  2. St. John's University is the successor institution of the former St. John's University and St. Mary's Hall in Shanghai, two well-known education institutions founded in 1879 and 1918, respectively, by Bishop John Schereschewsky of the American Episcopal Church. The distinguished alumni of these two excellent schools have made remarkable contributions to the world and society, including working to restore their schools' legacy in Taiwan. In 1952, St. John's University in Shanghai was forced to give up its name and merge with other universities. In response to the loss of the school's identity, a group of distinguished alumni in Taiwan resolved to restore their alma mater in Taipei. In 1961, with the approval of the American Episcopal Church in Taiwan, the alumni of St. John's University, in conjunction with the alumnae of the former St. Mary's Hall of Shanghai, enthusiastically donated money to purchase land in the town of Tamsui in Taipei County for the school campus. In 1967, The Ministry of Education authorized the school to open as a five-year junior college of Industry and named it after its location, Hsin-up(新埔). Nonetheless, its English name--St. John's & St. Mary's Institute of Technology--continued to honor the history and traditions of the alumni's two illustrious alma maters. In 1993, the school was accredited as an Institute of Business and Industry and then, because of its excellent educational reputation, upgraded its status to an Institute of Technology in 1999. After decades of work to fulfill the aspirations of its alumni at home and abroad, the school's official Chinese name was changed on October 10, 2003, from Hsinpu Institute of Technology(新埔技術學院) to St. John's & St. Mary's Institute of Technology(聖約翰技術學院). On August 1, 2005, after constant and collective efforts, the school was officially upgraded to a University of Science and Technology and restored its original school name, St. John's University (SJU). The school's founder was Dr. James C. L. Wong, the first Chinese Bishop of the Taiwan Episcopal Church. Dr. Vivien Yen was the school's first president, and Bishop James C. L. Wong was its first board chairman. The succeeding chairpersons have been Dr. George K. C. Yeh( Acting Chair), Bishop James T. M. Pong, and, since 1972, Dr. Cecilia Koo. Past presidents and Dr. Yen were Bishop James Pong, Professor William Yue-Jen Hsia, Dr. Yeh Chi-Tung, Dr. Andrew C. Chang, and Dr. Peter Tuen-Ho Yang. Dr. Jean-Lien Chen and Dr. HerChang Ay has served as president since August 1, 2016. Through every period of stewardship, from the first chairperson of the preparatory committee, Dr. Vivien Yen, to the present chairperson of the board of trustees, Dr. Cecilia Koo, and under the leadership of all of the school's presidents, St. John's University has always had at its heart the spirit of the Episcopal Church. It has inherited the core values of the former St. John's University and St. Mary's Hall in Shanghai, which has inspired the school's distinguished academic and ethics programs, rich student life, and significant religious activities. The school motto--Talent serves virtue; Learning serves society (德以輔才,學以致用)--expresses the university's deep commitment to providing a well-rounded education and to nurturing exceptionally qualified professionals who have high ethical standards and humanitarian values. The school's Motto—Talent Serves Virtue, Learning Serves Society—expresses the school's deep commitment to educating students with high ethical standards, humanitarian values, and a future global outlook. St. John does not only place great emphasis on providing complete academic and technical training but also provides a well-rounded education with moral values embedded in the curriculum. Our purpose is to train each student to become a mature professional with a global perspective, innovation capability, and humanitarian concern to serve their country, society, and people. St. John's University takes great pride in its teaching quality and student-centric focus, and with our devoted faculty and staff enthusiastically teaching and serving, St. John's offers well-designed curricula providing seamless integration for students' study and career development. Facilitated by strategic alliances with renowned enterprises and supported by more than 60,000 alumni with outstanding achievements in the fields of commerce, Industry, and culture, students of St. John's University have a significant advantage in their future employment competitiveness. Having initiated four university-level development strategies ---Structural Receptiveness, Characteristics Creation, Academic Emphasis, and Sustainable Development, incorporated with an emphasis on Green Energy, Artificial Intelligence and Health Care, St. John's University continues to grow to become one of the foremost universities of technology in Taiwan and the world. It is a vision based on God's self-revelation in the Bible, God's inspired Word, and the trustworthy source of Christian teaching. The school endeavors to set up and maintain a framework of Christian attitudes and relationships which will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, permeate and integrate its entire life and work and thereby help it to grow as a caring community. Therefore, the educational philosophy of the school is based on the recognition that God is the giver of all truth and that the skills and attitudes of the students are being developed and used for the glory of God through service to one another. This encourages the development of a Christian worldview that equips students to live an authentic Christian life in Australian society.

