Netflix is looking for an experienced Live Service product leader to join Netflix Game Studios. This role is a part of our Central Live Service team and will be responsible for implementing the analytics approach used to provide both competitive and internal product analysis to leadership and game teams as well as to assist in optimization efforts of our Live Service games.

The ideal candidate will be highly effective at collaborating across teams and conveying our strategic priorities and business plans for Live Service games across Netflix. They will drive a deep understanding of the competitive market for high-engagement feature design across a wide variety of live service programs while developing and fine tuning unique metrics and frameworks to evaluate game and portfolio performance on a global subscription service. The role will collaborate with a group of analysts working cross-functionally with organizations across Netflix including: Internal Game Development teams, Game Studio Product Management, Games Strategy and Analysis, Data Science & Engineering, and Platform Product.

At our core, we are focused on how ongoing, recurring play, without the barrier of ads or in-app purchases ultimately affects both the performance of our individual games as well as Netflix subscriber satisfaction and retention.  We are in a unique position to learn, influence, and evolve based on how Netflix members choose to play games while helping inform our developers as they bring their games to life.

Responsibilities

  • Deeply understand the live service game category on various platforms, delivering insightful competitive analysis of game designs and live service programs that generate joy-filled, long term player engagement
  • Build a center of excellence around games as a service, laser-focused on optimizing in-game retention and driving higher engagement across a diverse set of players. Determine the research strategy to ensure product decisions are data-driven and meet player needs, including the ability to qualitatively and quantitatively teardown games on any platform
  • Work with a team of product managers and analysts to effectively support the organization in developing, integrating, and operating best-in-class live service games
  • Closely collaborate with internal studio product & creative partners to ensure internally developed games cater to players’ motivations while maximizing acquisition and engagement drivers, and manage key features that further optimize efforts towards live service best practices
  • Define key game portfolio KPIs to ensure business goals are realized and drive collaboration with data science and strategic advisory to assist in both top-down and bottom-up models that inform product roadmaps and mitigate risk
  • Partner with the Data Science & Engineering team to develop data analytics infrastructure for the ongoing management of games on the service

Requirements

  • Passion for gaming (eg - you’re excited by playing multiple games per week)
  • 7+ years of experience in product strategy or product management roles in gaming; specifically with Free-to-Play gaming industry (aka. Games-as-a-Service) on mobile and/or PC
  • Highly collaborative with thoughtful stakeholder management approach and the ability to deliver high impact through influence vs. control (e.g. requires high-EQ)
  • Experience with highly detailed, bottoms-up forecast modeling at the game level. A deep understanding of what drives gameplay, recognition of patterns, and the ability to translate those into custom forecast models of player and overall game performance as measured by engagement
  • Ability to make confident well-reasoned decisions with the flexibility to adjust quickly based on a combination of knowing the Live Service business in and out and your intuition
  • Experience doing deep-dive analysis of games, ideally mobile games, or similar digital consumer products (e.g. - subscriptions, streaming, etc.)

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working within a large consumer tech company with sophisticated cross-functional organization and culture
  • Adept or familiar with data science methods and statistical analysis
Location: 
USA - Remote, West Coast Preferred

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $600,000.
