Welcome to Cobham Hall. Cobham Hall is an independent girls’ school surrounded by 150 acres of beautiful Kent countryside and yet very close to London.
We are a school that prides itself on bringing out the best in each of our girls by providing them with an education that allows them to focus on discovering more about themselves as individuals. In our caring and supportive environment, the girls are encouraged to believe that there is more in them than they think and to remain open to the numerous opportunities the school offers them.
Curious, courageous, and creative, Cobham girls like to give things a go and are not afraid to learn from their mistakes. They know that sometimes things worth having need more perseverance. They get excited about doing well themselves but are also generous in celebrating the successes of others. Above all, they also love to have fun in the process!
Our staff want the best for the girls and use their subject knowledge and compassion to achieve the most they can for every pupil. The staff understands the importance of an education which encompasses the academic as well as the softer skills in preparing the girls for life beyond school. The genuine mutual respect and trust that exists between staff and girls make for a positive learning experience where the girls feel comfortable being challenged to be their very best.
At Cobham Hall, we believe that brilliance lies within each of our girls. It is our responsibility to provide the academic knowledge to flourish, but also to inspire each girl to find her path in life. We support them in developing the confidence to pursue their goals.
We believe that success can only be achieved by enabling our girls to have the courage to push themselves. This is realized through a set of core values – Trust, Respect, Honesty, Kindness, Tolerance – that create and instill a moral framework of behavior: a support network that allows each girl to know that their peers and the staff around them will be there to cheer them on as they succeed, or help them back up if they fall.
One thing often mentioned at each Open Morning is ‘that feeling’. Something that is perhaps difficult, to sum up in words, but there’s a sense of welcome that fills the air and is felt when you walk through the doors.
For the girls daily, Cobham Hall is home and the people here family. That applies to Day Girls as well as Boarders. There may be an outing on a weekend organized by our Housemistresses, but Day Girls are more than welcome to join, just as they are always welcome at the breakfast or supper table.
As a non-denominational school, we take students from all walks of life, enabling us to live, work, and learn in a diverse, culturally-rich environment and girls relish the opportunity to learn from and about one another.

We aspire to offer a caring environment and an inclusive spirit and encourage girls to challenge themselves. We believe that by taking part in everything Cobham Hall has to offer, our girls discover more about themselves. In turn, they excel academically and leave us fully prepared for the path they have chosen.
Education should be about preparing students for life beyond school. At Cobham Hall, girls acquire the knowledge they need to pass examinations but also learn the skills needed to apply, assess, evaluate, use, re-evaluate, and develop that knowledge as they journey through life, enabling them to thrive after school and beyond in a world constantly changing and enveloped in an environment of ‘alternative facts’ and ‘fake news.

We believe in educating the individual. Being a small school allows us to be aware of each pupil’s talents, strengths, and potential, and we aim to encourage every girl to develop all aspects of their character.
Girls have the attention they need academically, allowing each to be challenged both inside and outside of the classroom, to push herself beyond her comfort zone. They also get the support they need pastorally our supportive environment means girls have the confidence to put themselves forward, to take a chance, to not stand back and watch others but to get involved, and – just as crucially – pick themselves up if things don’t go as planned.
As a school where everyone knows everyone, we have a natural advantage in providing excellent, individual care for all our girls. Strong communication between Pastoral, Academic, and Boarding staff ensures that each girl gets the care and support needed to thrive.
We aim to provide and encourage girls to take, as many opportunities as possible. This develops a wide range of interests, skills, and abilities in each student.
Our strong Extra-Curricular Programme offers a range of activities that provide the girls with the opportunity to have fun as well as develop or learn new skills. As a Round Square school, girls have the opportunity to travel the world for conferences, exchanges, or ‘Big Build’ Service Projects. These are in addition to the day-to-day fabric of Cobham Hall: activity mornings, positions of leadership, and service activities.
We celebrate diversity in all its forms, from the many different nationalities, backgrounds, abilities, and talents that make up our student body, to the numerous and varied opportunities provided to develop and challenge our girls.
In a world that is being drawn ever closer together by technology, global awareness and tolerance are increasingly important. At Cobham Hall, with students joining us from around 30 different countries, girls live this as well as learn it. The resulting dynamic enriches the experience for every girl. Girls learn and have reinforced every day, that they can work side-by-side with those of a different culture, language, religion, or social background and achieve real results simply by recognizing the strengths and talents of each individual.
Cobham Hall is ideally located. Situated on the edge of the Kent Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the School is based in an impressive 16th Century Manor House nestled in 150 acres of historic parkland an idyllic rural setting, yet with excellent transport links.
Originally home to British nobility, our school family makes excellent use of the grounds and surrounding areas. Girls can practice in the Downs for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions, have campfires in the clearing where Charles Dickens’ writing chalet once stood, or enjoy BBQs in Lady Darnley’s garden. The grounds can be used for enhancing classroom studies: data for environmental studies, space for physical education, and natural sets for drama or film studies are all just outside the door of our teaching block. They can also enjoy life’s simpler pleasures: climbing trees, picking daffodils, and simply relaxing in the sunshine. All are activities that develop our girls’ physical, social, moral, and spiritual qualities, alongside the academic success that flourishes as a result.