  7. The staff at St. John's want to get to know your child's and your family's story. We pride ourselves on small classes, well-resourced rooms, well-maintained grounds, and staff who work in partnership with you and do that little bit extra. We are guided by our simple yet powerful motto of Praise, Love, Serve. These three words make us reflect on the following: Praise: Our Brand and Identity Who we are? What do we stand for? Love: Community Who are the members of the St. John's Community. Serve: Learning the purpose What we believe about learning and learners. We welcome you to be a part of our community. Being part of a Lutheran School means being part of a giant family. 39,000 Aussie kids are in Lutheran Schools. 89 schools all up! I can travel to any State or Territory and find 'family' – people I know, people who care about kids. This 'family' is visionary. We see an Australia full of educated, confident, thoughtful, tolerant, loving, faithful, and humble, and together we work towards that. "Being a new teacher at a Lutheran school has been an amazing experience for me. Everybody is so welcoming, and you feel a sense of love and belonging. It gives you a sense of community amongst not just those at the school but the broader community. It is a great place to be, and I am so very grateful to be working at St John's Lutheran Primary School." Sarah Sewell - Year 3/4 Teacher. As one of our parents recently told us, "It is like walking into a warm, friendly home. Apart from many of the comforts of home, the other features of our community are: Our multi-function Unity Centre - a flexible learning space for Performing Arts, Sport, and Assemblies. A large, well-landscaped play space provides plenty of opportunities for creative play that encourages children to interact across a variety of ages. Spacious, well-resourced classrooms. At St John's, we pride ourselves upon being Connected for Learning. We are Connected with Technology through a small device to student ratio, and most importantly, our small class sizes mean that our staff is connected to each child's need. With capped classes, we have more time to tailor each student's learning and support them as they reach their full potential. Our students love to learn because we love to learn. Every week is ended with a celebration assembly where classes share their achievements from the weekend, and students receive many opportunities to share their work. Since the school opened in 1980, St John's has been a significant contributor to the Portland community. Our students vigorously participate in community events such as Interschool Sport, Anzac Day March, Up Welling festival, and inter-school sport. Our senior students also represent themselves, Portland, and Victoria on their camps to Melbourne and Canberra.
