About Me

  1. Oxley Christian College is a Christian school founded by Life Ministry Centre as a church'schurch's ministry expression. It opened in Warranwood in 1979 with 89 students in Prep to Year 8. The College was relocated to the current site in Chirnside Park in 1983. The founding Pastor of Life Ministry Centre (LMC), H.K. Oxley (OBE), stated in 1983, "We aim to produce a sound, academically trained person with a Christian foundation specifically regarding standards, behavior, and absolutes, in short, a balanced, stable, mature and useful citizen of our community. The Senior Pastor of Life Ministry Centre is Pastor Graham Nelson. When the College was founded in 1979, it was with two key objectives: to achieve the highest academic standards and to do so within a non-denominational, distinctively Christian environment. Still deeply committed to its founding principles, Oxley is widely recognized both for the excellence of its teaching and for the outstanding academic performance of its Year 12 students, of whom the majority gain entry each year into the university programs of their choice. At the heart of the Oxley, experiences are Christian perspectives and values (refer to the School Aims and Statement of Faith below), underpinning all aspects of the College program. Every member of the highly qualified teaching staff is committed to the Christian ethos. Each student is encouraged to develop a deep and enduring personal faith, accompanied by respect for oneself as a unique creation of God and by respect and compassion for others. The College also seeks to identify and nurture the individual student'sstudent's talents, which are valued, cherished, and encouraged as unique, God-given gifts. The College attracts students from diverse cultures and backgrounds – including several students from overseas. The College community welcomes all students and families who embrace the school'sschool's ethos and objectives. The College values and promotes the principles and practices of Australian democracy, including a commitment to an elected government, the rule of law, and equal rights for all before the law. We are also committed to and enjoy the freedom of religion, speech, and association. Our College community practices and actively promotes the values of openness and tolerance. Set in 70 acres of beautifully maintained grounds, Oxley educates up to 1000 students from Early Years to Year 12 on one spacious campus. Contemporary, light-filled buildings overlook the top grade sports oval and the well known Oxley Stadium. All Junior and Senior classrooms are well equipped and air-conditioned. Outstanding specialist facilities include the Senior Science Complex, Performing Arts Centre, Visual Arts and Design Centre, Library Resource Centre, Food Studies Complex, Education Support Centre, and Junior, Senior, and VCE Information Technology Laboratories. There is a Chapel, Theatre, and Assembly Hall. The Oxley Stadium accommodates five competition-sized basketball courts suitable for all indoor sports, a fitness center, and a sports cafe. There are extensive ovals, playing fields, outdoor courts, and play equipment.

Our boarders come from rural and regional Australia and overseas. We are very proud of our outstanding results, but our students leave College to embrace their future with so much more than a score that will open doors. They are well-rounded, happy students equipped with the skills and capacity to be the leaders and problem-solvers of the 21st Century. All of our students can pursue exciting sport, music, drama, service, adventure opportunities, and academic challenges. The Hamilton and Alexandra College is an internationally focused school providing an innovative and broad education within an environment of Christian values, encouraging optimum achievement, fostering personality, and equipping our youth with skills and character to thrive and flourish throughout their lives. Provide a moral framework against which students can assess their actions and those of others. Foster prepared, considerate, resilient, and confident young people. Nurture personality and character development. Our College boasts a long and proud history. The Hamilton and Western District Boys’ College was founded in 1871, and Alexandra College (a school for girls) was founded in 1872. Built by Western District residents who wanted their children to receive a good education in their district, the schools served as University Colleges, preparing students in their first year of tertiary education in the early years. 