Amazon is seeking an International Tax Planning Manager for Amazon's Tax Financial Services Group! The manager will work with other international tax team members and business partners to assist with a variety of Amazon Treasury, currency, liquidity, and broader initiatives. This role will operate with some level of independence and the applicant will be expected to demonstrate a high level of initiative and collegiality, as well as an exceptional bias for action and ability to drive projects forward despite ambiguity.

The candidate will often be required to dive deep to remove roadblocks and carefully manage scope to deliver results on large scale and complex projects while still earning trust across many functions and stakeholders with executive level visibility and sponsorship.

Key job responsibilities
Primary duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Drive, provide technical input, and manage a number of discrete projects from a US international tax planning perspective pertaining to liquidity and currency management.
- Drive and provide technical input for Treasury initiatives and related inquiries pertaining to but not limited to cash pools, equity and debt funding, intercompany settlements, and so forth.
- Drive the identification and execution of funding strategies with cross functional teams.
- Provide technical support to other Tax teams for liquidity and currency management considerations and drive execution of plans with cross functional teams, as needed.
- Drive meetings with leadership pertaining to the above.
- Research tax issues and prepare comprehensive technical documentation/memos that contain well-reasoned, supported, and clear conclusions.
- Follow and interpret legislative guidance and changes relevant to the team's area of expertise (e.g. sections 985-989, 1092, 1221, 1256, 163(j), 385, 108, 959, etc.).
- Stay current on broader international tax considerations to determine implications from liquidity and currency management projects (e.g. implications on FTC, BEAT, etc.)
- Communicate tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals.
- Work closely with other members of the global tax department (e.g. non-US tax, transfer pricing, reporting and compliance), coordinate, and review cross functional tax input.
- Work with US and non-US external tax advisors.

This is a 100% planning role and is not directly involved in compliance.

Basic Qualifications:

- 6+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department

Preferred Qualifications:

- 3+ years of maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation software (e.g. Vertex) experience
- Experience with VBA, Python, SQL, or other database language

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $76,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $172,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