  8. We are one of over 80 Primary and Secondary schools operated by the Lutheran Church of Australia, which currently educates well over 20,000 students. St. John's is located on a 3-hectare site in a semi-rural area of Jindera and is serviced from Albury and surrounding districts by several government-operated, free buses. We cater for boys and girls in the preceding years from Little Saints (4yr olds) to Year 6. Our school is open to all families and denominations in the community and enjoys a very positive reputation. We are a loving Christian community dedicated to providing a safe learning environment, inspiring all to achieve their full potential. We recognize learners' diversity, encourage and develop respect for others, a love for learning, and a desire to grow to maturity in Christ. Established in 1868, St John's Lutheran Primary School has provided quality Christian education non-stop for 150 years! St John's mainstay has always been to provide a caring and supportive environment to nurture our families in the Christian faith. With academic excellence and a reliable Christian educational program, the chief goals, St John's, continues to educate the whole child and support families in any way that we can. We are very well resourced and have excellent facilities. There are Interactive Whiteboards in every classroom and very advanced technological aids to assist further the education provided. The curriculum provides challenge, creativity, and variety, and incorporates both State and Federal requirements, and initiative is encouraged. We are excited to offer families a Christian choice in education and continue to provide excellence and care in a beautiful, tranquil environment where learning is valued and excellence is encouraged. The school vision statement is also our motto "to maturity in Christ. This seemingly simple phrase is rich in meaning and encouragement and is readily understood by even the youngest children. The following points amplify this vision statement: "to" – indicates a process and a direction. Education is a lifelong process. It should also be in an intentional direction. "maturity"- is our desired goal in primary education, as throughout all of life. "in Christ"- to live all areas of our life in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This scope of our vision is all students and all members of the wider school community. To strive through a life-long education, to be fully mature in Christ is a worthy goal for us all. The School logo presents this in the following manner. At the center of the logo is the empty cross, emphasizing that the risen Lord Jesus Christ is central to our school's whole foundation and operation. The radiating light symbolizes God's love and grace to us through Jesus Christ and the love we then share. The open Bible shows that all authority and practice is based on God's Word. St John's is a loving Christian community dedicated to providing a safe learning environment, inspiring all to achieve their full potential. We recognize learners' diversity, encourage and develop respect for others, a love for learning, and a desire to grow to maturity in Christ. As such, St John's aims to support parents in the complete Christian education of their children by: Encouraging children to grow in their relationship with God and come to personal faith in Jesus Christ. Providing a caring environment where learning is valued, excellence is encouraged, and honest effort is expected and recognized according to individual abilities. It provides a comprehensive, high-quality instruction program in all subject areas (as set by the NSW Department of Education) to equip children for further education. Promoting personal development and enhancement of social skills such as self-discipline, leadership, and teamwork. Core Christian Values Love for God, others, ourselves Respect for all Responsibility for ourselves, our actions, our school – service, honor, justice Honesty and Integrity at all times Opportunities the freedom to learn, play, take risks, grow, worship Care and Compassion for all consideration, kindness, empathy, understanding Effort and excellence give the best effort, using gifts and talents to achieve full potential Innovation always being open to doing things in a new way Dedication being devoted and committed to making St John is all it can be
  9. St John's Lutheran Primary School is a Prep to Year 6 co-educational day school located in central Bundaberg. Founded in 1978, our small school has established a reputation for delivering an excellent education in a caring Christian environment. We are a fully accredited school, operate under the guidance of Lutheran Education Queensland, and are a member of Independent Schools Queensland. Situated beside our namesake Church, we also have a Queensland Lutheran Early Childhood Service (QLECS) Kindergarten adjacent to the school, where many of our students begin their educational journey. Our facilities include a large, multi-purpose, modern hall, safe playgrounds, a modern library, sensory gardens, music rooms, a tuckshop, and a magnificent mango tree under which many students enjoy their lunch. Experiencing our school for the first time gives many parents a sense of relief and confidence in their children's primary education. They describe the friendly welcome, the respect and good manners shown by our students, and the genuine caring and personal attention our staff extend to their child as stand out factors as to why St John's Lutheran Primary School is the school they choose. Of course, we have more to offer than just those attributes. The Christian ethos that guides our teachers and our small school environment underpins a distinctive learning and development culture that is not offered anywhere else in Bundaberg. Quality education, guided by the Australian Curriculum standards, is achieved, and our NAPLAN results are a testament to this. Students also benefit from a wide variety of extra-curricular programs, which contribute to developing well-rounded children whose potential is encouraged. At St John's, we are guided by the following principles: St John's Lutheran Primary School seeks to provide excellence in education using skilled, dedicated Christian staff who use educational programs that align with state and Australian government requirements. Each person learns to respect and value others as they, in turn, are respected and valued. Each person can discover and develop personal skills in a safe, loving, just, and peaceful environment. Students are taught the foundational understanding of the Christian faith, as understood by the Lutheran Church of Australia. Through their exposure to God's word revealed in the Old and New Testaments, we hope that students and their families might grow in the Christian faith. Students and staff at St John's are encouraged to direct their energies to the love of learning in a Christian community, reflecting the teachings of Jesus Christ. The School's Values are: Christian Safety Integrity Collaboration Respect Resilience Life-long learning Our mission is to provide the best Christian education for children from Prep to Year 6 in Bundaberg. Our vision is to educate and develop well-rounded children with Christian values ready for high school.
