About Me

  1. The journey of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) started in 1930 in Medical Corps Hospital, meant for medical aid to military personnel exclusively. In 1942 it was renamed the British General Hospital and remained as such till 1947 a 100 bedded hospital with all necessary basic facilities. JPMC declares its mission to Improve Education and healthcare in Pakistan by imparting quality education and care. Promotion of research and generation of knowledge and skill development. Provide quality healthcare to all irrespective of ability to pay. Explore avenues for resource generation. The opening ceremony was a grand affair. The first class of students was inducted on 1st June 1959. In 1963, the amalgamation of BMSI and all units of JCH led to the creation of JPMC with the combined administration headed by a Director. JPMC, thus established, comprised of a cluster of buildings spread over 148 acres. It can now proudly claim to be the biggest and the best equipped public sector hospital in Pakistan, employing highly qualified staff in numerous specialties, ready to render quality health care services to the ailing. In the process, JPMC also imparts high-quality training to medical graduates, nurses, and technicians and undertakes meaningful research in clinical and basic medical sciences. It is a matter of pride and joy for me to be the custodian of the oldest Postgraduate Medical Education and Research Centre of the country at the launch of the first comprehensive website of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). It is no surprise that the community this hospital has served has rallied around JPMC and supported it in many aspects of its operations and service delivery, formally and informally. Consequently, JPMC has proved itself to be an excellent model of public/private partnership in higher medical Education, research, and health services delivery. JPMC is a flag bearer for higher medical Education and research in the country. JPMC has also trained and continues to train the largest number of postgraduate trainee doctors producing highly competent specialists in nearly all disciplines of Medicine and Surgery. Faced with recurring mass violence in the city, JPMC has again led the way by single-handedly and effectively dealing with victims of recurrent mass casualties. JPMC’s Blood Bank is self-sufficient and can provide fully screened, voluntarily donated blood and blood products at short notice. The three surgical units and surgical subspecialties, such as Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Urology, Neurosurgery, Thoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Orthopaedic surgery are some of the pioneer departments of the country. Similarly, the Medical Units, Medical ICU, and medical subspecialties such as Neurology, Nephrology, Oncology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Gastroenterology, National Poison Control Centre, and Endocrinology have all been developed through the efforts of generations of physicians working in JPMC. The Gynaecology & Obstetrics Department of JPMC performs the highest number of deliveries per year of any of the large hospitals in the city. The work environment of this department belies its existence in a public sector hospital in many areas. This has been made possible through the generous participation and donation of numerous individuals, NGOs, and foreign aid agencies. We are indeed proud of our ‘state-of-the-art’ Radiology Department, which is equipped with a wide range of cutting edge diagnostic and therapeutic radiology equipment and relevant expertise. The department now boasts of a newly installed Cyberknife, the only one in the country, to treat early cancers with radiation. With the installation of CyberKnife, JPMC offers the entire range of radiotherapy services in various other facilities like the Oncology/Radiotherapy Department and the Atomic Energy Medical Centre. JPMC also has the distinction of having established the first Nursing College of this country and the oldest Nursing School, which has trained successive generations of highly skilled and dedicated nurses. Training and Education in various other disciplines, such as Physical Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Medical Technology, and various Para-medical training courses, were also pioneered in this Institution. Meanwhile, there is a constant endeavor to improve and upgrade all our services, following the emerging knowledge in Healthcare delivery, Education, Training, and Research. View full university
  2. Interlochen was founded in 1928 and is located in beautiful northwest lower Michigan. Each year, thousands of artists and arts patrons come to Interlochen to experience world-class educational and cultural opportunities. Students study music, theatre, visual arts, film, creative writing, and dance, guided by an outstanding faculty and guest artists, and inspired by our campus's scenic beauty. Interlochen Center for the Arts engages and inspires people worldwide through excellence in educational, artistic, and cultural programs, enhancing the quality of life through the arts' universal language. As academic counselors, we realize that each student's educational experiences and personal uniqueness are distinctive, so the advice is specifically tailored for the individual. The counselor's primary responsibility is to guide the student's journey through his/her years at Interlochen. There are many parts to this responsibility. Although registering a student for classes is commonly thought of as a counselor's sole responsibility, we realize that our role is more than registration. For young artists, nothing is better than living and learning alongside others who share a creative passion. Students have countless opportunities to perform and share their work with others. In turn, they enjoy and learn from their peers' work, who are some of the most dedicated young artists in the world. With support and encouragement from friends, faculty, and well-known guest artists, Academy students find time for self-discovery and growth. They find a place where they can be themselves. The campus is a safe, residential setting where students learn independence and self-reliance sooner than their peers attending other schools - a real advantage when preparing for college. Despite their busy schedules, students still find time to have fun and develop friendships that last a lifetime. Deep conversations over dinner in Stone Cafeteria, impromptu jam sessions, weekly "coffeehouses" performances, walk through the woods, enjoying a guest artist performance, and organized off-campus trips - these are some of the ways students can relax and enjoy the company of their friends and fellow artists. Comprehensive college-preparatory classes prepare students for future success—in any field. Students attend class from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, merging accelerated academic instruction with intensive artistic studies. Arts and academic instructors collaborate to provide a holistic approach to learning where maths, science, history, and literature complement a student's creativity. The academic faculty use students' strengths as creative learners to develop a greater appreciation for academic subjects. The process opens students' eyes to the sciences and humanities while preparing them for the rigors of the world's most competitive colleges and universities.
