Epsom's reputation as one of the UK's leading independent schools is built on the character, attitude, and application of its pupils.
Great schools are about the creation of community and the personal development of all who contribute to them. In 1855, Dr. John Propert established this College to assist the orphans of medical families to an education that developed the whole character pupils received free housing, clothing, and schooling as an expression of Propert’s altruism.
In recent times, the academic advancement of the College has received wide public recognition, a sister school has been opened in Malaysia and a Lower School launched triumphantly in 2016.
A belief in the breadth of an education unites this community.
We want our pupils to live happily and fulfilled lives, we want them to find a passion for things that will matter to them, we want them to experience challenge and achievement, and an attachment to the life of the mind. Pupils learn every minute of every day and the setting of our 85-acre estate presents pupils with beauty unawares, the rolling Epsom Downs provide space in which to develop, with central London just 15 miles away on the horizon.
As a community, we recognize that pupils find success and achievement in a host of different ways and personal successes are to be gained at many levels of experience.
The breadth of opportunity at Epsom, the passion and commitment discovered, the values learned, transforms our pupils and instill a belief that they can make a difference in society.
Each year, for the past five years, Epsom has posted record exam results, making us the top-performing independent co-educational school in Surrey. We sit proudly in The Telegraph’s Top 100 Independent Schools for GCSE and A-level results, and 20th in The Times’ GCSE rankings for independent co-ed schools.
