About Me

  1. Welcome to St. Joseph's C.B.S. Primary School (SN Naomh Seosamh) or just Joey's as it has been fondly known by generations of Dubliners. We are a small (125 pupil) boys school located in Marino, Dublin. We have classes from 2nd through to 6th (ages approx. 7 to 12) and three Outreach classes that cater for children with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). We are committed to providing a happy, secure environment in which all our children can develop to their full potential. We part of the Edmund Rice School's Trust. For more information on the E.R.S.T and what they do please visit their website here. Below is an overview of what the E.R.S.T is about... Inspired by the Five Key Elements of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust Charter our schools are responding to a changing world and supporting the leaders of the future to work in partnership, to care for the environment, to equally look after themselves and others, and to be inspirational and responsible citizens. Our schools promote equality of access and participation - in other words, children of any faith, or none, at every level of ability, of any nationality, or ethnic grouping are all welcome in our schools. All of our schools are encouraged to recognize the uniqueness of each individual in caring communities where holistic development is nurtured. We promote equality of access and participation - in other words, children of any faith, or none, at every level of ability, of any nationality, or ethnic grouping are all welcome in our school. We recognize the uniqueness of each individual in caring communities where holistic development is nurtured. The school provides a wide range of subjects, activities, sports, and supports to help our students learn and thrive. We have a strong tradition of providing After school or extracurricular activities. The dedicated and experienced staff in our school provide these activities voluntarily. We operate a subsidized school book rental scheme and all our students are provided with a free, delicious, and healthy school meal. We recognize the value of, and actively work towards, excellent home-school communication and have a dedicated Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) teacher to help achieve this. We also participate in the School Completion Programme to ensure that our pupils get the best possible start in their education.
  2. We welcome you and your child to the family of St Joseph’s, We are a one-form entry Catholic Primary School, with full-time nursery and reception classes, situated in the heart of London, just off Drury Lane. Christ is the reason for our school, the unseen but ever-present teacher in our classes, the model for our children, and the inspiration for our staff. We delight to be a living part of the body of the Catholic Church, convinced that our school can truly succeed only if there is a partnership between the school, home, and Parish. We have high expectations for all children and work hard to ensure that they meet their full potential by delivering a broad and rich curriculum that provides children with the opportunity to explore, enquire and reflect at each stage of their learning journey. Whilst we acknowledge the crucial role that schools play in a child’s development we believe that the most important teachers in a child’s life are their parents. We therefore actively encourage parents to involve themselves in the learning of their child and the life of our school family. We aim to provide a welcoming atmosphere, which encourages parents to come and discuss any matters concerning their child’s progress and welfare. A mission statement says what the school promises to do for its children and what we must do for each other. In our family we care for each other, learning together through Jesus. Our Mission statement says that we are all special and every one of us is part of the family of St Josephs’s. Our Mission statement expects us to care for each other. Our Mission statement says that we are all learning together every day and expects us to do our best so that we and others can achieve our full potential. Our Mission statement encourages us to communicate with our friend, Jesus through prayer and to love each other as he loves us. The St Joseph’s curriculum aims to provide our children not just with the knowledge they need to move confidently and successfully through their education and to be prepared for later life we wholeheartedly promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental, and physical development of children will need to live happily in our society. Our curriculum takes into account the needs of different groups, including the ablest and pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. We provide an inclusive curriculum that offers challenges and success in fair measure to all children. Teachers are encouraged to innovate in all that they do. Every topic, lesson, and objective has its roots with the children for whom it has been planned. The rigorous assessment ensures sustained progress for all. We have adopted the phrase ‘the romance and the rigor’ of a child’s time at St. Joseph’s. For us, the ‘romance’ is the creativity, the awe, and wonder, the discussion, and inquiry. The ‘rigor’ is reaching the ambition we hold for every single child our commitment to the highest expectations evidenced in every classroom every day, and expert planning and assessment that ensures learning is deep and secure. We support creativity with our staff in deciding how to contextualize, extend, deepen and embed the curriculum and learning experience. This gives our children a rich and enjoyable school life, that equips them with both the very best standards on the transition to the next stage of their education, and a love of learning that considerably improves their life chances. Whilst we follow the guidance of the National Curriculum, this is by no means the totality of our school curriculum. Learning is closely linked to the world the children live in – starting with the community they inhabit in the very heart of London a city that has been home to some of the greatest writers, artists, musicians, and architects the world has known. Great artifacts of world history are housed in the museums that surround us. The National Gallery and The British Museum are moments from our school, as are the Royal Courts of Justice and National Archives. All other London museums and resources are within the possibility of an easy day trip. We make regular use of every one of these resources to enliven learning for our children, and kindle those fires! More than this, our school is also surrounded by universities, the offices of huge multi-national corporations, law firms, and the media world. These play a big part in the children’s learning from debates led by an Economist journalist and writing workshops in boardrooms to joint choir www.health-canada-pharmacy.com performances with a law firm’s choir from reading volunteers from some of these organizations to maths clubs mentored by finance directors children regularly access all levels of the world around them. We hope this stirs a belief among them that they can interact with this world, and the door to it is very much wide open.
