As a private school, Tapply Binet College is registered with and regularly inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education. The TBC staff offers a collaborative teaching approach to the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum expectations. Fun, innovative teachers help create a comfortable atmosphere for student engagement in the learning process. Teachers at TBC are fully qualified specialists in their subject discipline and have been successfully evaluated by the Ontario Ministry of Education inspector for Private Schools.
Tapply Binet College was established in Ancaster in 2003. Since its inception, the school has experienced and welcomed ongoing change. Originally, TBC promised class sizes at half the Ministry cap. Ten years later, that number has proven to be too large to ensure that we meet our mission statement, which is our commitment to excellence in education through the provision of personalized quality service and care. We promise no more than 6 students per class! At Tapply Binet we believe that small class sizes empower the students and provide them with ownership of their academic achievements. It also allows the teachers to become intensively involved in each student’s learning process. Today, in our permanent location, we have established roots in the Historic Marshall House on Garner Road West in Ancaster
The mandate of Tapply Binet College has been formulated on the premise that education is a service and should be provided with the recognition of, and individual sensitivity to, diverse learning styles, coupled with sustained reference to external standards and accountability to students, parents, and guardians. The recognition of each student’s individuality is given utmost primacy. Tapply Binet College employs a visionary perspective which serves to ensure that each student acknowledges and realizes his or her potential. We believe that student empowerment and responsibility encourage ownership of one’s success and understanding of oneself as an active and valuable citizen of the school and larger community.
We are a private co-educational day school for students in grades 7 through 12. Our team is committed to excellence in education through the provision of personalized service and care. Tapply Binet offers a positive and supportive learning environment that ensures all students achieve their maximum potential. A Guidance Counsellor Specialist is available every step of the way during course selection and the process of choosing a career path and post-secondary education.
Flexibility in course delivery allows the teachers to meet the various needs of students with unique scheduling demands (e.g. sports activities, travel, illness, and/or other extra-curricular activities and responsibilities). If a student demonstrates interest and ability in a subject area, the opportunity for acceleration or enrichment is encouraged given parental approval.

Tapply Binet College is a viable alternative to other school systems. We are a small, caring, inclusive, non-denominational school. Our teachers are committed to maximum learning with every student. We are balanced socio-economically and collaborative in our approach to education. At TBC, we foster equity in all respects. There are no entrance exams because we believe that early assessment would exclude students from our unique team approach to providing programs suited to each student's individual needs.
Earning credits at Tapply Binet College takes shape in traditional and non-traditional ways. The school honors and abides by the mandatory time allotted by the Ontario Ministry of Education of 110 hours per course. When those hours of instruction and class time occur, however, is determined by how each personalized timetable is structured. With small classes and flexibility in course delivery, fulfilling Ministry expectations is easily accomplished.