4. A hot welcome to our College website! It is easy to say 'welcome,' but we genuinely mean it. Thank you for exploring our website. I hope it gives you an insight into what we offer. We believe in building community, and we would love to partner with you in your child's education. We know from research that learning outcomes are optimized when parents and carers are actively involved in their child's education. We communicate regularly with our families and hold educational parent seminars throughout the year, plus many other events – you will be busy! We believe in the importance of educational research here at TCC. Our teachers are taught the data-proven strategies and skills that have the most significant impact on student learning. We believe that teachers are learners, too, so we make sure they have the training they need to be effective. We have a teacher mentor program where experienced teachers work with colleagues in the classroom, providing feedback to grow continually. We are blessed with a very committed, talented, generous, well-qualified, and hard-working staff. They all have a genuine heart for working with young people. We believe that Biblical values, which most people see as traditional values, are suitable for children and give them a solid foundation for adulthood. Our College values are compassion, humility, respect, integrity, self-control, and trustworthiness. The first letter of each value makes the name CHRIST, who is the cornerstone of our College. We expect our students to not only subscribe to these values but also grow in them. We believe our students have a fantastic experience at TCC; our parents keep telling us! We believe in developing and empowering young people who will impact their world and make a difference for Jesus. We have sent out doctors, farmers, nurses, teachers, mechanics, retail assistants, marine biologists, professional sportsmen and women, real estate agents, dieticians, engineers, and lawyers. Taree Christian College has been called into existence by God "To educate excellently from a Christian perspective, developing and nurturing students' character, faith, knowledge, skills, and values in the context of a dynamic, caring and creative Christ-centered community. Empowering students to fulfill their God-given potential and make a difference in their world for Christ. View full school

  6. It is exhilarating to be leading Grammar at this time, and a genuine privilege to be entrusted with the education of some of the brightest and most impressive young men in the country. Grammar is a thriving, motivating, and purposeful place built on an ethos that draws significantly on the Western European Enlightenment'sEnlightenment's enduring values. While an impressively notable feature of the school'sschool's reputation, examination success is just part of the picture of a busboy's intellectual, physical, and social development throughout his time at Grammar. Indeed, a love of learning and a passion for the past's greatness, the dynamism of the present, and the opportunities of the future remain essential to the boys' daily lives. Furthermore, an astonishing range and depth of opportunities exist beyond the classroom, be these in Music, Sport, Debating, Drama, and so much more. Our nurturing of each individual boy'sboy's talents to his fulfillment is such that there is no typical Grammar boy. Our boys have in common that they emerge from Grammar as articulate, confident individuals with a strong sense of their places in society, ready for university and the wider world. Interestingly, the minutes from an early Trustees'Trustees' meeting asserted that the school'sschool's object would be "that it furnishes a superior general, not a professional education its object is not to prepare its scholars for any determinate occupation but to communicate such information, and such intellectual training, as may best assist them in the subsequent acquisition of special knowledge, and the efficient discharge of their social and public duties." Given the inevitably changing nature of what will be considered professions in the years to come, it will be essential for our young men to have a pure academic grounding in order to be in a position to choose their path in the future. Thus, we remain true to our Trustees'Trustees' historical vision and practical, contemporary purpose. The modern College Street has around eleven hundred boys, St Ives over four hundred, and Edgecliff three hundred. Our boys now proceed from the school to a variety of Universities in New South Wales and beyond. However, the primary purpose of Grammar as set out in the Act to confer on all classes and denominations of Her Majesty'sMajesty's subjects resident in the Colony of New South Wales, without any distinction whatsoever, the advantages of a regular and liberal course of education'' – remains the same. Since its foundation, the school and its old boys (called ''Old Sydneians'') have played an essential part in this country's history. 