Job Description

Amazon has spent years building one of the world’s most efficient and optimized supply chains. Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) builds on that foundation with a bulk storage and distribution service for FBA sellers and continues to innovate towards creating an integrated end-to-end supply chain offering.

This position will work closely with various stakeholders including Accounting, Finance, and Financial system teams to solve complex problems that directly impact Amazon’s financial reporting. The successful candidate will lead finance transformation projects that change how Amazon consumes, stores, and analyzes financial data. This is an opportunity to work in a startup like environment within Amazon and we seek an individual who is motivated by a fast-paced and highly entrepreneurial environment.

As the Finance Manager, you will partner with business leadership, and will provide strategic decision support and financial controllership necessary to drive profitable growth and explore new businesses. You will play a central role in guiding the business on the financial implications of its growth and investment plans, while keeping executive leadership informed of the business’ performance.
Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats, and work in a highly collaborative environment that’s more start-up than big company. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical in this role. Key job responsibilities:
- Oversee financial reporting for your business area. Understand input drivers and validate integrity of the reporting to influence strategic decision-making and planning. Use data to identify disruptive ideas and provide advice to business leaders across the globe
- Develop and implement forecast processes and best practices that improve accuracy and quickly identify risks and opportunities to topline performance
- With Controllership as the top priority, you identify, resolve, or provide guidance to resolve complex data integrity issues. You improve controls to address financial risk and support frugality
- Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs. You make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure
- Use active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjust style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly. Your communications drive critical business decisions
- Collects and analyzes quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions
- Have backbone, disagree and commit to foster constructive dialogues, harmonize conflicting views, resolve issues, and drive decisions
- You exhibit social responsibility. Actively recruit bar-raising talent, continuously develop your team, and constructively mentor the Finance community
- Identify and sponsor Finance-wide professional development and engagement initiatives that plan for the future and strengthen the global Finance community, such as inclusion and diversity initiatives
- Become an expert in your lane to contribute to work-life harmony. You are a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members and model operations excellence and efficiency

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Bellevue, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications:

- BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)
- 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
- 6+ years of the following experience:
- Applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience.
- Building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience.
- Creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience.
- Participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience.
- Solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience.
- Identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience.
- Building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving.
- Performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel.
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