  10. St John's is a place for developing the mind, innovation and creativity, inspiration and well-being, and nurturing the spirit. Preparing leadership responsibilities in tomorrow's local and global communities begins at Little Saints Kindergarten and is progressively undertaken by our caring, committed teachers through to Year 12. Our teachers care about your child, listening, and acting as fine role models. They are leaders in learning, focused on providing the best possible educational environment and ensuring that each child's academic potential is nurtured. Teachers are innovative and collegial in their approach, and new ways of teaching and learning are explored and encouraged. St John's is focused on each child's future and welcomes parents' participation in this educational journey. We facilitate community networks with tertiary providers and businesses, which support students in their transition from school to university and the workplace. Your family will be welcomed into our dynamic community, and I encourage you to explore this possibility with us. St John's Anglican College is an inclusive Christian school within the Anglican tradition that values diversity, inclusiveness, and tolerance within its community. With its Christian framework, the College encourages openness and intellectual challenge in its teaching and learning within a positive environment, promoting and acknowledging individual effort and endeavor. As an Anglican School, St John's actively expresses the Anglican Church's values and traditions, including the dignity and understanding to be found in school worship and an acceptance of social responsibility, social justice, and service to the broader community of which it is a part. In its long history, the Anglican Church has come to value diversity as a positive good and a distinguishing feature of a civilized community. Anglican schools should enliven such appreciation of diversity and acceptance and the care ethic implicit in others' respect. The teaching/learning ethic will show itself in hard work, intellectual rigor, and openness to ideas and debate. The Anglican tradition of renewing ancient forms and sacraments to meet modern needs will be evident in how the school community worships. Anglican schools will use the richness of symbols, stories, and ceremonies to promote their values and order their lives. The service ethic and a commitment to social justice will be seen in Anglican school communities' willingness to offer themselves to serve God and God's people in the broader community as critical participants. St John's motto, "Faith, Service and Courage," underpins the Anglican Ethos in various ways. The crest, which is worn by all students, has a rich story. The colors and shape of the bishop's miter represent our Anglican Ethos. The cross is symbolic of faith in Jesus Christ. The hands symbolize our commitment to social justice and serving God and the community. 12. Welcome to St. John's – a faith community formed in the tradition of educational innovator St. John Baptist de La Salle. St. John's has become synonymous with quality, diversity, leadership, and service throughout the years. All St. John's programming derives from our Lasallian mission to learn from and serve one another. What makes Catholic education in the Lasallian tradition exciting and unique is that it emphasizes holistic personal growth and innovative thinking, strengthening and continually transforming the school community. Viewing today's world through a Lasallian lens creates compassionate, forward-thinking individuals prepared to excel and make meaningful contributions to the greater community. In November 2015, we unveiled the 20-year vision for St. John's – a vision that encompasses both the facilities our students require and a forward-thinking curriculum to secure their success in college and life. One aspect of the master plan, launched in the fall of 2015, was the new Entrepreneurial Center for Innovation and Leadership, a one-of-kind four-year curriculum at the high school level. Built upon the success of our alumni and St. John's core values of leadership and service, our students have the extraordinary opportunity to develop their creative and innovative thinking skills further. Furthermore, in May 2017, the first phase of the master plan was completed. The new facilities include the Donatelli Center for the Visual and Performing Arts, a 15,000-square-foot space that includes renovated and expanded professional art studios, classrooms, individual practice rooms, and elevator access to the Cap Mona Family Student Center and Gleaner Courtyard, which provide multiple places for our students to gather as a community to create, explore their passions and put their faith into action the black box theater complex, which encompasses a director's office, dressing rooms, storage and the Gene Morrill Black Box Theater for small, intimate rehearsals and performances and the Lasallian Center for Mission and Ministry, which supports our ever-expanding Christian service and retreat programs with a shared student lounge, conference room, and private offices. Faithful to the charism of St. John Baptist de La Salle, St. John's College High School is an independent, Catholic preparatory school whose mission is to provide quality education to young men and women from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. St. John's is a community of faith and zeal, which seeks to respond to youth's needs through Christian education. At the core of the St. John's community are dedicated Lasallian educators committed to the students' academic, spiritual, cultural, and physical development. Rooted in Christian values, the Lasallian experience prepares young men and women for lives dedicated to leadership, achievement, and service to the community. At St. John's, the enthusiasm students have for their school is found in classrooms and clubs, on stage, in concert, and on athletic fields. Because of its size, St. John's offers ample opportunities to get involved through various clubs and other extracurricular activities. By graduation, nearly every student has participated in at least one sport and at least one club. The experiences outside the classroom help our students develop lasting friendships. Also, involvement in extracurricular activities strengthens students' sense of community.
