Job Description Summary:

In working with the Senior Vice President & Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and the Senior Compliance Director and Chief Privacy Officer and the System Director, Ethics and Compliance, the Senior Advisor will serve as corporate compliance oversight for certain other OhioHealth Business Lines, including OhioHealthy Medical Plan, inc. (OHMPI), OhioHealth’s Joint Ventures, OhioHealth’s Accountable Care Organization (ACO), OhioHealth Group (OHG), OhioHealth’s Clinically Integrate Network (CIN), and OhioHealth’s Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Initiative (BPCI).  To that end, serving in the corporate compliance oversight capacity for certain other business lines, the Senior Advisor also will manage the compliance audits/reviews to prospectively test compliance with established laws, regulation, company policies, and managerial guidelines.  The Senior Advisor will monitor the effectiveness of compliance programming, as well as perform sensitive and complex investigations with the Office of the General Counsel, as appropriate. This position requires strategic thought leadership to communicate and consult on general compliance requirements and federal/state privacy regulations/requirements across the system. This role also requires the ability to proactively prevent compliance issues for OhioHealth’s Joint Ventures as well as certain other OhioHealth business lines, to include ACO, OHMPI, OHG, CIN and BPCI.

This position reports to the Sr. Vice President and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer. 

This position is responsible for developing and implementing, as appropriate, proactive compliance programs throughout OhioHealth’s Joint Ventures, as well as certain other OhioHealth business lines to include: OHG, OHMPI, ACO, BPCI and CIN in order to advance compliance with federal/state privacy law and regulation, general compliance, as well as billing and reimbursement compliance with applicable regulations and laws.

As the Corporate Compliance Oversight Senior Advisor this position leads the day-to-day management, planning and execution of the Ethics and Compliance program efforts for OhioHealth’s Accountable Care Organization, as well as its Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Initiative (and similar initiatives), with the current compliance official for such business lines.  Responsibilities include fostering open lines of communication across operational and functional areas. 

In addition to the above duties, the Senior Advisor will serve as the OhioHealth Ethics and Compliance Office’s primary compliance lead for OHMPI, partnering with the OHMPI compliance resource(s) to advance health plan compliance and promote an ethical culture.   

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree: Accounting, Bachelor's Degree: Health Administration

Requires a BA/BS with preference for studies in Political Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent related experience. 

Kind and Length of Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in relevant fields such as Compliance, Legal, Human Resources, Training and Education, Communications, Internal Audit, Joint Commission, Clinical Quality and Patient Safety, and/or Health Information Management.  Note: Education equivalency substitutions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

One or more of the following:

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) by the Health Care Compliance Association or Compliance Certification Board
  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy (CHC) by the Health Care Compliance Association or Compliance Certification Board
  • Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) by the Health Care Compliance Association or Compliance Certification Board
  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance-Fellow (CHC-F) by the Health Care Compliance Association or Compliance Certification Board
  • Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) by the American Academy of Professional Coders
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders
  • Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P) by the American Health Information Management Association
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from the American Health Information Management Association
  • Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC),Certified Documentation Expert – Inpatient (CDEI) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
  • If the candidate does not have the CHC credential, must be willing to learn and earn the credential within twelve months from date of hire. 


Managed care, insurance, or health plan experience

  • Solid supervisory, leadership, client service and project management experience.
  • Ability to develop and motivate a team or workgroup in a collaborative environment. 
  • Excellent analytical, presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.  Proficiency with Microsoft Team and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at the same time.