  3. The mission and tradition of the Law Center are to provide access and opportunity to a diverse group of students from underrepresented racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to obtain a high-quality legal education with particular emphasis on the Louisiana civil law. Additionally, our mission is to train a cadre of lawyers equipped with the skills necessary for law and leadership positions in society. The SULC Office of Financial Aid is committed to helping prospective and current students understand and plan for the financial investment involved in pursuing a law degree. Financial assistance from many sources is available to help pay for your legal education. The SULC financial aid staff will make every effort to assist you in identifying these sources. SULC has the lowest in-state tuition rate in Louisiana. Although loans and work-study programs are sources of financial assistance, the Southern University Law Center provides additional assistance through scholarships, awards, and gifts from alumni and other sources. It is possible that any award listed may not materialize due to the unavailability of funds. Graduating from SULC, you will become part of an expansive 4,000+ national network of alumni working in both the public and private sectors as lawyers, judges, entrepreneurs, CEOs, legislators, business professionals, policy advisers, and districts and U.S. attorneys, and public defenders. The Office of Career Services focuses on helping students make the connection to employment opportunities. Career Services constantly explores new resources to assist students with their job search efforts. Its goals are to provide the students with the most up-to-date information regarding the job market and assist each student with their individual career development needs. When you attend SULC, you join a warm, family-like environment with a small classroom setting that fosters excellent relationships between students and professors. Professors and fellow law students show tremendous pride in each other’s accomplishments. An array of on-campus and off-campus activities, educational and social, encourages learning and camaraderie, making SULC one of the best places in the world to be a law student. The Southern University Law Center provides students with a once-in-a-lifetime experience to obtain an invaluable legal education. Southern University Law Center (SULC) administers one of the most comprehensive Academic Support Programs in the country. Through its Office of Academic Support, the law school offers various programs designed to help students transition to the rigors of a law school academic environment. In light of our mission of accepting non-traditional law students, the Office of Academic Support also assists those who have not been in an academic setting for several years and are first-generation law students. The programs of the Office of Academic Support provide opportunities to analyze and synthesize legal precedent, interpret statutes, and construct policy arguments. Additionally, the programs assist students in writing with clarity and precision. Once necessary law school learning skills have been developed, students are expected to proceed with their studies without significant supplemental assistance from the Office of Academic Support. As an SULC community member, you will become part of a rich history spanning nearly seventy years. Conceived on the historical cusp of significant changes in the social and legal fabric of our country, and nurtured in the rich tradition of training leaders in the law, business, and government who would help advance the causes of civil rights and equal justice for all, SULC today continues to evolve and lead as it prepares lawyer-leaders for the opportunities and challenges now and in the future. On December 16, 1946, in response to a lawsuit by an African-American resident seeking to attend law school at a state institution, the Louisiana State Board of Education took “positive steps to establish a Law School for Negroes at Southern University…to be in operation for the 1947-1948 session.” The State Board approved plans for the law school of Education at its January 10, 1947, meeting. On June 14, 1947, the Board of Liquidation of State Debt appropriated $40,000 for the school's operation. The Southern University Law School was officially opened in September 1947 to provide legal education for African-American students. Southern University Law Center graduates, beginning with the legendary civil rights attorney, political leader, and educator Jesse N. Stone, Jr., Alvin Basile Jones, Leroy White, Ellyson Fredrick Dyson, and Alex Louis Pitcher of the class of 1950, have spread across the state and nation as trailblazers in the legal profession, securing equal rights for others. To date, the Law Center has more than 2,500 graduates and is one of the nation’s most racially diverse law schools. After 38 years of operation as a School of Law, the Southern University Board of Supervisors re-designated the school as the Southern University Law Center, enhancing its image in the region and the nation. The Law Center stresses legal education of high quality for students from diverse backgrounds.

