About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for passionate, caring and qualified Health Assistants (Nursing) to join our dynamic team at St Vincent’s Hospital. You will work as part of a wider ward team, under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) or equivalent, and will make a positive contribution to patient care through assistance and support to our Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses.

You will also:

  • Work within the role and parameters determined within the position description and the specific unit duty list

  • Contribute to positive patient outcomes by ensuring all elements of delegated work is completed accurately and in accordance with St Vincent's policies and procedures

  • Participate in delegated aspects of patient care

  • Ensure patient privacy and dignity is maintained at all times

Classifications for these roles will be IN38 - IN39 ($57,038.80 - $59,670.00)

Your Contribution

As a qualified Health Assistant (Nursing), you will bring strong interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with staff, patients and families to the role. You will be a reliable team player, who enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team.

You will also have:

  • Certificate III Health Assistant (Nursing) or have completed first year of Bachelor of Nursing

  • Previous experience as a Health Assistant is desirable

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a wider team

  • Great interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Reliability in relation to attendance and completion of assigned tasks

  • Commitment to a professional work ethic and ongoing professional development

  • Experience in a healthcare setting, a customer service setting or similar

  • Ability to work a rotating roster, including night duty

About 8 East
8 East is a 24 bed General Medical unit which provides rapid multidisciplinary assessment of General Medical patients admitted via the Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit. 8 East compromises of 20 acute beds, 4 ACE beds and houses in the Increased Observation Room, a 4 bed room that gives specialised care to patients with delirium and dementia.
