Established in 1894 by a Dominican Sisters group, Santa Sabina College nurtures intellectual curiosity, love of learning, and education for justice, inspired by gospel values. The Dominican motto of "Veritas" is part of our 800-year-old heritage, shared with Dominican schools around the world. As a P-12 College, we benefit from the continuity of learning approaches from the early years to Year 12. Inquiry learning in a student-centered learning environment characterizes each stage of the learning journey. Our early education center, Mary Bailey House, embeds inquiry learning principles through the Reggio Emilia program. The P-5 Primary Campus is an authorized world school for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate. The inquiry is at the core of the PYP and happens to be closely aligned to traditional Dominican approaches to education.
Our Middle (Years 6-8) and Senior (Years 9-12) campuses are similarly committed to the inquiry at increasingly sophisticated levels. The strategic intent is to grow a community of discerning scholars who are intellectually curious, creative, and reflective. The pastoral care of our students is integral to our approaches to teaching and learning. The structures and processes we employ at different stages of a student's education share common principles: respectful relations, the dignity of the individual, compassionate understanding. We encourage our students to make good choices and support them when they do not. Our aim is always to work with students and families in a spirit of community. The emotional, social, and spiritual growth of our students is critical to their present and future lives. It cannot be an afterthought to academic achievement. Learning beyond "The Boulevarde" is enabled through a wide variety of educational experiences. Students participate in retreats, outdoor education, curricular and co-curricular programs at our Tallong campus in the Southern Highlands. In the senior years, students are encouraged to participate in immersion experiences to Central Australia, the Solomon Islands, and South Africa to deepen their understanding of global interconnectedness. These experiences are part of the fabric of life at Santa Sabina. The significant sporting and co-curricular life of the College ensures that education is holistic and inclusive of a wide variety of student interests and abilities. Our Music education from P-12 is designed to maximize students' opportunities for authentic performances in a range of contexts. When your child enrolls at Santa Sabina College, your family becomes part of the community. We welcome parent involvement in the life of the College and witness its benefits every day. Our ex-student community is active, involved, and committed to both the legacy and the College's future. Our Dominican Sisters have a continuing presence on our campuses and offer pastoral support to families and students.
