    For the past 28 years, Govt. Model Engineering College has empowered its students to pave the way for excellence and innovation in engineering and technology. The institute is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and was the first engineering college to be established by the Government of Kerala under Human Resource Development (IHRD). The college was previously affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and has witnessed record-breaking placements year after year. MEC was featured 37 among the top 100 engineering colleges in India by Outlook magazine and 21 among the top 25 Govt. Engineering colleges in India by DataQuest.

    The college offers five undergraduate courses in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Biomedical Engineering, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering and four postgraduate courses, namely VLSI Design & Embedded systems, Image Processing, Signal Processing, & Communication Systems, and Energy Management.     The University's basic philosophy and goals find eloquent expression in its Coat of Arms emblazoning the motto "Tejaswinavadhitamastu" which in essence means "may the wisdom accrued deify us both the teacher and the taught and percolate to the Universe in its totality," which in a sense means "may learning to illumine us both" (the teacher and the taught).

    (i) to prosecute and promote research in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management, and social science for the advancement of knowledge and the betterment of society;

    University Library

    Established in 1977, the University Library is fully automated and one of the country's best scientific and technical libraries. It has built up a balanced and rich collection on all branches of Science and Technology and books of general interest in various subject fields. The KOHA FOSS package, a user-friendly library management software that supports all in-house activities of the Library, is installed here.

    The bibliographic records of books, journals, and theses in the Library can be accessed globally through WebOPAC(http://opac.cusat.ac.in.). The Library provides campus-wide IP-enabled access to online journals under the UGC- INFONET DIGITAL Library Consortia and INDEST Consortia, under which electronic full-text access is provided to the scholarly literature of all major areas of learning like IEEE digital library, Science Direct, ACS, RSC, Nature, IOP, Springer, etc.

    It also subscribes to online databases like Manupatra, Emerald, Proquest, CMIE Prowess, and SciFinder. Members can avail of inter-library loan service and document delivery service from DELNET for books and journal articles not available in the Library. An Institutional Repository "Dyuthi" where research publications and Ph.D. theses are available online to the public is also housed in Library.

  6. About Garden City University

    Garden City University is established under the Karnataka State Act no. 47 of 2013. The Garden City University Act received the assent of the Governor of Karnataka on 26th March 2013 and was published in the Karnataka Gazette on 12th April 2013. The University Grants Commission has listed Garden City University in the recognized list of Private Universities in India on its website http://www.ugc.ac.in

    History

    Garden City Education Trust was established in 1992 by Dr. Joseph V.G. with the support of like-minded educationists like Prof. Shivarudrappa - former Dean, Karnatak University, Dr. Hanumanthappa – former Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore University, Prof V.B. Coutinho - former Vice-Chancellor, Gulbarga University, and Prof. Rame Gowda - former Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Open University.

    The Trust was established to set up centers for educational excellence that would accept only qualitative practices nurturing students with value-based education.

    The Trust began its operations with Garden City College of Science and Management Studies, which has an “A - Grade,” the highest conferred to an educational institution when assessed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) – the premier accreditation body under the UGC consecutively in three cycles of accreditation. These institutions are ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14000:2004 certified.

    In 2013, the Government of Karnataka passed the “Garden City University Act,” considering the merits of the Garden City Education Trust. The Garden City University Act received the assent of the Governor of Karnataka on 26th March 2013 and was published in the Karnataka Gazette on 12th April 2013. A new university campus is being developed in a lush green area spread over 50 acres of land, adjacent to the Volvo manufacturing plant. This is a part of the 150 acres township envisaged by Dr. Joseph V G, which would have Knowledge Parks, IT and BT Parks, Hotels and Convention Halls, Shopping Malls, and Residential areas.

    Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the 23 IITs created to be Centres of Excellence for training, research, and development in science, engineering, and technology in India.

    Established as College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the "Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963" and was renamed as "Indian Institute of Technology Delhi." It was then accorded a Deemed University's status with powers to decide its academic policy, conduct its examinations, and award its degrees.

    Since its inception, over 48000 have graduated from IIT Delhi in various disciplines, including Engineering, Physical Sciences, Management, and Humanities & Social Sciences. Of these, nearly 5070 received Ph.D. degrees—the number of students who graduated with B.Tech. The degree is over 15738. The rest obtained a Master's Degree in Engineering, Sciences and Business Administration. These alumni today work as scientists, technologists, business managers, and entrepreneurs. Several alumni have moved away from their original disciplines and have taken to administrative services, active politics, or NGOs. In doing so, they have contributed significantly to building this nation and industrialization around the world.

    History of the Institute

    The concept of the IITs was first introduced in a report in the year 1945 by Sh. N.M.Sircar, then a member of Education on Viceroy's Executive Council. Following his recommendations, the first Indian Institute of Technology was established in the year 1950 in Kharagpur. In his report, Shri Sircar had suggested that such Institutes should also be started in different parts of the country. Having accepted these recommendations of the Sircar Committee, the Government decided to establish more Institutes of Technology with the assistance of friendly countries who were prepared to help. The first offer of help came from USSR, who agreed to collaborate to establish an Institute through UNESCO at Bombay. The Institutes of Technology followed this at Madras, Kanpur, and Delhi with West Germany, the USA, and the U.K., respectively. Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati was established in 1995, and the University of Roorkee was converted into an IIT in 2001.

    The Government of India negotiated with the British Government for collaboration in setting up an Institute of Technology at Delhi. The British Government agreed in principle to such a partnership but was inclined initially to start modestly. Therefore, it was decided that a College of Engineering & Technology should be established in Delhi with their assistance. A trust called the Delhi Engineering College Trust was established with the U.K. Government and the Federation of British Industries in London. Later H.R.H. Prince Philips, Duke of Edinburgh, during his visit to India, laid the foundation stone of the College at Hauz Khas on January 28, 1959.

    Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) (formerly known as Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET)) was established in 1968 by Government of India with the assistance of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at Chennai.     The Government of Uttar Pradesh established Uttar Pradesh Technical University (U.P.T.U.) on 8th May 2000 vide Act No. 1248(2)XVII-V-I-I-19-2000 Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 23 of 2000.     Samarth Group of Institutions, Belle (Pune), was established in 2010 to impart the quality education to the aspiring students.
