Job Description:

  • Can take highly complex technical concepts and translate them to non-technical audiences, such as in verbal presentations with clients and in written format as part of proposals.
  • Know the value of data and the role data plays in driven systems/software engineering.
  • Are a driven self-starter and will enjoy diving into the latest technologies to modernize our product?
  • Enjoy coming into established projects to offer subject matter expertise to help advance the effort.
  • Have experience with requirements gathering and technical design documentation.
  • Can manage multiple projects & technical resources.

Parsons values entrepreneurial, innovative & and out-of-the-box thinking.  Our Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) / Smart Mobility group is comprised of passionate leaders, technologists, and transportation engineers working on projects across the US.   

POSITION OVERVIEW:

On this team, you will function as a senior ITS technical leader, designing and deploying state-of-the-art software solutions centered around our core iNET Product (https://www.parsons.com/products/inet/) that integrate and utilize ITS assets such as:  Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), traffic signals, communications systems, Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), Integrated Corridor Management Systems (ICMS), Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV), data hubs, and other advanced transportation technologies.  The successful candidate will independently develop and/or supervise the development of advanced ITS designs, Special Provisions or technical procedures. This position requires New Jersey PE license and occasional travel to New Jersey and New York client locations and field locations
 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a senior technical leader within the ITS/Smart Mobility Group.  Creates enhanced technical solutions to meet client and/or regulatory requirements and actively seeks improvements to work processes.
  • Researches, analyzes, and organizes statistics or other technical materials for specific applications.
  • Independently work on ITS designs and specifications submittal and collaborate with other ITS design team members
  • Participates in business development activities, supporting the technical aspects of the opportunity, including proposal preparation and formal client presentations
  • Keeps abreast of technological developments related to area of expertise.
  • Participates in one or more professional organizations.
  • May write and/or review articles written by others for publication in professional journals.
  • May perform in a technical leadership role, providing technical direction to others in the production of products or services to ensure that meet established project requirements.
  • May supervise or mentor one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance. 
  • Overseeing the development of a project and coordinating teams of developers to meet design standards requires significant leadership. Software architects must be able to juggle the needs and demands of projects and teams.
  • Planning, tracking and scheduling deliverables often using agile process (i.e. sprint planning)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Engineering Degree is required.
  • 4+ years of ITS Design experience is required
  • Familiarity with JFK Airport Port Authority design guidelines are preferred
  • PE is required
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is preferred

Salary Range: 

$92,200.00 - $161,400.00
