The opportunity

EY’s Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice provides risk management support to banks, insurers, and asset managers. Our team includes individuals who have industry, client, and product knowledge as well as quantitative, regulatory, project management and technology professionals. We are seeking agile individuals to join our team. Along with our team, you'll work together to coordinate the delivery of risk management, regulatory and business performance services to a variety of clients, including commercial banks, investment banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, insurance and energy trading companies, and other organizations.

 

EY Rapid Innovation

 

As a Multinational Member Firm in the EY network, Rapid Innovation, based in Pakistan, exclusively provides its services to MENA based EY Member Firms across the MENA region, excluding Pakistan.  The work is executed remotely by working virtually with our MENA onshore teams and sometime may require travel to MENA EY offices.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

As part of the FSRM team, your primary responsibilities, among other things, will include delivering services in wholesale and retail credit risk, risk management and governance, model development and implementation, model/system documentation, and model benchmarking while establishing relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels. You will be applying quantitative techniques to help institutions develop and validate credit risk modelling methodologies and performing the practical application of advanced analytics techniques to help clients solve business problems and complex issues in the financial services industry.  You’ll need to consistently deliver quality client services by leading teams, monitoring progress, managing risks, and ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. 

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • Perform in-depth technical analytics, for example in the space of regression analysis or machine learning, to help solve our client’s complex business issues
  • Communicate and interpret deep technical concepts to both technical and non-technical client stakeholders
  • Maintain an ambitious attitude towards finding innovative solutions to challenging problems
  • Have functional knowledge related to some of the following: broad credit risk modelling, modelling knowledge of wholesale (e.g., CRE and C&I), retail, expected credit loss modelling, applicability of models in the context of CECL/IFRS 9, risk management, model development, model validation, financial analytics, advanced analytics (e.g., machine learning techniques)
  • Bring functional experience in credit risk modelling and associated methodologies and their role in the overall risk management framework. Demonstrate knowledge of the risk management function and the model lifecycle.
  • Assimilate new knowledge and stay abreast of new developments in advisory services capabilities, reserving and allowance, advanced analytics, regulatory expectations, and current business and industry trends relevant to our clients
  • Understand our clients’ needs and consistently deliver quality client services focusing on more complex, judgmental, and/or specialized issues
  • Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment
  • Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget
  • Lead and manage a team in a dynamic environment. Focuses on the importance of coaching and developing teams.
  • Understand EY and its service lines and actively assess what the firm can deliver to serve clients

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Excellent academic background, including a Bachelor and a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Engineering, Operational Research, or other related field. Ph.D. and professional qualifications (e.g., PRM, CFA etc.) will be considered an asset
  • Skills in quantitative methods of finance, econometrics and/or statistics.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact with teams at all hierarchical levels and work under tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail with a logical and methodical approach
  • Excellent business acumen
  • Willingness to learn and continuously expand technical and business skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills in English for both technical and business audiences
  • Knowledge and/or keen interest in topics such as:
  • Banking products and services and/or investment products and the key risks associated with these
  • Risk management practices across major risk types such as Credit Risk, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Interest Rate Risk and Liquidity Risk
  • Risk-based business planning and performance measurement
  • Risk quantification methods for market risk (e.g., Value-at-Risk, Expected Shortfall) credit risk (e.g., PD, LGD and EAD)
  • Financial analysis, key performance indicators, and financial accounting.
  • Regulatory requirements in the banking industry
  • Quantitative & other programming, (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SPSS, SQL) and valuation platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, Fin CAD or Super Derivatives)

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Possess a self-starting attitude, an ability to think outside the box and thrive on new challenges
