Sattler Christian College offers quality educational facilities in a spacious and attractive natural bush environment. The College is located in the heart of the rural area of outer Darwin and is uniquely placed to take advantage of its rural location. The unique ‘homestead’ style classrooms have been specifically designed to maximize space for outdoor learning activities on wide, shady verandahs.
The College offers educational programs for around 150 students from Transition to Year 9 and also runs an Early Learning Centre for three to five-year-old children. Students from all grades share a shared enjoyment of each other, and staff fosters positive inter-age relationships through a buddy program and regular school events.
Sattler Christian College is currently in steady growth, as families in the rural area are attracted to the unique ‘look and feel’ of the school environment, the caring community, and the strong sense of vision and leadership. An integral and significant feature of the College is the ordinary mind and Christian perspective shared by all staff, and a sense of care and love for the school community. Formerly known as Litchfield Christian School, Sattler opened it is doors in 1996 as part of the NT Christian Schools Association and will continue to be a lively and vibrant part of the wider rural community into the future.
The school’s motto is ‘Growing in Wisdom, Learning to Love.’ This motto is regularly referred to by parents, students, and staff. For example, it is a key ‘touchstone’ in encouraging students to value one another and their learning. It is also an essential frame of reference for curriculum development and implementation. It is undoubtedly more than just rhetoric. All the staff is committed to Christians, which also significantly impacts how they love, nurture, and teach the students in their care.
Sattler Christian College is a member of the NT Christian Schools, formerly known as NTCSA. As well as striving to live out its motto, Sattler Christian College seeks to fulfill the NT Christian Schools Vision and Mission Statements. ‘To be Christian communities, learning together to live life as God intended, offering hope for the world’ (NT Christian Schools Vision Statement). ‘To seek to provide education, training, and care in faithful response to the Gospel of Christ.’ (NT Christian Schools Mission Statement).
