the World Bank and the IMF some have joined the academic calling, educating in this University, the NALSAR, Hyderabad, the NUJS, Kolkata, Cambridge, the LSE, East Anglia, the National University of Singapore, and so on. Some have joined the Judiciary, and a couple has joined the Civil Services. The Law School has embraced many research ventures subsidized by the UGC, the Government of India, the Government of Karnataka, the Department of Women and Child Development, the UN organizations, the World Bank, HIVOS, and so on. These have served to fortify research and education at the Law School. The National Law School has exchange programs with the National University of Singapore, Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Canada, and Buceuius Law School, Germany. Students from the Law School have spent a Semester in these Law Schools, and their students have spent no less than a Trimester here. This has encouraged trade of thoughts and culture between the graduate schools as well as the nations. Employees of this University have gone to the Universities of Wales. Warwick and Nottingham and Faculty from these Universities have invested some energy here doing training and research under the Exchange, and Faculty Improvement Programs encouraged by the British Council, Chennai. Various university lecturers and judges from the U.S.A., Canada, U.K., Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, South Africa, Malaysia, and New Zealand have stopped for a visit and cooperated with, and even provided training, at the Law School. 14. With the start of the 21st century, the international community entered an era where the growth of emerging economies, such as BRICS and Southeast Asian nations, holds the key to globalization. Latin American and African countries also look poised to enter a period of growth shortly. Yokohama National University (YNU) calls this era the "new global age." We seek sustainable development for the world and Japan by focusing our attention on emerging economies in Asia and beyond. To be successful in this new global age requires a thorough understanding of the cultures, religions, and systems of emerging economies. In this context, what will be critical is education and research that integrate the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. YNU houses its humanities and social science colleges and its science and engineering colleges on the same campus, so the university has great potential to offer education and conduct research suited to the new global age. Also, YNU is deeply connected to its local area of Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Yokohama has excellent potential for innovation while at the same time facing many challenges, including environmental issues and population aging with the decline in the birthrate. Many of these challenges are also shared by other parts of the world. YNU is confident that paying attention to and addressing Yokohama's issues will develop a global perspective: a unique viewpoint that can simultaneously consider both the local and the global. Harnessing the merits of having a single campus that brings together the humanities and the sciences and is home to many international students from emerging economies, YNU will develop human resources equipped to thrive in the new global age. 17. The National Fisheries University is the only fisheries-specialized higher education institution in Japan bearing the term "fisheries" in its name. It is run under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Japan. During its history of more than 70 years, it has contributed to Japan's fisheries industry's growth by sending out many talented graduates who are now playing significant roles at the forefront of the fisheries industry and other relevant professions, both in Japan and abroad. It was transformed into an independent administrative agency in 2001. All the faculty and staff have since been making concerted efforts to provide ever-expanding and advanced levels of education and research to achieve the goal of "cultivating professionals who will play leading roles in the fisheries industry in the future," the institutional purpose defined in the Act on the National Fisheries University, Independent Administrative Agency. The Third Mid-term Plan that commenced in 2011 places an even greater emphasis than before on education by promoting education aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to understand the current challenges facing the fisheries industry and to ensure familiarization and dissemination of fisheries policies, combining internships and other on-site training with classroom learning, comprehensively covering the entire system of fisheries-related industries, from production to consumption, and building the social foundations students need to perform their jobs with a diverse array of people in society. Today's fisheries industry is saddled with severe challenges, such as the depletion of fishery resources and consumers disfavoring fish. Notwithstanding, the fisheries industry indisputably remains one of Japan's most important industries. The sector is expected to become ever more essential in this mature economy in terms of providing quality food to the nation and maintaining a close connection with local communities. As a cabinet decision in December 2013 provides for integration between the National Fisheries University, which is responsible for human resource development, and the Fisheries Research Agency, which is undertaking research and development, we are preparing to create a new corporation. Under this new corporation, the National Fisheries University will continue to serve as the center for fisheries education and development of human resources specialized in fisheries in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, as manifested by the law. Meanwhile, as a research and development body, the new corporation will have nine research centers across Japan that are tasked with resource investigation, fish farming, and other activities conducive to fisheries and is expected to expand the learning opportunities for students substantially. We will be further demonstrating our role of fostering entrants from all parts of the country and sending them to actual fisheries scenes all over Japan. We are determined to do everything we can to contribute to the further growth of fisheries both in Japan and globally. View full university
