Our school, set in the beautiful eastern Fraser Valley, began as a dream to offer high quality, Christian education in partnership with like-minded families. Since 1978, we have pursued that dream by developing a nurturing community that strives to provide our students with an academically challenging, emotionally supportive, Bible-based education. Our goal is that our students be independent, lifelong learners who understand that there are a purpose and plan for their lives and make a difference in their world. Highroad Academy is pleased to warmly welcome families and provides personal tours. We invite you to come and discover whether Highroad Academy is the right fit for your family.
Each child's spiritual development is cultivated through a Bible story circle time that includes songs and prayer and spontaneous discussions about God and Christ-like living. We are a play-based preschool program with a wide range of educational activities, including arts and crafts, sensory experiences, dramatic play, movement and music, beginning letter and number recognition, and science discovery. We believe in the importance of engagement in God's creation through outdoor play and exploration.
We foster relationships with our preschool children's families by hosting events that include: Parent Orientation, Open House, Mother's Day Tea, Father's Day events, Christmas concert, and End of the Year Celebration parties. We also communicate through monthly newsletters and our Facebook page. We believe that the early years are an essential time for children to learn foundational life skills and demonstrate servant attitudes toward others. Children learn these skills by promoting turn-taking, delayed gratification, empathy, and random acts of kindness.
As a Primary Department, we desire to be Christ-centered in our teaching, learning, and interactions with each other. We strive to provide an open and caring learning community where all students feel safe and cared for and function as a family where all students, regardless of their age or ability, feel accepted and included. Highroad Academy warmly welcomes prospective families and is pleased to provide personal tours at your convenience. We invite you to come and discover whether Highroad Academy is the right fit for your child.
WITS is a literature-rich program that uses children's stories to teach students social skills and work through social conflict. Students in K-3 learn to Walk Away, Ignore, Talk it out, and Seek help. Math U See begins in Kindergarten and builds throughout the primary grades, emphasizing place value, addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Spell to Write and Read is a multisensory phonemic approach to language arts that progresses from learning phonograms to spelling and reading.
Primary teachers connect with parents and families through classroom blogs. The blogs are used to keep parents informed of upcoming activities, keep them up to date on classroom learning, and post pictures of memories made in the classrooms and field trips. Highroad Academy provides students opportunities to learn the joy of serving through activities such as Service Day, Salvation Army food drive, missions fundraisers, garden projects, and campus-wide cleanup. We value teaching our students the importance of serving others.
The intermediate department at Highroad Academy is comprised of Grades 4-6. At the core of our program is a desire to model and inspire in students a deep-rooted love for Jesus, so they are motivated to pursue their growing relationship with Him while letting His character positively affect their relationships with others.
Our programs reflect a commitment to developing the creativity and passion for learning that God has given us. We offer a wide assortment of stimulating programs and activities, ranging from inquiry-based projects to core foundational programs. Our goal is to affirm students' strengths and challenge them as they grow to become responsible, independent life-long learners.
We teach the Ministry of Education curriculum from a Christian perspective. Our BC accredited teaching professionals are committed to offering the highest quality of education for each unique student in their class, providing them with a wide variety of opportunities to prepare them for life beyond high school. We offer all courses required for graduation, various electives to support skills, and a career program in preparation for the future.
Our unique programs allow students an opportunity to develop English language skills, to excel at academics, and to become part of a caring community that demonstrates the love of Christ, both at school and home with homestay families. Our international students are fully integrated into the classroom. We offer a selection of electives, clubs, and athletics to facilitate a well-rounded education, and all from a Christian perspective. We offer an accredited ELL course from Grades 9 – 11 and ELL Support and IELTS preparation for our students to prepare our students for graduation and university entrance.