These opportunities are most prevalent each term through participation in campus life, committees, student organizations, ArtCenter Student Government, and the Orientation Leader experience. Students interested in becoming Orientation Leaders can apply for a paid position at the beginning of each term. The Orientation Leader experience includes training on College services, policies, and programs, and opportunities for social networking, mentorship, and connections to College departments. Student leaders are hired each term based on the size of the incoming class and need per significant department. Student Leadership Education and Development (SLED) Grants are designed to catalyze ArtCenter students' opportunities that directly shape their development in and out of the classroom. The fund is intended to support co-curricular activities that complement a student's learning but are not linked to any educational endeavors for credit or certification at ArtCenter. The hope is that students will develop leadership competencies and amplify their exposure and engagement to a variety of topics and issues relevant to College-wide educational outcomes. The fund is explicitly focused on enabling students to participate in off-campus activities such as educational conferences, workshops, service learning projects for the community, and other initiatives that demonstrate the potential for learning leadership skills, educational growth in a field of their interest, and networking. Like many ideas emerging from ArtCenter throughout the decades, the very concept for such a school was visionary. Edward A. "Tink" Adams was an advertising man with a radical idea in education: to teach real-world skills to artists and designers and prepare them for leadership roles in advertising, publishing, and industrial design. To achieve that, he would create a faculty of working professionals from those fields. ArtCenter opened in 1930 with Adams serving as its director. The viability of the idea he and a small group of colleagues launched was quickly proven. Even amid the Great Depression, ArtCenter graduates quickly found employment. In the years since the caliber of our faculty and visiting artists have been extraordinary: Ansel Adams taught photography here on a visit to campus, Keith Haring painted a mural science fiction author Bruce Sterling was the College's first "Visionary in Residence." Our alumni include many of the world's leading car designers, contemporary filmmakers (Man of Steel, Transformers, The Vow), ad makers ("Thatsa one spicy meatball," "Got Milk?"), concept illustrators, (The Avengers, Star Wars), artists (The Blue Dog), product designers (Apple monitor, Oakley Zeros, Kikoman soy sauce dispenser) and others who have shaped culture with their talents and vision.

And we hope you feel this way beyond the confines of our campus as our students, faculty, and staff reach out into the surrounding communities, the nation, and the world. The University of Nebraska Medical Center builds on a rich, vibrant history that dates back to the end of the 19th century. UNMC continues to be committed to its mission to improve the health of Nebraskans and beyond. From the state's first medical college in 1880 to a dental college (1903), pharmacy college (1908), nursing college (1917), allied health training programs (the early 1930s), and the Graduate College (1942), UNMC not only expanded to meet the needs of future health professionals but also consolidated several of its colleges into an Omaha campus destined to sustain its growth. The expansion includes the College of Nursing brick-and-mortar sites in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Scottsbluff, and Norfolk, Nebraska. They were built to advance nursing care, and address predicted critical shortages of nurses and nursing faculty. UNMC formed the College of Public Health in 2006. It's state-of-the-art building -- named the Harold M. and Beverly Maurer Center for Public Health -- opened in 2011. In 2015, the School of Allied Health Professions became the College of Allied Health Professions.
