  1. "Gothenburg University College" was established in 1891 with the help of private donations. The first classes were held by seven professors teaching seven subjects to twenty-one students, four of whom were women. The University of Gothenburg meets societal challenges with diverse knowledge. Thirty-seven thousand students and 6 000 employees make the University a large and inspiring place to work and study, with a continuous flow of new knowledge and ideas. There is a strong sense of openness at the University of Gothenburg. The University actively participates in the public debate and interacts with the surrounding society through continuous dialogues and knowledge exchange, nationally and internationally. Intense research and attractive study programs attract scientists and students from all around the world. They offer new perspectives and help solve the significant challenges facing the world. The University of Gothenburg is environmentally certified and works actively for sustainable development. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future. Four basic principles shall guide the University of Gothenburg: A quest for high quality shall characterize our research, education, and cooperation, our standpoints and decisions shall be based on a clear responsibility for the development of society, our work shall be guided by a global engagement that continually reminds us of our role in the world and an inspiring work environment is an essential prerequisite. In 2020, the University of Gothenburg is characterized by innovative multidisciplinary research based on strong individual disciplines. All education is research-based as part of their studies; our students contact active researchers and highly advanced research. The quality of our research and education is strengthened through close contact with the world around us. In 2020, researchers from the University of Gothenburg in various disciplines contribute to regional and global problems. Our program catalog is extensive, reflecting students' needs and the surrounding world and our responsibility for lifelong learning and promoting the general level of knowledge in society. We are engaged in close cooperation with the surrounding society, work for sustainable development, and are an active and appreciated provider of knowledge. In 2020, the research at the University of Gothenburg is characterized by global perspectives and attracts leading researchers worldwide. The University is a prioritized cooperation partner in international initiatives. In 2020, the University of Gothenburg is characterized by a stimulating and dynamic work environment where respect for everybody's equal value is entirely natural. The University is an attractive employer, and the study environment provides optimal work conditions for students. The organization is characterized by adequate information provision and qualified support functions. Being located in the heart of Gothenburg emphasizes our presence in society. The aim of the University of Gothenburg's quality work is to make operations even more successful. This success will be measured in terms of how operations develop and receive recognition and how the University thereby maintains its position in comparisons with other educational institutions, both nationally and internationally. Continuous quality work is of decisive importance to the University's development and future. Quality work is, therefore, part of regular activities. The University of Gothenburg is an open university involved in a constant flow of knowledge, education, and ideas. Cooperation, to us, means the exchange of knowledge. Let our researchers and students help you develop your business while you share your knowledge with them. We can also help you with further education or other types of collaborations. Together we can make a difference and contribute to growth and development. The University of Gothenburg is an active international university engaged in collaborative projects and partnerships worldwide. The University of Gothenburg is the only Swedish institution with centers for research and education focusing on all regions of the world and participates in some 2,300 collaborative projects. Today the University has 900 exchange agreements and welcomes over 2,500 international students of approximately 70 nationalities. This website provides an overview of the existing University of Gothenburg networks, partnerships, and initiatives, how to pursue a partnership with the University of Gothenburg, and how it is structured. Our researchers and teachers can help businesses and organizations with staff training, problem-solving, and evaluations. For more information, please contact the relevant department.
