The Foundation Stage of school introduces young learners to school-life. Students develop their motor skills, foundation-level numeracy and literacy skills, and self-esteem through play-based learning activities in a safe and exciting environment. The three years (pre-KG, KG, and Reception) spent in the Early Years provide future learning. Students develop skills such as listening, speaking, concentrating, persistence and cooperating with others. The learning and development are planned around each student's needs and interests and assessed and reviewed regularly. All Early Years classes have a Teaching Assistant and nanny in the classroom in addition to the teacher.
Our Key Stage 1 students are still discovering their skills and competencies, and at this stage, they are introduced to subjects that will lay the foundation for learning as they go into higher year levels. Learning is still exciting, and the learning atmosphere is stimulating.
The Early Years curriculum requires teachers to use an integrated approach to early learning and care of students. They develop their styles of learning through exploration, active learning, creating, and thinking critically. Learning in our outdoor space is also essential for the early years' students. There are three characteristics of effective teaching and learning in the Early Years.
Assessment plays an integral part in helping parents, carers, and teachers recognize students' progress, understand their needs, and plan activities and support. Ongoing assessment (also known as formative assessment) is an integral part of the learning and development process. It involves practitioners observing students to understand their level of achievement, interests, and learning styles, and to then shape learning experiences for each student reflecting those observations. In their interactions with students, practitioners should respond to their day-to-day observations about students' progress and observations that parents and carers share.
In the final term of the year in which the student reaches age five, the EYFS Profile will be completed for each student. The Profile provides parents and carers, and teachers with a well-rounded picture of a student's knowledge, understanding, and abilities, progress against expected levels, and readiness for Year 1.
Life at NGPS highlights achieving healthy lifestyles. Morning assemblies stress the importance of exercise. Physical education classes put forth the value of maintaining a positive and healthy lifestyle. Our mini- canteen serves healthy food selections. Moreover, our curriculum places a premium on integrating positive and healthy life choices in most lessons.
NGPS gives equal importance to students of varying learning needs. On several occasions, students are provided with an individual learning plan to support them in their academic journey further. However, the school does not have any facilities to support SEN.