  3. St. Joseph’s is an 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school situated in the heart of St. Joseph’s Parish, Port Talbot. From Year 7 to Year 13 and beyond, we offer a pathway through Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, preparing our students for the rest of their lives. Our aim is always for excellence, for an education that inspires the development of the whole person, emotionally, spiritually, and academically. Whether you are a student, a parent, or a visitor, we hope you find this website a useful resource to find out more about our school. The ethos of this school is Catholic. The school was founded by the Catholic Church to provide education for children of Catholic families. The school is conducted by its governing body as part of the Catholic Church under its Trust Deed and Instrument of Government and seeks at all times to be a witness to Jesus Christ. We ask all parents applying for a place here to respect this ethos and its importance to the school community. This does not affect the right of parents who are not of the faith of this school to apply for and be considered for a place here. Here at st joseph we root everything in our mission to lead each young person in our school community to become fully human in Christ. Our Catholic Christian ethos demands the highest standards of expectation and commitment recognizing the distinct human dignity of every one of our students and doing all within our power to unlock his or her potential. By choosing st joseph you can expect us to provide your child with an environment that is welcoming and disciplined. We will get to know your child well and look after him or her from year 7 right through to year 13. The teachers and support staff at st joseph is not just a career it is a vocation. Staff is well known for going the extra mile to support and guide our pupils and to help them to develop holistically and they challenge all students to make the most of their God-given talents. We are of course well aware that it is your parents and guardians who are the first educators of your children. As such we make sure that we keep parents up to date with their children's progress and welcome their involvement in the life of the school.

  16. View full school
  17. St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School was opened over a hundred years ago to serve the needs of a growing Catholic population in Hanwell. It was staffed by nuns from the order of St. Joseph of Peace and the order still has a convent of nuns across the road from the church. We have served the children on our present site since 1907. The school was set up to meet the needs of poor immigrants (the clever nuns ran a private school in Cuckoo Dene to help fund the "poor" school) and throughout its century of service St. Joseph's has welcomed Catholic children from across the world and helped them and their families to be successful members of Hanwell, London, and U.K. society and good Catholic people. Your children's year group pages will have specific curriculum information and website links for that age group and the "Our Catholic School" section hosts the latest news about R.E. and our Catholic life. “Letters and Sounds” is the phonics scheme used throughout the school and we use a range of reading schemes including Oxford Reading Tree in Key Stage One. There are three different types of clubs that operate within the school. School Care available from the end of the school day to 6.00 pm is provided, at a cost, by Fit for Sport. Please click on the hyperlink on the home page to contact them about places. Other clubs are provided by outside providers who use our facilities but are not managed by the school and regrettably the school office staff are therefore not able to help with queries about these. Examples include the Guitar Club, Spanish Club, Drama, Ballet, and Gymnastics (see details below). A charge is levied for these clubs. Thirdly school staff run clubs out of their goodwill and free of charge. These are advertised in September for parents to select alongside their children. If oversubscribed places are awarded based on identifying children who would have a particular benefit from the club (usually one or two places) and thereafter names go into a random draw. Historically the children entitled to pupil premium have been very academically successful at St Joseph's. Up to 2013, every child met the expected Level 4 standards in all areas. Further analysis however showed no children entitled to pupil premium met the more rigorous Level 5 however. This position was rectified in 2014 and 2015 with Level 5's and Level 6's being attained. In 2016 the new assessment system was implemented at KS2 and this created a "blip" year where the seven children entitled to PP in Year Six scored 95 raw points or more except those with profound special needs. These children had gained from additional booster classes both inside and beyond the school day and the support of Mrs. Whybrew, funded from the pupil premium allocation. In the early years, the need to focus on speaking and listening both within the PP cohort and beyond means we have switched some of the allocations to support an additional nursery nurse to promote the achievement of EAL children. 18. View full school