18. St. Narsai Assyrian Christian College, established in 2006, is a year 7 – 12 co-educational Christian independent College of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East. St. Narsai Assyrian Christian College is considered a unique educational institution in many aspects. It is the first Assyrian College to be established in the Western World and came into existence as a fulfillment of His Beatitude, Archbishop Mar Meelis Zaia's (AM) dream. Only a short time after he was appointed Bishop of Australia and New Zealand, His Beatitude identified the need for the Australian Assyrian Community members to preserve their Assyrian faith, language, and culture. He believed that one way for the community to grow in these areas was to establish independent Assyrian schools that would cater to all Assyrians' unique needs in Australia. The dream of building an Assyrian school came to fruition when St. Hurmizd Assyrian Primary School was established in 2002. His Beatitude's vision did not stop there. He also envisaged the development of a secondary education institution. This became a reality with the establishment of St. Narsai Christian College in 2006. With the achievement of establishing our college to provide a continuum of quality education for students of our sister school, St. Hurmizd Assyrian Primary School, and students from the wider community, our Archbishop has created history and will be remembered and supported for his achievements by Assyrians around the globe for generations to come. Members of our Assyrian community in Australia should be proud of these achievements and thankful that future generations of Assyrians living in Australia will have the opportunity to learn about their faith, language, and culture. The College Crest speaks of the school's foundational beliefs and what it stands for. At the head of the crest sits the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East Patriarchal insignia. This symbolizes the Church as the head of our college. Following is the picture of an open Holy Bible with an image of a harp on one side and a dove. The Cross in the center of the crest – speaks for itself; the college is founded and centered on the teachings of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Finally, the College motto, "Excellence, Christian Values, Commitment," instills in our College community the value of showing excellence in every aspect of our daily lives; Christian values are reflected in our actions, manners, and quality life. Simultaneously, students are encouraged to show commitment to preserving through College life's challenges to grow and mature into successful students who implement these foundational characteristics through their lives. We strive to ensure that all members of the College community are treated with fairness and equity. We seek to make students aware of our rich Catholic heritage, nurturing this as the Catholic identity and living source. We strive to build upon the faith and commitment of the Presentation Sisters. We promote and model reconciliation and strive to restore relationships when conflict or division occurs. We value all of creation and the interconnectedness of life. We declare that the mission of St Ursula's College is to continue the mission of Jesus, living and proclaiming the Gospel values to all people, especially in our school community, with fidelity, joy, and enthusiasm. Our mission demands that we create an environment where the Gospel values – both in daily living and in the learning situation – can be critically examined, clearly understood, and responsibly acted upon. This demands severe and courageous involvement in education and in the practice of justice in our efforts to transform the world. The history of St Ursula's College dates back to 1915, when Rockhampton Bishop, Joseph Shiel, suggested a Branch House for the Order of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM) (Presentation Sisters) be opened in Yeppoon. Presentation Sisters, Mother Ursula Kennedy and Mother Patrick Madden, visited Yeppoon and selected a one-acre block in central Yeppoon. At the suggestion of Bishop Shiel, the Branch House became known as St Ursula's. A two-story convent in Queen Street with St Joseph's Primary School on the Ground floor was officially opened to students on 29 January 1917, with 25 Boarders and 30 Primary students. The Sisters' mission was to continue their Order's Founder, Nano Nagle, who championed education for all. Within the next 12 months, the need for specialized education for young women became apparent. On 12 March 1918, St Ursula's College, Yeppoon, came into being, with 32 students in attendance. Their classroom was on the first floor, with the Primary School below. In 1922, a new building was erected, which became the convent. This building still stands at the top of the driveway and is now called Gabriel Hogan House. A surge in student numbers in the 1950s meant the classrooms for primary students – still underneath the original convent – no longer met the demand for places. Sacred Heart Primary School, situated next to Sacred Heart Church in John Street, opened in 1958. Sacred Heart Primary School relocated to its current location in Lammermoor in 1991. The latter half of the 20th century saw a rapid increase in the number of lay teachers, as Catholic classrooms adapted to a decline in the availability of Religious Sisters and Brothers to teach. In 1992, the Presentation Sisters took the significant step of forming a company, St Ursula's College Limited, to ensure that St Ursula's would continue in the Presentation tradition after Religious Leadership ceased. The College's first Lay Principal, Mrs. Margaret Ramsay (Clifford), was appointed in 1996. The Presentation Sisters remained on staff at the College up until 2011. On 12 June 2014, St Ursula's College, Yeppoon, formalized