  2. The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT LOUIS is one of the five CICM institutions of higher learning that aims to prepare the youth to become mature Christians and citizens whose only pride will be to serve well their God and Country. The University of Saint Louis is a globally competent CICM Catholic Educational Institution that forms persons of character, conscience, compassion, national pride, sense of mission, and passion nurtured by the Louisiana culture of excellence. Explore the qualities that make USL unique: a spirit of collaboration among students and faculty, an emphasis on communicating effectively, the choices represented by various academic options and extracurricular activities, and an advantageous location. Every student has to be developed into a mature and well-rounded personality. He should be successful in his academic endeavors and active in various school activities, classified as co-curricular and extracurricular. Here, his talents and natural gifts not tapped in the classroom are brought to the fore, channeled, and allowed to bloom and mature. By working with others, he realizes the need for cooperation, and he benefits greatly from the interchange of ideas. The School of Health Allied Sciences of the University of Saint Louis envisions itself as a center of excellence in health education and a source of competent, compassionate, and vibrant health workers committed to people’s health care and wellness. The goal is to form adolescents with a strong religious foundation and passion for excellence in their curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular endeavors. Inspired by Saint Louis, the Patron of the Youth, with the intercession of Mother Mary, and with strong collaboration with parents and community for the young, USL-HS continues to be a beacon of excellence through committed efforts. On May 20, 2002, the Commission on Higher Education finally granted the school its new charter. Hence, the old Saint Louis College of Tuguegarao is now the University of Saint Louis, Tuguegarao City. The installation of the first University President, Dr. Rosalinda P. Valdepeñas, who was at the helm of SLCT during the grant of the University status, was on August 8, 2002. In that same year, before the grant of University status, SLCT was one of the first thirty (30) private higher education institutions in the Philippines granted full autonomy by the Commission on Higher Education from 2002-2007. This autonomous status was renewed for another five (5) years until 2012, along with nine (9) other HEIs, a feat shared with prestigious schools in Metro Manila and two (2) other schools outside of Metro Manila. During the period of the grant of full autonomy, other collegiate programs were offered which include Nursing (SY 2004-2005), Tourism and Information Science (SY 2007-2008), Hotel and Restaurant Management (SY 2009-2010), Library and Information Science and Interior Design (SY 2009-2010) BS Medical Laboratory Science (Medical Technology) and BS Pharmacy (SY 2012-2013). April 2012 marked another milestone in the history of the University when the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) granted Level IV accredited status to six (6) of its curricular programs: Accountancy, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Liberal Arts, Elementary Teacher Education, and Secondary Teacher Education. USL is the first and the only school in Region 02 granted such status and one of the very few in the entire country. The Computer Science and Information Technology program was also granted Accredited Status that school year. K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum was implemented significant school year 2012-2013. In May 2013, the High School Department was granted for the third time a five-year Level II Re-Accredited Status from 2013-2018, and the Nursing Program was granted Accredited Status from 2013-2016. In May 2014, the Elementary Department was granted Level I status from 2014-2017. As a testimony of its long tradition of excellence and quality, the University bestowed an International Platinum Award for Excellence and Business Prestige on May 26, 2014, in New York, U.S.A. 3. St. Louis College Valenzuela is devoted to the education and development of productive and responsible citizens molded-in in Christian-centered values – through the proper formation and example – for the benefit and betterment of Filipino society at large. Admission to St. Louis College Valenzuela is selective. The school reserves the right to refuse acceptance or re-admission to any student whose behavior or academic standing is at variance with the school's objective. The student's registration in the school is considered an expression of his willingness to abide by all its rules and regulations. We believe that education should not be limited to only those who can afford the full cost of attendance at St. Louis College Valenzuela. By providing options for financial aid from discounts to scholarships