  12. The University of Mississippi Medical Center, located in Jackson, is the state's only academic health science center. UMMC includes seven health science schools: medicine, nursing, dentistry, health-related professions, graduate studies, population health, and pharmacy. (The School of Pharmacy is headquartered on the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford.) Enrollment in all programs is more than 3,000 students. The Medical Center's three-part mission is to improve Mississippians' lives by educating tomorrow's health care professionals, conducting health sciences research, and providing cutting-edge patient care. The Medical Center's primary goal is the elimination of differences in the health status of Mississippians based on race, geography, income, or social status. Integral to its education and research missions, UMMC provides wide-ranging patient care programs. Three specialized hospitals on the Jackson campus include the only children's hospital in Mississippi, a women and infants' hospital, a critical care hospital, and University Hospital. UMMC offers the only Level 1 trauma center, the only Level 4 neonatal intensive care nursery unit, and the only organ transplant programs in the state, in addition to many other referral services. University Physicians, the School of Medicine's faculty group practice, includes about 500 doctors, many of them among leaders in their field, who care for patients in the hospitals and clinics on campus, around the Jackson metro area, and in outreach clinics around the state. UMMC includes two community hospitals, UMMC Holmes County and UMMC Grenada. With more than 10,000 full- and part-time employees, UMMC is one of Mississippi's largest employers. The Medical Center's $1.6 billion annual budget - approximately one-tenth from state appropriations - represents 10 percent of the Jackson metro area economy and two percent of the state economy. UMMC continues to grow in all its mission areas. The mission of the University of Mississippi Medical Center is to improve the health and well-being of patients and the community through excellent training for health care professionals, engagement in innovative research, and the delivery of state-of-the-art health care. The University of Mississippi Medical Center will be a premier academic health sciences system that is recognized nationally for high-quality clinical care, innovative research, and training committed health care professionals who work together to improve health outcomes and eliminate health care disparities. Children's of Mississippi provides health care designed just for kids through Batson Children's Hospital plus clinics statewide. From world-renowned studies on heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension to advanced treatment for cancer and a human physiology simulation program used by NASA, researchers at the University of Mississippi Medical Center are unraveling the diseases that affect Mississippians, creating new, high-tech jobs, and injecting tens of millions of dollars annually into the state's economy. UMMC aims to lead the way to discoveries that will raise the health level of Mississippians and, indeed, all humanity. Effective teaching of current knowledge is an essential mission of all universities. However, original research enlarges the boundaries of human knowledge, drives innovation, and is a leading university hallmark. UMMC has many notable research achievements since its inception in 1955. In recent years the institution has undergone considerable expansion of research programs and physical facilities. In turn, extramural research funding doubled in less than five years. Much of this expansion can be attributed to increased investment in infrastructure and additional distinguished research faculty recruitment. ORSP contributes to the university's responsibilities for education, research, and service by assisting UMMC employees seeking external support for their research and other programmatic activities. ORSP is also responsible for the post-award administration of contracts and grants awarded to UMMC. The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson is the health sciences campus of the University of Mississippi. The Medical Center opened in 1955, but its beginnings date to 1903 when a two-year medical school was established on Oxford's parent campus. In that era, certificate graduates went out of state to complete their doctor of medicine degrees. In its history dating to 1903 on the University of Mississippi campus, the Medical Center has been fortunate to have a series of strong institutional leaders. Over many years, they provided visionary leadership and managed the rapid growth of UMMC after it opened in Jackson in 1955. Finally, in 1950, the Mississippi Legislature - by a one-vote margin - enacted a law to create a four-year medical school. On July 1, 1955, the state's new University Medical Center, or UMC as it was commonly called, opened in Jackson, initially as a four-year medical school with medical and graduate students, interns, and residents. As it had in Oxford, the School of Medicine offered both medical and graduate degree programs. The campus included a teaching hospital and a library. The Medical Center functions as a separately funded, semi-autonomous unit responsible to the chancellor of the University of Mississippi and, through him, to the constitutional Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, which governs all eight state institutions of higher learning in Mississippi. The Medical Center's chief executive officer is the vice chancellor for health affairs.

The two groups were the Norwegian-Danish Free Church Association and the Swedish Evangelical Free Church of America. Since 1897, Trinity has flourished through many transitions. The latest transition occurred in January 1995 when Trinity College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois and Trinity College in Miami, Florida united to become Trinity International University. The entire university is international and committed to serving the global church. Trinity offers students an international vision in a world that is increasingly independent and enrolls students from over forty countries on all our campuses. Whether preparing to be pastors or missionaries or attorneys, teachers, counselors, scientists, corporate leaders, homemakers or public servants, whatever our calling under God, we need excellence in education, grounded in the lordship of Jesus Christ. That is the goal and task of Trinity International University. Trinity educates men and women to engage in God’s redemptive work in the world by cultivating academic excellence, Christian faithfulness, and lifelong learning. At the heart of Trinity’s mission lies its commitment to engage the culture for Jesus Christ. 