Role Mandate

The Director of Marketing – OTC & Community Investment leads the development of brand marketing strategies and oversees a team to execute marketing programs for Shoppers Drug Mart’s OTC categories and Community Investment programs (Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health). They are a key strategic partner to their Category counterparts, Shoppers Foundation’s charity leadership, and other counterparts across the Loblaw enterprise. They have primary accountability for attracting new customers, increasing brand health, expanding customer relationships, and driving sales for the brand / categories within their portfolio

Core Responsibilities

People Leadership: Leads a team to develop world-class marketing strategies and briefs; oversees team performance against marketing strategic objectives and KPIs, through mentorship and professional development


Brand Strategy: Owns and champions the long-term brand strategy, making portfolio-level decisions to drive the growth of the assigned division/category in-store and in digital

Brand Communication: Ensures effective communication and understanding of brand objectives, initiatives, and vision across the organization

Planning: Leads the development of full-year marketing plans/integrated marketing campaigns for moderately sized portfolios with significant revenue/budgets; accountable for ensuring marketing briefs align to strategic objectives and deliver on results

 

Partnership: Acts as a strategic partner and advisor to Divisional/Category counterparts; collaborates across the Marketing organization and with other key partners to drive best practices, shared learnings, and efficiencies

Shopper Marketing Programs: Establish and develop relationships with vendors to drive participation in shopper marketing programs and category marketing campaigns


Control Brand Programs: Oversees the portfolio-level execution of Control Brand programs within the guidelines set by the Control Brands marketing team
 

Enterprise Strategy Alignment: Supports the VP in driving the Marketing organization's strategic priorities within the Brand team. Works collaboratively with the other marketing teams, and LCL partners to bring enterprise best practices to the division, proactively seeking opportunities to find areas of convergence where it adds scale and value to the division

Innovation: Drives leading edge, innovative marketing strategies across paid, earned and owned channels to ensure relevant and best-in-class campaigns

Financial Management: Accountable for improving marketing ROI for respective portfolio through the identification of savings and growth opportunities and ensuring the marketing budget is managed in accordance with best practices

Charity Fundraising: Support Shoppers Foundation’s charity annual fundraising goal through customer-driven fundraising initiatives across paid and owned channels

10 years of experience, with expertise in brand marketing - OTC marketing experience is an asset