and installment plans, we ensure that the school is accessible to the most talented students who wish to learn, regardless of their family's income. This is part of the school's Christian-centric mission & vision, where we strive to create a learning environment that incorporates the broadest possible range of student backgrounds. The Library is a media resource center that contains a regularly updated selection of books covering a wide range of subject areas. Now computerized for proper cataloging, classification, and circulation of materials. Our subscriptions of journals, manuals, digests, magazines, and newspapers contribute to the current information required for up-to-date learning. Free, content-screened Internet access is also made readily available to students and faculty. Learning is augmented with audio-visual technology. The audio-visual room comes with a library of educational films to meet both students' and faculty's various instructional requirements. This new facility includes a theater-type layout for seating, with a 60-inch LED television, surround-sound, projector, and media Library. Established in 1976 as the Philippine College of Technological Resources (PCTR), the school was founded by Jose C. Olivares, who also served as the school's first president. When actual operations began on 14 February 1978, it had facilities and amenities for secondary and college students. A year later, the administration of the school was passed on to Emmanuel J. Olivares. The decade of the 1980s ushered in demand for skilled labor in the Philippines and abroad. Recognizing an opportunity to improve the options of financially-strapped Filipino youth for employment and financial security, the college introduced technical-vocational courses. In 1983, Agnes O. Luciano assumed the presidency. She continued to work for the continuous development and expansion of the college. A variety of short courses were also created for the benefit of out-of-school youth and enterprising homemakers through the Rotary Club of Valenzuela's assistance. In 1986, PCTR offered pre-school (Nursery, Junior and Senior Kindergarten), and primary school education on campus. By the end of the decade, the enrollment for the primary and secondary schools expanded dramatically, and school administrators had to meet the challenge of providing quality education up to the tertiary level. By 1992, courses in Information Technology were offered, and in 1994, the college introduced a new course in Hotel & Restaurant Management. During this period, the school expanded its facilities for laboratories, lecture rooms, and libraries. By the mid-1990s, an opportunity for PCTR to link with St. Louis University (SLU) and its affiliated schools presented itself after consultation with the Belgian Roman Catholic missionary order Congregatio Immaculate Cordis Mariae, the schools' administrators. The order, better known as the CICM Missionaries, has a proven track record since the 19th century in providing its schools with exceptional training and support in faculty development, graduate studies, and Christian formation. In 1997, PCTR was admitted as an affiliate school of the St. Louis Educational System, under the SLU Superintendent of Schools. (At present, however, the Office of the Superintendent of Schools is vacant and inactive.) Within the year, PCTR formally changed its name to St. Louis College Valenzuela. In 2002, Raymond O. Luciano assumed the presidency of St. Louis College Valenzuela with the death of Agnes O. Luciano. Since then, a continuing program of expansion and modernization has seen the addition of a new site for a pre-school and elementary school along Barangay Ugong in Valenzuela City, and the installation of a new fire alarm system, closed-circuit security cameras, emergency lighting, and a Wi-Fi system inside the main campus. The modernization program has also covered the school's science laboratories, Library, and audio-visual facilities. Today, St. Louis College Valenzuela has matured into an educational institution that the city of Valenzuela can be proud of. Its faculty is a richly diverse group of men and women dedicated to promoting a Christian-centered education for a new generation of Filipino youth ready to face the 21st century's challenges. Its students, coming from a broad cross-section of Filipino society, are active participants in the Philippines' promise and future. Their contributions to the Filipino dream as productive and responsible citizens will surely be a measure of distinction for all. View full university