the Transition of Canonical Sponsorship from the Presentation Sisters to Mercy Partners. Inspired by those who lead the way, and as a sign of commitment to continuing the journey for future generations, students and staff from St Benedict's and Sacred Heart Primary Schools and St Brendan's, and St Ursula's Colleges, gathered in July 2017 and celebrated 100 years of Catholic Education and 'Presentation Presence' on the Capricorn Coast. In 2018, St Ursula's College acknowledged its Centenary of educating young women with a three-day-long weekend of Celebrations and a year-long commitment to ‘100 Acts of Service'. The ongoing demand and support for Catholic education, the resilience of the faith-filled community during times of difficulty and change, and the vibrant and progressive nature of the Capricorn Coast community have ensured that the story of St Ursula's College is a continuing one. St Ursula's College is a vibrant Faith community providing holistic Catholic education and the residential environment through which young women are encouraged to realize their potential founded on the charism of Nano Nagle and the values of the Presentation Sisters yet, responsive to the demands created by the social dynamics of the 21st century. The Ursuline spirit inspires an educational environment where there is unconditional recognition of the giftedness of each person. Each person is known and valued, and respected. Relationships are characterized by trust, care, respect, gentleness, service, and forgiveness. This is a dynamic, lived spirituality that inspires hope and empowers all community members to realize their fullness of life. St Ursula's College is a place where deep learning arises from a commitment to providing staff and students opportunities to make a difference in this world. At St Ursula's College, the Catholic tradition is honoring, exploring, and lived experience central to the community's life. Each person is respected as one who is created in the image and likeness of God. Each person is on a faith journey. Each person has a responsibility for enacting justice, peace, and ecological sustainability. It is in these ways that the St Ursula's College community is connecting with life. At St Ursula's College, our motto is "Serviam" – I will serve – and we encourage all girls to live this out in their everyday lives. Activities include Meals on Wheels, Rosies – Friends on the Street, Care for Cambodia, Pink Ladies supporting National Breast Cancer Foundation, Interact, and Social Justice Initiatives. Although St Ursula's College began life in Toowoomba in 1931, the College draws its spirit and tradition from many people's lived experiences in many continents and across many cultures over 400 hundred years of history. The story of St Ursula's College is linked in every way with two great stories. Our story is grounded in Catholic education told dramatically and humbly lived out by Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago. Our story began in the mind and heart of Angela Merici, the woman who founded the Company of St Ursula in 1535 in Brescia in northern Italy. Much of Angela's spirit continues to influence our approach today as we work towards being a place where people are celebrated for their unique giftedness and potential. In recent years, there has been a growing awareness among many Ursuline schools that this network can provide a means of mutual support and development amongst our schools by sharing spiritual and intellectual resources. It has also been considered that the international nature of the Ursuline schools helps foster a crucial global awareness in students and staff and an appreciation of other cultures and societies. Those who become part of the community of St Ursula's College inherit this rich tradition and heritage. They also have the privilege of contributing to the dynamic shaping of the charism of Angela Merici as it is embodied in this place and time. Established in 1931, St Ursula's College is a dynamic Catholic day and boarding school for girls in Years 7-12. The College is part of Ursuline schools' global network and is a faith-filled community inspired by the motto- Serviam: I will serve. St Ursula's College provides an innovative and caring environment where girls are challenged to be critical thinkers, curious learners, confident communicators, and leaders. We empower our girls to apply their gifts and talents to realize their potential as agents of transformation in a contemporary world. Like our Foundress, St. Angela Merici, who lived in the 16th century in Italy and established the Ursuline Order, we are committed to seeking new possibilities to maximize opportunities in any sphere of life. The spirit of St Angela shapes our educational approach, where students are celebrated for their unique qualities and potential to step forward in others' empowerment. As educators, we continue to be inspired and directed to deepen our understanding of the human person and our relationship with God. At St Ursula's College, we live out this vision through our mission to grow in wisdom, justice, and integrity. View full school
