  1. The school was opened in 1955 in the old Clapham High buildings on the corner of Du Toit and Dr. Savage Streets. The name of the School was suggested by a member of staff, Miss L.L. Roe, and was formally adopted on the 1st of February 1955, at a meeting of over two hundred parents. At the same time the school motto - Levabo Oculos which means "I will lift my eyes" - suggested by Mr. E. van Niekerk, was accepted the school colors, anthem, and uniform were decided upon and parents association was formed. Miss N. Myburgh acted as principal from 1 March 1993 and was officially appointed as principal on 1 July 1993. Miss Myburgh retired in March 2004. Mr. J.G. Hepburn was acting principal from April 2004 until December 2004. Mr. Hepburn was appointed Principal in January 2005. The school is splendidly equipped. The Science and Biology Laboratories, Hospitality Studies, Technology and Arts and Culture Centres are of the most modern design. The school has 2 excellent Computer Centres with the latest technology, a Gauteng-on-Line Lab, and three classes equipped with Interactive White Boards. There is a magnificent hall and a large gymnasium. All-weather tennis and basketball courts, netball fields, and cricket nets are in use. Soccer and hockey fields and an eight-lane Athletics track overlooked by a large grandstand, are fully grassed. Courses, Subjects, And Fields Of Study are following: The Ordinary Course: Grade 8 And 9 Get- NCS with 8 learning areas GRADE 10,11 & 12 : FET In Grade 10 a learner must choose seven subjects. English Afrikaans Life Orientation and Maths Mathematical Literacy are compulsory subjects Learners have to choose three subjects from the following list: Accounting Business Studies Tourism Economics Hospitality Studies Computer Application Technology History Geography Physical Sciences Life Sciences Members are elected every 3 years by the parent body and are responsible for the entire running of the school except the professional aspects. The constitution is available for perusal from the office.
