The Hamilton and Alexandra College is a co-educational day and boarding school. We are incredibly proud of our strong history and traditional values and equally proud of our outstanding facilities and innovative educational programs. The College is highly respected as the prime educational institution in the local and regional community. It plays a vital role through its community work, leadership programs, and co-curricular programs. Day students commute from as far away as Warrnambool, Mortlake, Portland, and Lake Bolac. Our boarders come from rural and regional Australia and overseas.

We are very proud of our outstanding results, but our students leave College to embrace their future with so much more than a score that will open doors. They are well-rounded, happy students equipped with the skills and capacity to be the leaders and problem-solvers of the 21st Century. All of our students can pursue exciting sport, music, drama, service, adventure opportunities, and academic challenges.

The Hamilton and Alexandra College is an internationally focused school providing an innovative and broad education within an environment of Christian values, encouraging optimum achievement, fostering personality, and equipping our youth with skills and character to thrive and flourish throughout their lives. The College aims to:

    • Provide a happy, positive, and nurturing environment that is conducive to learning.
    • Extend each student to achieve their full academic potential through the provision of a challenging and broad curriculum.
    • Promote participation and a positive attitude towards all aspects of schooling.
    • Give students opportunities to experience a wide range of co-curricular activities, regardless of their expertise.
    • Provide a moral framework against which students can assess their actions and those of others.
    • Foster prepared, considerate, resilient, and confident young people.
    • Nurture personality and character development.

Our College boasts a long and proud history. The Hamilton and Western District Boys’ College was founded in 1871, and Alexandra College (a school for girls) was founded in 1872. Built by Western District residents who wanted their children to receive a good education in their district, the schools served as University Colleges, preparing students in their first year of tertiary education in the early years.