  4. Saint Louis University is an excellent, missionary, and transformative educational institution zealous in developing human resources to be creative, competent, socially involved and imbued with the Christian Spirit. The University offers a wide range of financial aid options for students. SLU provides several awards based on merit in recognition of academic excellence. SLU also offers need-based financial aid in the form of work-study and institutional grants for sports and the arts. Also, SLU participates in government and privately funded scholarships and loans. The SLU Main library has grown enormously into a massive building—the six-story Msgr. Vath Library Building on Bonifacio Campus. Towering over the other buildings in the SLU main campus and resembling the big heart of the early CICM fathers and sisters who gave the people of the Cordillera and Northern Luzon quality Catholic education, the library building now houses a varied collection of print, non-print, electronic and internet-based resources. Today, the Saint Louis University (SLU) Libraries have expanded with a satellite library named Devesse Library in Maryheights Campus. With the ongoing computerization and reorganization, the SLU Libraries are set to meet the challenges of library preservation and conservation, automation, collaboration, and networking endeavor. The Saint Louis University Center for Culture and the Arts (SLU-CCA) was established in May 1993 during the presidency of Fr. Joseph Van den Daelen, who believed that in addition to providing quality education, SLU should also be a place where art is not only appreciated and nurtured but where our cultural heritage is preserved and perpetuated. The CCA is a creative and excellent center that harnesses and optimizes the potentials of both student-artists and educators through effective programs that promote and develop their artistic talents, specifically in the performing arts. With its aim to maximize participation in SLU's growing population, a new performing arts group was strategically formed. The CCA has five resident performing groups that frequently present competent and top-notch performances representing the areas of music, theater, and dance. They are the SLU Glee Club, SLU Dance Troupe, SLU Children's Dance Troupe, Tanghalang SLU, and the SLU Chamber Ensemble. The center opens its audition for new members to discover new, highly-qualified candidates from the SLU students every year. Aside from holistic development programs, the center provides scholarship benefits to artists who display exemplary performance in all SLU – CCA activities within and outside the campus. The CCA is the most active performing group in Baguio City with regular full-length musical plays, straight plays, concerts, and other excellent performances produced every year and have received an outstanding review from its audience not only from SLU but from the Baguio community as well. The SLU Glee Club and SLU Dance Troupe made special cultural tours in California, the USA in 2000, Jinan University in China in 2004, and Belgium in 2011. The CCA extends its services to the SLU dependents and students through its yearly CCA Summer Arts Workshop. This activity encourages the students to enhance and pursue their love of music, dance, theater arts, and arts and crafts. The CCA does not limit its services within SLU; for the past years, the CCA participates in the Arts Camp and Developmental Encampment under the leadership of Sunflower Children's Center that gives a workshop to different children institutions in Metro Manila. Indeed, through the years, CCA remains a significant venue for the education and training of artists and as a seat for exploring and experiencing the arts. With the unswerving support of our beloved University President Rev. Fr.Jessie Hechanova, the administration and its strategically formed groups, the Center for Culture and the Arts will continue to render its share towards a new dawn of artistic creativity excellence. In commitment to the CICM promotion of the integrity of creation and under its core value of social involvement, SLU has taken concrete steps to take care of the environment and mitigate the severe effects of global warming. SLU has vigorously implemented environment-friendly practices inside the campus through its innovative "clean and green" projects that include garbage segregation, the plastic-free Wednesday, etc., in support of the DENR environmental campaigns. Also, SLU is known in the Benguet province for its comprehensive re-forestation agenda. Over the years, SLU has planted thousands of trees through its tree planting activities in its adopted communities. The number of trees is expected to increase in the coming years through SLU's continuous efforts of "greening" endeavors for a sustainable future. More than restoring the natural environment, SLU's re-forestation active campaign provides livelihood to the local communities. SLU-LES won the Platinum Award in the 2011 International Schools Cyberfair in the environmental awareness category. Alongside the religious education formally given in the classrooms, students are given ample chances to participate in spiritual-liturgical and missionary-pastoral activities in the University under the Parish Team's guidance and animation. Among the regular activities meant to sustain the students' Christian growth and maturity are recollections, seminars, Bible study, outreach programs, social action campaigns, and even one-on-one spiritual direction. Liturgical services that are offered are the daily Masses, Weddings, Baptisms, and Confessions. Moreover, various parish organizations are open for those who wish to commit themselves to specific services under the parish's programs and objectives. View full university