  13. Since 1884, St. John's Northwestern has prepared young men and women for college and a lifetime of opportunity. Nestled in the center of beautiful Delafield, Wisconsin, we are principally a boarding school for grades 7-12. For those living in the neighboring towns, there is also an active day student program. Academic excellence is at the center of the St. John's Northwestern experience. St. John's Northwestern has followed a format for the benefit of structure and the advancement of honor, dignity, and respect. In comparison, many graduates have been admitted to the five military service academies, the majority advance to notable colleges and universities worldwide. Independent Schools Association of the Central States National Association of Independent Schools Association of Military Schools & Colleges of the United States Wisconsin Independent Schools Association Midwest Boarding Schools The Association of Boarding Schools The College Board St. John's Northwestern Military Academy was created when two of the nation's most prestigious military boarding schools joined forces. In 1884, The Rev. Sidney Smythe founded St. John's Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin. From his time, writings described him as a firm, compassionate man whose life was devoted to young people. He exercised his dynamic personality for 39 years, inspiring, guiding, and instilling a strong sense of pride that is still prevalent on our campus today. The Beacon, a campus landmark, was erected in 1923 after Rev. Smythe's death. Built from fieldstones collected by cadets, it is adorned with his four sayings: "Do not be a mollycoddle," "Play the game," "The game is not over, 'til the whistle blows," and "Carry on." In summer 2018, St. John's Northwestern Leadership Academies was formed and opened its academic programs within a coeducational model to evolve its mission. In 2019, St. John's Northwestern announced a new, non-military yet leadership-focused, academic year academy named St. John's Northwestern Leadership Academy. St. John's Northwestern offers a structured, supportive environment where young people are guided to look within themselves to discover their unique strengths. Our programs cultivate emerging leaders who have confidence, self-mastery, and compassion and who inspire others by their example.
