St Joseph's has a proud reputation as one of Australia's leading independent Catholic schools. For 136 years, our College has educated boys to become confident, intelligent, and compassionate young men, capable of making a valuable contribution to their world.
The Marist Brothers founded the College in 1881, and Catholic faith values are central to everything we do. We strive to provide boys with a quality education that draws faith, culture, and life into harmony. We give boys access to exceptional learning opportunities within a caring, compassionate, and highly supportive Christian environment.
The St Joseph's College community celebrates learning, recognizes achievement, and rewards those who continually strive to do their best. It is essential to encourage our young people and their learning and growth journey, so they are compelled to use their talents in others' service. We endeavor to help them develop their skills, along with a strong sense of compassion and justice, so that they will make a positive difference to their community, their nation, and their world. Our Catholic faith values, and our Marist spirit, underpin everything we do and set us apart from other places.
At St Joseph's College, we educate boys of character and soul, guiding them with the example of Jesus Christ to be capable and compassionate young men, taking their place with confidence and integrity in their families, communities, and workplaces.
St Joseph's College is a Catholic school in the Marist tradition. Our vision is to educate boys for life, learning, and leadership for the common good. We reaffirm the values and traditions of a supportive, non-selective learning and Catholic faith environment. We commit to excellence in an integrated teaching and learning program, co-curricular activities, and pastoral care that seeks out, tests, and affirms the best in each boy. Our priority is to be known as a modern and successful school, building upon our great traditions, values, and community's strength.
The document, which was more than 12 months in the planning and involved extensive consultation with SJC stakeholders, is a public commitment to the direction of the College over the next five to six years.
The Strategic Plan 2013+ will support and further the vision and mission of St Joseph's by providing clear guidance for the College's strategic direction as a Catholic school educating in a Marist way. There are nine strategic priorities identified in the plan, each detailing several components and objectives identified as key to the future direction and development of the College and the College community. Over the coming years, the College will address each of these objectives and use annual implementation plans to track its progress.
Headmaster, Mr. Ross Tarlinton, said the plan builds on SJC's history as a Catholic college in the Marist tradition. "It promotes a deepened sense of who we are and whom we want to be – both as a learning institution and vibrant community."
"We are passionate about supporting and engaging members of our community and ensuring a strong and vibrant future for the College. The Strategic Plan 2013+ will position us to provide generations of boys with rich spiritual, academic, co-curricular, pastoral and social experiences which will help them develop into well educated, responsible young men of exceptional character."
Since 1881, St Joseph's College has guided boys to take their place with confidence and integrity in their families, communities, and workplaces. The Strategic Pan 2013+ will position the College to respond to an ever-evolving society and ensure a healthy and sustainable future as one of Australia's leading Catholic schools for boys. A digital version of the Strategic Plan 2013+ is available below. All College community members are encouraged to take the time to read through it to become familiar with the College's priorities for the coming years.
