WIC students are ready for the challenges and opportunities life presents them. They grow strong, self-assured, and motivated by each WIC experience. Through academic rigor and a supportive environment, our students become resilient problem-solvers who believe they can, and will achieve what they set out to do.
Together WIC students and faculty build a powerful culture of creativity that is without boundaries. We are critical thinkers who challenge ideas, pave new paths and encourage inventiveness whenever possible. As a close-knit community, we know and care about each other. We foster an environment where students can feel supported while building their futures.
A premier, independent, post-secondary preparatory school located in the southeast quadrant of the City of Calgary, we are a co-educational, bilingual day school for high achieving students. Since our founding in 1982, we have attained a reputation for nurturing outstanding academic achievements, inspiring community service, and catering to the personal development of each student. Additionally, students also come from Okotoks, Bragg Creek, and Cochrane.
At WIC, incredible opportunities happen every day in an environment where learning is tailored to each student where relationships are nurtured through effective teamwork and collaboration, and where students are immersed in a community of enthusiastic learners. WIC emphasizes respect, responsibility, and citizenship. We believe that inspiring our students to pursue excellence in academics, leadership, athletics and global awareness prepares them for success in the future.
In addition to exceptional teachers and staff, an Advanced Placement Program, Fine Arts Certificate, outstanding athletics, small class sizes, and an extensive co-curricular program with leadership opportunities, WIC offers courses in French (Immersion or Second Language)and Spanish. These are just some of the incredible advantages of being a WIC student.
Through WIC’s International Studies program, authentic student leadership opportunities, Outdoor Education, and WIC’s Business, Health Sciences, Engineering, and Liberal Arts Institutes, students are challenged to go beyond their comfort zones and discover what experiential learning means. The current enrollment is 550 students in small class sizes from Grades 7 to 12. Historically, between 98 to 100 percent of WIC graduates transition to post-secondary education.
Students are selected to attend WIC based on their performance on standardized entrance tests where average intellectual potential and skill acquisition, as a minimum, must be demonstrated. In addition, students must display social maturity commensurate with their age at the time of testing. This maturity is evaluated during a personal interview and through guided letters of reference.