  14. St. John's School instills in its student's intellectual enthusiasm, leadership, and an appreciation of discovery. We encourage students to focus on achievement with a willingness to explore varied paths to reach their goals. Because the SJS community revels in scholarly, athletic, and artistic adventure, day-to-day life at St. John's is filled with the joy of learning and doing, both for students and faculty. St. John's is an independent, coeducational day school presenting a 13-year college preparatory training sequence. A non-profit institution, it was founded in 1946 to provide the community with a school of exacting standards in the development of individual, spiritual, ethical, intellectual, social, and physical growth. While the means to achieve that purpose may change, it remains the primary mission of the School. The School seeks to develop the whole person in preparation for a lifetime of personal fulfillment and contribution to society. In particular, it is dedicated to enhancing and expanding future leadership for Houston and the country. The School offers talented, motivated, and energetic students a genuine challenge for academic accomplishment and a sense of self-worth and personal responsibility. The School, in turn, holds itself responsible for providing that challenge. From its origins in 1946, St. John's has evolved into one of the country's most respected independent day schools. Daily we try to live up to the high expectations of the original group of Houstonians who had the vision and wisdom to pour their energies and direct their resources into creating an educational experience that produces intellectually curious, civic-minded, and well-rounded citizens. Precepts and Principles of the St. John's Family Care is the School's cardinal virtue, for the other core values – respect, responsibility, honesty, integrity, service – spring from appropriate care for oneself, others, and the school community, for the communities beyond the School. The St. John's School community is sustained by caring relationships in which members extend themselves for others, with compassion, courtesy, kindness, and respect. Honesty is expected of every student under all circumstances. A student's work is expected to be his or her own unless a particular assignment has been designated as a cooperative project. Students are expected to tell the truth, respect others' property, and honor all their commitments. Courtesy and Consideration are expected. Students are to behave well, use appropriate manners in all situations, and respect others' feelings. Students in grades 4 and 5 will rise when an adult enters the room and remain to stand until told to be seated. They need not stand during a test or while in the study hall. Students are expected to use "please" and "thank you." Loyalty and Spirited Devotion are fundamental to a successful school. Pride, enthusiasm, fair play, and hard work are recognized as essential ingredients of loyalty. Therefore, the School encourages all students to participate in and attend sports events and other extracurricular functions to show their School, friends, and classmates' support. Dignity and Good Taste characterize the attitude, language, dress, and behavior of all community members.
  15. St. John's Prep, an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for young men in grades 6 through 12, is committed to educating the whole person. Our rigorous academic and extensive co-curricular program encourages students to develop their spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical, and creative potential and inspires them to honor the diversity that enriches both our school community and the world beyond St. John's. We challenge our young men to grow in faith and wisdom, promote human dignity, act with compassion and integrity, pursue justice and peace, and live lives of service to society. One person can change everything. In 1907, that person was Brother Benjamin. He believed that a school, with good at its core, could light the way. Nearly 15,000 graduates later, he is right. Our teachers work with young men (starting in sixth grade through 12th) to understand their unique goodness. And own it. Because, like Brother Benjamin, that is where change begins. One right turn creates another. Grounded in Catholic education traditions and inspired by the vision and values of the Xaverian Brothers, we strive to open the door to endless possibilities for students. Our teachers foster intellectual and spiritual growth, inspire a commitment to servant leadership, and nurture all of our students' gifts and talents. It happens with our youngest sixth graders to our college-bound seniors. We embrace what the Xaverian Brothers call "the common, ordinary, unspectacular flow of everyday life." Because we believe this is when young men can discover all they are capable of being and doing. You can see the results in our students and our more than 14,500 alumni who have gone on to make a difference in careers and communities around the world. The spiritual values of the Xaverian Brothers – humility, compassion, simplicity, trust, and zeal – inspire our community and call us to lives of faith and service. This year, we place a particular focus on TRUST and ZEAL. The Xaverian values of trust and zeal call us mutually help, encourage, and edify one another. To grow as servant leaders, we embrace a contemplative stance, seek to become our best selves, pursue excellence in all endeavors, and open our hearts and minds to transformational encounters with a diversity of people and experiences. In our daily journeys, we strive to live the Xaverian Way's core belief—Omnia cum Deo, nihil sine Deo. All with God, nothing without God. St. John's Preparatory School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the School. It does not discriminate based on race, color, national or ethnic origin in administering its educational policies, admissions policies, tuition assistance, athletics, and other school-administered programs. We believe diversity is a gift, a living educational resource that demonstrates the interconnectedness of life, inspires critical thinking, promotes compassionate action, and prepares students for the dynamic world beyond St. John's.

