The VCA Medical Operations Technician and Assistant Educational Programs Manager ensures that all education programs support the long-term goals of the Organization. This position performs professional work of considerable difficulty overseeing a range of administrative functions related to medical operations management, Associate education opportunities, mentorship, strategic relationships and reporting metrics.


  • Manages, strategizes and administers various medical operations education programs and relationships.
  • Researches, analyzes data, and prepares quarterly reports on trends, development progression, new resource suggestions and current program goals and progress to stakeholders including KPIs and ROI on dollars spent vs. benefit to Associates and business objectives.
  • Oversee student experience programs in hospitals for future and current Associates to enhance mentorship and support. Develops, reviews and revises program policies and procedures.
  • Oversee Associate support and sponsorship for education in collaboration with internal and external partners. Work in conjunction with P&O, Total Rewards, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Med Ops and Operations to determine strategies for improved relationships.
  • Maintain strong collegial relationships with Veterinary Technician Education programs in the United States and coordinate student experience with Regional Technician Directors and Talent Acquisition Department.
  • Supports other veterinary assistant and veterinary technician education programs as needed, including identification and assessment of other technician educational models to support VCA, VTS readiness, VTNE review and internal continuing education offerings.
  • Liaison with Talent Acquisitions Department to ensure support of new graduates.
  • Researches, analyzes data, and prepares quarterly reports on trends, development progression, new resource suggestions and current program goals and progress to stakeholders including KPIs and ROI on dollars spent vs. benefit to Associates and business objectives.

  • Bachelor's degree or Applicable Experience
  • 3-4 years experience
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician
  • Veterinary Technician Specialist

*All degrees will be deemed “or equivalent combination of education and experience” unless absolutely required to do the job (i.e., DVM degree for Veterinarian, Law degree for Attorney, etc.).


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage relationships and create strategic plans with KPIs and ROI for dollars spent.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of technician and assistant development and professional growth, industry awareness, and training program design and presentation.
  • Working knowledge of state practice acts and regulations as they apply to technicians and assistants.
  • Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to plan, organize and present training activities to diverse groups.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Strong clinical knowledge to aid in the development and maintenance of the program while keeping it relevant, achievable and scalable for hospital teams. Knowledge of emergency and specialty practice medicine and environment preferred.