  5. We are a Catholic, Jesuit college-preparatory school for young men, committed to our presence in the city of St. Louis and dedicated to building Christ's kingdom of truth, justice, love, and peace. We serve young men based on their ability to succeed rather than their economic circumstances. Through a rigorous academic program, we help our students develop critical minds and a life-long devotion to learning that informs moral choices and transforms lives. In addition to assisting in the intellectual, aesthetic, social, and physical formation of our students, we help them develop compassionate hearts by fostering habits of personal prayer, reflection, and service for the Greater Glory of God. Our mission is to create a school climate in which equity and inclusion are shared and celebrated guiding values for SLUH's Board of Trustees, administration, teachers, staff, and students. Inspired by Pedro Arrupe's call for students of Jesuit schools to become men and women for and with others, we seek to train men who will cross barriers created by society's ideas about race, gender, class, and sexuality in order to build God's kingdom of peace and justice. Our Ignatian value of cura personalis grounds our efforts to make our school accessible to all students who can benefit from our program, particularly those from groups that have historically faced limited access to the high-quality educational experience we offer. The academic enthusiasm and performance of our students at SLUH speak volumes about our program and the faculty-student partnership. Our students have achieved 42 top ACT scores, one top PSAT score, and one top SAT-2 score since 2005. Among other accomplishments, our school has been recognized as the top AP school in the State of Missouri and a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. We are most proud of our excellence in "Cura Personalis" or care of the individual student with this in mind. Our faculty members challenge each student to achieve high-performance levels and services through classroom involvement and beyond. Similarly, our students challenge each other to excel in all areas. SLUH's volunteer community service program (CSP) provides an excellent example of our students rising to new levels and becoming "men for others." In addition to the required Senior Project, in which the entire senior class devotes the month of January to community service, more than one-third of our student body participates in CSP. About 400 students fit time in their busy schedules to address the underserved' needs at more than 30 service sites in the area. CSP is our most popular co-curricular activity. Indeed, our students are committed to "helping souls." The popularity of our CSP program has been supported at SLUH by an environment that fosters spiritual development and concern for others. Our class prayer services, retreat programs, confessions, liturgies, and daily prayers help strengthen our students and God's relationship. Each day we dedicate two minutes of reflective silence to the Ignatian "Examen of Consciousness," an exercise that allows students to pray and gain clarity on their daily routines. Our theology classes examine the texts of our Church and help engage students in moral decision-making. SLUH, like our JSN companions, is a leadership school, providing our students as well as our community with the direction needed to impact the lives of others positively. Through a vibrant academic and spiritual environment, we will continue to preserve our heritage by cultivating our leaders of tomorrow. Our students all have different goals, but they have one thing in common - they achieve them. SLUH provides them the opportunities to engage their intellect, find God in all things, pursue their interests, develop lifelong friendships and connections, and embody the Junior Billiken spirit. The knowledge and experience gained and the relationships developed to set the foundation for a bright future. College Preparatory. Our essence, our mission, is to help students develop critical minds and a life-long devotion to learning that informs moral choices and transforms lives. Our four-year curriculum, along with our Advanced Placement program, is tailored to achieve this while providing the academic tools for success in college—and even the opportunity to accelerate a student's college education. SLUH is about more than a dedicated faculty, a collaborative learning environment, and cura personalis, or care of the whole person. It is about students elevating one another to new levels. It is about educating young men in the Jesuit tradition and developing their gifts and talents in service to others—in college and beyond.