15. The land that is now the site of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler has a rich history of commitment and dedication to patient care and community health. From its early beginnings in 1943 as the 1,000-bed Camp Fannin Army hospital site during World War II through decades of fighting against pulmonary diseases like tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and asbestosis, UT Health Science Center has served the citizens of Texas with distinction. Great strides have been made in subsequent years, advancing healthcare through biomedical research one discovery at a time in scientific areas including lung injury and repair, infectious lung diseases, and cancer, to name just a few ongoing research projects. Today, the biomedical research conducted at UT Health Science Center is nationally recognized and competitively funded by private foundations, non-profit organizations, the Centers for Disease Control, and the gold standard of research support – the National Institutions of Health. As UT Health Science Center continues to make its dreams a reality, the tradition of excellence and public service that began with a barracks hospital 75 years ago remains a core commitment today. With exceptional patient care, comprehensive education, and innovative research, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and UT Health East Texas combine to serve as the university medical center for Northeast Texas and beyond. A shield defends our communities in Northeast Texas. It protects our health today and safeguards our health and wellness for the future. It stands stalwart between the people we care about and the illnesses, epidemics, and hazards that threaten them. That shield is The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. Our academic mission is a shield forged of three parts – graduate medical education, graduate education, and biomedical and clinical research. Three integral, interconnected components joined unlike anywhere else in Northeast Texas. As the region's only university medical center, UT Health Science Center is home to some of the latest developments in patient care and community health, medical and health education, and biomedical and clinical research. Only about five percent of hospitals qualify as university medical centers. However, this small group of elite institutions is our nation's primary conduit between first-rate patient care, education, research, and the communities we serve. There is a physician shortage in rural counties throughout Northeast Texas. That is why the UT Health Science Center trains the next generation of doctors. Both locally and globally, new and familiar diseases continue to threaten countless lives. That is why UT Health Science Center conducts biomedical and clinical research and trains much-needed future scientists to understand and combat these diseases and infections. Complex problems require sophisticated, modern solutions. That is why UT Health Science Center trains graduate biotechnology students to lead the innovation revolution at the forefront of modern science. Northeast Texas is the sickest and most rural region in the state with profoundly unfavorable health disparities. That is why UT Health Science Center trains public health graduate students to establish systematic, long-term health education and wellness initiatives to promote health for those who need these programs the most. This comprehensive approach makes UT Health Science Center the first and best hope to fortify the long-term health and wellness of Northeast Texas. The challenges we face are significant, but our resolve is more significant at the UT Health Science Center. Every day at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, we look to our mission and vision to guide our education, research, and patient care initiatives. In partnership with communities across our region, we are improving individuals' and communities' health. We will be a great institution, unified in common purpose, to benefit human health and improve life quality.h other universities, industries, and businesses. The office coordinates externally funded research projects that support research development, post-award management, and technology commercialization. It represents the UT System's interests, the university president, and the university community in their relationships with external funding agencies and sponsors.

Advancing research and economic development is at the core of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center's mission. Research funding has directly contributed to UTHSC's long record of necessary science accomplishments, applied clinical and translational research, and public health, allowing us to continue our contributions to the health of the Memphis-area community. Through collaborative relationships with health care partnerships like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, we are well-positioned to pave the way for innovative patient-centered research and development with a clinical and translational focus. The University of Tennessee Health Science Center's Memphis campus comprises six colleges – Allied Health Sciences, Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Clinically, UTHSC faculty practice groups contribute more than $300 million annually to the statewide mission. These practice groups serve as the core faculty for all of our partner teaching hospitals. The University of Tennessee Health Science Center recognizes the value of having an inclusive environment in which individuals from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, races and ethnicities, physical and mental abilities, ages, creeds, cultures, and prior work/life experiences can learn and work together in an environment that values differences. To foster this environment, UTHSC has developed a series of guidelines for selecting students for its academic programs. Diversity provides essential benefits for the educational enterprise, enriching experiences in the classroom and clinical settings and facilitating students' preparation for the different types of environments they may be asked to serve – rural/ urban, affluent/underserved multi-cultural/traditional, etc. Thus, the campus actively encourages applications from individuals who bring unique perspectives to its programs. Admission criteria for academic programs will continue to emphasize academic excellence. However, additional non-academic factors will also be considered and some additional consideration given to applications from qualified individuals from groups that are underrepresented in the health care professions or from counties in Tennessee that are traditionally underserved by the health care professions, from veterans, from other non-traditional students and from students who represent the first in their families to pursue higher education. UTHSC holds a yearly Campus Food Drive and United Way Campaign to help others and strengthen our community. Health Career Programs (HCP) prepares the next generation of individuals to become culturally competent and relevant healthcare professionals and educators. The Clinica Esperanza is a primary care clinic run by UTHSC College of Medicine students, residents, and faculty that offers free services to underserved, uninsured Latino adults. The Rachel Kay Stevens Therapy Center is a student-run pro bono clinic founded to serve the underinsured or uninsured children of the Mid-South from birth to 18 years. In 1911, the University of Tennessee launched its Memphis campus, dedicating it solely to health science education and research. Seed programs in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy quickly flourished, and within a few short years, new programs were initiated in health professions, graduate health sciences, and nursing. Each of those programs grew to become a college in its own right. In 1963, the UT Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, based at the UT Medical Center, became part of the UT Health Science Center. In 1974, the UT College of Medicine in Chattanooga, based at Erlanger Health System, joined the UTHSC System. In 2014, Saint Thomas Health in Nashville began collaborating with UTHSC to create a Nashville campus.
