About the Role & Team

Want to help enhance the employee experience at The Walt Disney Company? The People Development team drives the comprehensive employee development strategy across Disney Entertainment Television (DET). This team orchestrates the career and professional development, leadership development, talent & succession planning, executive coaching, and team effectiveness. The team balances driving consistent strategies across the broad organization with tailoring it to meet the unique and local needs of businesses within DET.

This position is located in Burbank, CA and is part of a greater L&D team with staff located in New York and Burbank. The Learning & Career Development Coordinator has a dual reporting relationship, reporting directly to the Manager of Learning, and dotted line to the Director of Career Development. The Learning and Career Coordinator role is a dynamic position and the work is a blend of approximately 50% learning coordination, 25% support of career development and 25% performance management, which will fluctuate seasonally.

What You Will Do

As a Learning & Career Development Coordinator, you will support the Learning & Development and Career Development departments for DET’s population by providing (and providing support for) learning opportunities, services and programs in order to build employee capabilities, develop future leaders and retain key talent to drive business objectives. Your day to day will include segment-wide program coordination, platform/ technology support, logistics, employee communication, course content production and curation, vendor communication, metrics calculations, occasional workshop facilitation and general office administrative tasks.

Program Support & Logistics

  • You will own scheduling, logistics, and producing responsibilities for all learning and career events (virtual and in-person). Includes confirming schedule, room booking/setup/equipment, Zoom setup/ producing/ troubleshooting, catering requests, vendor requests, and general support to facilitator.

  • You will design, distribute and supervise communication for segment-wide courses, cyclical programs, and events, including: invitations, reminders, materials, surveys/evaluations, learner inquiries, vendor instructions, etc.

  • You will update and maintain materials supporting learning and career, including presentation decks, job aids, participant guides, handouts, reports, forms.

  • Represent the team as a regular, reliable in-office presence for onsite learning or career related needs/events

  • Collaborate and partner with senior learning rep on learning management system and reporting dashboard, including: create forms, pull data, and prepare summary on evaluations, surveys, attendance reports, etc.

  • Partner with the relevant collaborators for the purchase and distribution of assessment licenses, and pull assessment reports for facilitators

  • Work with cross-functional segment partners to create and maintain career workflows for coaching client talent handoff

Technology Support

  • Learning Management System (D Learn): Create and schedule courses, prepare class rosters, give credit for attendance, track enrollment/no show/cancellation and report charge backs, research historical data and run reports as needed, upload relevant content

  • Performance Management System (Workday): Run status reports, pull historical information/data, coordinate with key partners to resolve issues, serve as primary administrative point-of-contact on Workday-related work or requests (e.g. Talent/ Succession planning, Employee/ Manager correspondence, Career Profile creation and maintenance, etc.)

  • People Development & Career Websites (SharePoint): Perform site modifications/maintenance, ensures site information is up-to-date, provide analytic insight, conduct dynamic content hosting/ cycling, apply standard processes to ensure site feels modern and relevant

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Build, distribute and report metrics of monthly DET People Development newsletter

  • Prepare and distribute program-specific marketing emails, Slack posts, articles (in coordination with internal Comms team), online newsletters, and create audience-specific distribution lists


  • Facilitate segment-wide in-person and virtual workshop offerings on a variety of topics, as needed (including, but not limited to, orientation and professional-level skill-building)

Administrative Support

  • Own department inbox, serving as first point-of contact responding and following up with inquiries for learning and career development. Maintain Outlook record inventory management.

  • Coordinate and maintain the DET Learning calendar, including room reservations, training schedule, etc.

  • Serve as main department contact for ordering office supplies and equipment, distribute mail, shipping materials, etc.

  • Organize and maintain in-office supplies and virtual team library, including SharePoint documents Microsoft Teams, supply cabinets, workshop supplies, etc.

  • Provide financial support for purchase orders, invoices, A/P uploads, charge backs

  • Other administrative duties as assigned, which may include travel coordination for facilitators or vendors

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • At least 1 year prior work experience in a constantly evolving corporate environment

  • Advanced skills in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Bookings, Forms)

  • Able to lift 30 pounds 3-4 feet and rearrange tables/chairs in a classroom

  • Available to support onsite learning & career events in the Los Angeles area, as needed

  • Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Has exemplary customer service skills. Ability to optimally and expertly work with high-level executives, clients, business associates, and employees

  • Gets Results: Shows excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and follow-through skills. Exhibits a high sense of curiosity that drives independent and creative fact finding and problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General HR knowledge/experience and Learning & Development experience

  • Experience producing virtual meetings (e.g. Zoom)

  • Experience with SAP, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Slack

  • Experience with Keynote, Canva, Visio and Smartsheet

  • Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Workday

  • Analytical skills

  • Event planning, project management, and/or logistics experience

  • Keen eye for design and creative mentality

  • General understanding of HR / learning and development processes, programs, and policies.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $47,900.00 to $64,100.00 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