  6. Saint Louis Priory School is a Catholic independent day school for boys in grades seven through twelve, which offers a nationally recognized accelerated curriculum designed to qualify graduates for admission to distinguished colleges and universities and to prepare them to undertake their continuing studies with success. The Mission of Saint Louis Priory School is to provide a Benedictine, Catholic, college-preparatory education of the highest excellence to help talented and motivated young men develop their full potential as children of God. We express the philosophy of our School by an explication of the key phrases of our Mission Statement: We provide a Benedictine education of the highest excellence, which teaches our students the service of the Lord according to the spirit of Saint Benedict through genuinely seeking God in prayer, through striving to grow in humility and purity of heart and so progressing toward that perfect love of God which casts out fear, and through preferring nothing to Christ and serving others in fraternal love and so fostering a spirit of family and community among those with whom they live and work. We provide a Catholic education of the highest excellence which teaches our students, according to the doctrine of the Catholic Church, the knowledge of the mystery of Christ through faith and understanding, the celebration of it through the liturgy and the sacraments, the living of it through charity and the other virtues, and the hastening of its fulfillment through prayer. We provide a college preparatory education of the highest excellence which forms our students in the intellectual skills and disciplines of a comprehensive liberal arts program of studies in the Western Christian classical cultural tradition, which prepares them for admission to appropriate distinguished colleges or universities, for the pursuit of their higher studies with success, and for continued intellectual development the moral virtues, guided by charity, which are needed for service and leadership in a free society the appreciation and practice of the fine arts as directed to beauty and the communication of moral and spiritual truths and values and the athletic skills needed for successful participation in a program of competitive sports as a means to physical fitness, active recreation and the development of the virtues of good sportsmanship, teamwork, and collaboration. We form a School community appropriate to a Benedictine school, centered in the worship of God, the celebration of the Eucharist, prayer, service, and Christian love, which will provide a nurturing environment, rooted in the vow of stability of the monks of Saint Louis Abbey and the commitment to service of the lay members of the faculty and staff, that will foster among all its members — students, faculty and staff, parents, and alumni — care, concern, and mutual support for one another and every member of the Abbey Family. At Saint Louis Priory School, our mission calls for us to provide a "college preparatory education of the highest excellence." To achieve this goal, we have designed a curriculum intended to educate the whole person. Our study's various components address each boy's development's intellectual, artistic, physical, moral, and spiritual dimensions. Put, almost everything that we do at Priory is curricular. In the early stages of their Priory experience, our students must follow a liberal arts course of study involving nine academic departments. Such a curriculum provides the foundation that prepares young men for admission to distinguished colleges and universities and, perhaps more importantly, enables them to undertake further studies with success. Within this study, we strive to impart the intellectual skills of inquiry, connection, and reflection vital for success in any endeavor. As boys progress through our program, their opportunities for variety in course selection increases. Some of our students elect to continue studying classical languages, while others choose to participate in our growing computer science program. Each boy continues to develop his craft in one of our visual, fair, or performing arts electives for a minimum of two years in high school. By the time they are juniors and seniors, many of our students are challenged by Advanced Placement (AP) work in several disciplines. In the senior year, students largely sculpt their curriculum and write a substantive thesis on a topic of their choice while working with a faculty member on an independent basis. Our Division Directors, Department Heads, and Faculty strive to work with our students to ensure that they take a healthy and varied course load, paying careful attention to each student's total school involvement, athletic and other curricular commitments, and the overall combination of classes.
  7. At MICDS, we strive to live into our bold Mission as we cultivate students who are equipped with academic, social, and emotional intelligence. We shape future leaders who can contribute to a more positive, successful, global society by growing the skills and strengths unique to them as individuals. At MICDS, we strive each day to uplift our bold Mission as we prepare the whole person with the intellectual, social/emotional, and leadership skills they need to be successful and positive contributors to a diverse, global, and rapidly changing society. Below are the ways we—together as school administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students—bring our Mission to life. We teach students to become resilient self-advocates who are developing into their best selves as they pursue academic excellence, individual achievement, and meaningful collaboration within the community. They acquire the skills to do so through our college preparatory curriculum, advisory, homeroom, enrichment programming, media literacy training, hands-on learning, and co-curricular activities such as athletics, the arts, reading and science groups, and other student activities. Through all of these outlets, we partner with parents and empower students to embody virtues such as respect, honesty, and integrity as they prepare to become confident and responsible citizens in the world they will inherit. We cultivate a learning environment in which all students, faculty, staff, and parents are valued, affirmed, and included as equal members of the community, embracing and celebrating race, color, religion, family structure, national or ethnic origin, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, and gender identity. In addition to celebrating the diversity among us at MICDS, we also prepare our students to become culturally competent as they learn to thrive in a diverse world. Foundational to that preparation involves self-awareness, embracing difference, critical thinking, personal responsibility, and treating others with respect and dignity. In particular, we strive to impart compassion and empathy. We foster a life of discovery, where students pursue their passions in and out of the classroom. Through a variety of classroom and co-curricular activities, students explore their curiosities, innovate, develop a sense of agency and learn the necessary skills and awareness to be thoughtful and ethical leaders. In addition, they work toward advancing the greater good through service to others, in and throughout our MICDS community, locally, domestically, and abroad. At MICDS, we empower students to be upstanders, rather than bystanders. This means they become individuals who take a stand for their values in a respectful way. They speak up when those values are compromised or threatened, and they commit to holding themselves, their peers, and leadership accountable for good and right actions and behavior. We encourage members of the community to report any issues or infractions directly and immediately to an MICDS faculty member or an administrator. Furthermore, we ask students to do what is good and right, not just for them or their gain, but for the whole of the community, thinking especially about those who are most vulnerable. The excellence of an MICDS education is evidenced by the success of our alumni and the scholarship of our faculty and students. At MICDS, we offer challenging academic programs facilitated by educators who are innovative thinkers and leaders and who prepare students to develop academic and personal achievements beyond the classroom.

