Why this role is important?

In this role, you will have an essential role of the development and implementation of strategic programs and innovation as part of Canada’s largest drug retailer. In addition to supporting operations and performance management of 1750+ locations, the scope of this position includes ensuring Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw pharmacies are planned and staffed for efficiency, safety and excellent customer service. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the resource planning model to ensure accurate and consistent results are achieved. The ideal candidate is an industrial engineer with strong programming experience, interested in process optimization and resource planning through data analysis. We are looking for someone who is a strategic thinker, accountable, and eager to learn.

What You’ll Do:

  • Experience with process design and optimization in a fast-paced setting, scalable to large number of locations across the country.
  • Actively seeking continuous improvement opportunities to implement through leveraging Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement principles.
  • Strong analytical background, critical thinking with data-driven decision making to support business initiatives and creating decision support tools to optimize operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support deliverables and communication during annual planning process.
  • Strong sense of ownership towards developing and validating models to accurately reflect the resourcing requirements and workforce schedule for various workflows and systems.
  • Provide expertise in implementing automation or scripting when streamlining internal reporting  and planning process.
  • Troubleshoot within large set of information through conceptualization, Root Cause Analysis and Exploratory Data Analysis as needed.
  • Create efficient tools and models that are structured and designed for maximum ease of use and effectiveness for stakeholders.
  • Utilize data analysis and data mining to quantify trends and biases in the model to identify actionable improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure successful change management is in place when executing improvement opportunities after repeated testing in a controlled environment on the planning model while maintaining communication with the leadership.
  • Provide analytical support for different business initiatives and cross-functional projects through data mining and data analysis.
  • Travel across the country to firsthand experience different workflows in pharmacies and gather time study data to reflect daily operations on the planning model. Understand different types of measurement methodologies, metrics, and when to apply them.

Role Requirements

  • Post-Secondary degree preferably in Industrial Engineering, or in a Science or Engineering field
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Experience with data collection, data mining, data analytics and statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with Operations Research and simulation modelling
  • Strong programming experience in Python, C++, Java Script, R, SQL, VBA
  • Experience with Excel and other MS Office products
  • Ability to prioritize and independently execute assigned work
  • Attention to detail and personal accountability to ensure accuracy of produced results
  • Ability to successfully communicate convey technical problems verbally and written
  • Some travel might be required within Canada
