Belmont Christian College is a Pre School to Year 12 College-based in beautiful Lake Macquarie. Founded in 1982, Belmont Christian College is a ministry of Belmont Baptist Church and is an active member of the local community. Based on the historic BHP John Darling coal mine, the College facilities are well maintained and contain much history.

Belmont Christian College has a holistic, caring, and nurturing approach to the Christ-centred, biblically-based curriculum to the employment of dedicated Christian staff and the challenge of "looking to the interests of others" with our mission focus meeting the needs of the precious children in our care.

Belmont Christian College is a place where parents are encouraged to be involved, a place where the staff sees their role not as a job but as a calling to a ministry, a place where each child is given the individual attention they need blossom and grow. This is a place where we recognize that life is a journey, and we are about preparing children for not only their life in this world but also for eternity.

Belmont Christian College is a welcoming Christian community. We seek to provide opportunities to enable all students to grow into well-balanced young adults with a love of learning and a love of Jesus Christ. Regardless of their particular area of strength or interest, we plan to provide a facility, an enthusiastic Christian teacher, a program, and an overall positive culture of achievement and faith, allowing students to pursue their passion. This helps give them a direction for life after school, careers, tertiary courses, spiritual pursuits, confidence, and self-esteem socially, interests, hobbies, and service.

The College is a Preschool (3-year-olds), PREP (4-year-olds) to Year 12, independent, coeducational day school, set on 7.5 hectares in Belmont North, a lakeside suburb of Lake Macquarie near Newcastle. BCC has a well-developed curriculum across all subject areas and year levels, continually being improved to ensure all students are fully engaged throughout their College life. Our extra-curricular program highlights many highlights from a range of sporting opportunities to music, dance, drama, design, marine studies, and IT. The pastoral care of students and their encouragement to "look to the interests of others" in service and mission opportunities challenges their spiritual and character development.

Belmont Christian College is a registered school, teaching a program based on the NSW NESA syllabus. The NSW curriculum has been written in Stages, and so it naturally follows that students be taught in Stages by the syllabus documents. Further to this, the Primary School places a high emphasis on the teaching rigor of Literacy and Numeracy in the first two sessions of each school day, and this will continue to be the focus where these subjects will be taught with rigor and intention. This approach allows extension and enrichment in these and other subject areas whereby students may move in and out of learning groups dependent on their ability level.

Our Primary School students enjoy a wide variety of learning experiences that cover the Key Learning Areas taught in all NSW schools, including Creative Arts: Music, Dance, and Visual Arts English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Personal Development, Health, and Physical Education. Also, Biblical Studies and a Devotions segment feature as part of each Stages'Stages' program. They provide the students with an opportunity to share, worship, pray, and learn from God'sGod's Word together. Like the rest of the College, the Primary School strongly focuses on the integration of Information Technologies throughout all Key Learning Areas. Throughout the day, the children are encouraged to respond to all they learn, and the world around them, from a Christian worldview.

The College offers an outstanding program of academic, vocational, sporting, cultural, and social experiences. We intentionally integrate into all facets of College life different opportunities for a developing understanding of a Christian worldview and spiritual growth. Students in the Secondary School have access to:

    • a widely varied curriculum
    • Stage 4 Home Room classes and Home Room teachers to minimize difficulties some students have with the transition to Secondary School
    • a dedicated morning physical activity program called Energise for Stage 4 students
    • varied Technology Mandatory subjects in Stage 4 that enables students to become responsible users of technologies and designers of solutions as well as a range of elective courses for Stage 5 and 6
    • ongoing pastoral care from staff who love working with their students
    • class sizes conducive to optimum learning opportunities
    • Distance Education through several accredited organizations providing a range of subjects via online and phone contact and course work booklets delivered to the student at the College.
    • a range of extra-curricular activities

Our highly experienced staff effectively deliver a pattern of study for our students focused on preparing them to be people who have a strong sense of self-respect and self-discipline, empathy, an ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and exercise problem-solving skills.