From its inception, St. Louis Christian College has provided Bible-centered higher education to equip men and women as leaders who impact the world for Christ. The College was founded to meet the ministry needs of the St. Louis region. In June 1956, three St. Louis ministers met to discuss a common concern: the need for leadership in the churches of the St. Louis region. Luther Perrine, Hubert Burris, and Vernon Newland reviewed the evangelistic decline of the previous quarter century and proposed to found a Bible college as a "center of evangelism" for the St. Louis region. Out of that proposal, St. Louis Christian College was established. In the first year, faculty responsibilities were distributed among 11 ministers. Nineteen students enrolled. In the following years, full-time teachers were appointed and an 11.5-acre campus was secured at the present location. Luther Perrine became the first president in 1957. Russell Boatman became academic dean in 1962, serving in that capacity through June 1978. Glenn Bourne became president in June 1966. He served in that capacity through June 1978. St. Louis Christian College attained accreditation with the American Association of Bible Colleges and enjoyed growth in facilities, faculty, enrollment and influence during the President Glenn Bourne and Dean Russell Boatman administration. For the duration of the 2016-17 school year, St. Louis Christian College was led by a four-person Presidential Transition Team. The team members that served from July-December 2016 were: Don Sanders, Dr. Ken Johnson, Pamela Ralls, and Dr. Mike Pabarcus. Team members that served from January-May 2017 were: Dr. Ken Johnson, Dr. Ladd Haverly, Harold Merritt and Scott Womble. In June 2017, Terry Stine became the sixth president of St. Louis Christian College. Mr. Stine came from Boise Bible College, where he began as Professor of Missions in 2005 and then served as President from 2007-2017.

In 1853, prominent St. Louis merchant Wayman Crow and his pastor, William Greenleaf Eliot Jr., concerned about the lack of institutions of higher learning in the growing midwest, led the founding of Washington University in St. Louis. During the 1840s and 50s, waves of immigrants flooded into St. Louis, boosting the young city's population. These newcomers came to a pressing need for education — both industrial training and general introductory courses — conducted outside of regular working hours. So the first educational step of the young Washington University was to establish an evening program on October 22, 1854. Over the succeeding decades, the continuing education program underwent many changes. The university flourished at its location in downtown St. Louis for its first 50 years, growing from an evening program to an institution offering a full slate of scientific, liberal arts, and classical course offerings. In time, schools of law and fine arts were added. In 1891, the school acquired the St. Louis Medical College to form a medical department, which merged with the Missouri Medical College in 1899.

In 2009, Washington University had 6,114 undergraduate students and 3,297 professors, with over 35 percent of undergraduate students being multicultural and international students. We endeavor to promote the true value and dignity of each person in the school, to respect diversity and difference, and to grow and work together as a learning community.

The school encourages the involvement of parents through a range of contacts and their involvement in the St. Louis Parents’ Association, St. Louis Infant School endeavors to enhance the self-esteem of everyone in the school community, to imbue in the pupil's respect for people and property and to encourage them to be thoughtful, responsible and caring. 24. View full school

View full university