  17. St. John's distinctive liberal arts curriculum and educational practices have long given it a highly respected place among American colleges and universities. Its strong commitment to collaborative inquiry and the study of original texts make St. John's College an incredibly vibrant community of learning. Through close engagement with the works of some of the world's greatest writers and thinkers—from Homer, Plato, and Euclid to Nietzsche, Einstein, and Woolf—students at St. John's College grapple with fundamental questions that confront us as human beings. As they participate in lively discussions and throw themselves into the activity of translating, writing, demonstrating, conducting experiments, and analyzing musical compositions, St. John's students learn to speak articulately, read attentively, reason effectively, and think creatively. All classes at St. John's College are small, and students take active responsibility for their education, formulating questions, and developing their thoughts in dialogue with one another. Faculty at St. John's College share the college's dedication to an education that privileges intellectual engagement over rigid expertise; they regard themselves as guides and mentors whose task is not to transmit information but to pose questions that further students' ability to develop as thinkers in their own right. Every student's contribution receives serious consideration as classes delve into discussions of foundational works of philosophy, literature, history, theology, politics, economics, psychology, music, mathematics, and the laboratory sciences. By immersing themselves in these investigations, by examining their ideas in conversation with faculty and fellow students and exploring their insights in their written work, students acquire formidable skills and cultivate enduring habits of critical analysis and thinking. They learn to take themselves and others seriously as reasoning and feeling beings, work together as collaborators and colleagues, and lead fruitful lives of independent reflection and shared activity. In addition to the undergraduate program, St. John's students may earn a master of arts degrees through the Graduate Institute. St. John's is one college with two spectacular campuses—one in Annapolis, Maryland, and one in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Students enrolled at either campus can transfer to the other, and many students choose to spend a year at the other campus. Both campuses are beautifully situated in historic state capitals: Santa Fe hugs the slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Northern New Mexico, while Annapolis lies on the shores of College Creek, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. The two campuses share the same interdisciplinary academic program while offering a broad range of opportunities and experiences. St. John's College faculty are dedicated to teaching and are readily available to students. All classes are small (13 to 19 students), ensuring that every student has a voice. The overall faculty-student ratio is 1 to 8. Paper conferences, informal study groups, the "Take a Tutor to Lunch" program, and a wide variety of extracurricular activities provide any number of occasions for students to interact with faculty members. St. John's College students pursue all manner of activities outside the classroom. The college has a lively theatrical tradition, a host of musical groups ranging from madrigal singers to lunch-time jam sessions, art and photography clubs, language study groups, and an active intramural sports program. In Annapolis, the sailing and rowing teams compete in several regattas each year; other intercollegiate offerings in Annapolis include the fencing team and the croquet club. In Santa Fe, the Search and Rescue team allows students to develop their backcountry skills and contribute an essential service to the region. Also, students in Santa Fe take advantage of hiking trails that begin from the college campus, skiing in the Santa Fe Ski Basin and the Taos Ski Valley, camping in the nearby Santa Fe National Forest, and the many cultural attractions of the town of Santa Fe. Students in Annapolis explore the adjacent waters, enjoy life on the town's lively waterfront, and visit Baltimore and Washington, DC. Both campuses also offer students a variety of opportunities to become involved in the local community's life. St. John's draws students from all 50 states and some 20 foreign countries. The diverse backgrounds and experiences they bring to the college deepen and enrich their shared investigations. Statistics show that St. John's College students excel in their endeavors both at the college and after graduation. Almost 70 percent of St. John's graduates pursue advanced degrees—many enter the nation's leading humanities, science, business, law, and medical programs. St. John's College is in the top two percent of all colleges in the nation for alumni earning PhDs in the humanities and in the top four percent for earning them in science or engineering. One of St. John's College's many striking features, however, is that there is no typical St. John's graduate: St. John's graduates pursue all manner of careers. They become authors, winemakers, musicians, filmmakers, teachers, astrophysicists—whatever they choose. After a successful pilot program in 2016, St. John's Career Services has launched a Job Shadowing Program to provide opportunities to spend time with working alumni in a diverse array of fields. Students will have the opportunity to shadow alumni in the spring after the end of the school year, allowing them to explore career options and engage in experiences that will help guide them as they plan for the future.

    St John's University
