Choosing the right school for your child is vitally important. Most parents want a good education for their children but they also want them to be happy and feel safe and secure. At Ysgol y Parc we believe we can offer all these things.
We pride ourselves on the broad balanced and full education we provide for all our pupils, and the high standards of teaching and learning are a credit to the hard work of both staff and children. Equally, we are also proud of the atmosphere of respect and support which is always evident. Many visitors to the school comment on the warm welcome they receive and the politeness and maturity of our pupils. The Estyn Inspection (Report July 2017) stated that: Ysgol y Parc Infants’ School is an inclusive, welcoming, and caring community for all pupils.
Teachers and pupils recognize and celebrate diversity well. As a result, a culture of mutual care and respect permeates across the school. Pupils have equal access to all areas of the school’s curriculum and the wide range of extra-curricular activities provided. The wellbeing of all pupils is a priority of the school and this underpins its caring ethos. The school is a very well-organized teaching and learning community. Our end of Foundation Phase results are always very high and children leave us ready to continue their educational journey in Junior School.
The school ethos is a positive one where children are rewarded and praised daily to build their confidence and self-esteem. We are very lucky to have an attractive building in an open setting. The school was built in 1973 and as the school grew an extension was built in 1996. We are a community school with facilities for educating children between the ages of 3 to 7. We are a two-form entry school and we have a Nursery with its cloakroom facility and fenced grassed and hard play area.
The main school has a hard play area with a large grassed area. There is an adventure playground on the main playing field. The grassed area has benches, tables, and logs for the children to use. The Nursery has its adventure playground and outdoor area. Year two has an outdoor area with an outdoor theatre to encourage the use of Literacy in the outdoors. There is a school farm that currently houses chickens and rabbits. The school has an excellent Forest School site which has its outdoor classroom, called ‘Caban Coed’. There is a veranda to the front of the school which is also used for learning activities.
