Job Description

The Sponsored Ads team is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst supporting the high-growth, cost-per-click Sponsored Advertising business. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support product and country level reporting and analysis for the Sponsored Advertising business.

You will be responsible for partnering with product teams to deep-dive and analyze period-over-period Sponsored Product revenue performance at a granular level. This includes isolating variance analysis into volume, mix and rate components, along with cross-country revenue and metrics reporting. You will focus your efforts on expanding and scaling this type of analysis across the Sponsored Advertising business, including Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, and future potential product roll-outs. The role will also work extensively with the rest of the Sponsored Ads team to identify areas for FP&A process improvement, will assist with implementing new analysis capability, and will actively seek out impactful business “blind-spots” and work to create reporting around these KPI’s.
This role requires an individual with excellent communication skills enabling engaged collaboration with various functions, including economists, finance leaders, product managers, data scientists as well as senior leadership. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, and an ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy and ever-changing environment.

o Invent & Simplify – Role will be heavily focused on scaling existing practices and implementing improved processes
o Learn & Be Curious – Ads is a growing business so new products will be introduced which will require an understanding of to report on effectively
o Bias for Action – Will be assisting other team-members frequently and will need to be able to execute on suggestions without full oversight from stakeholders
o Dive Deep – Will need to be able to digest diverse data and prioritize which insights are important for analysis
o Earn Trust – Will be working with a large group of stakeholders who will rely on their deliverables for direct submission/presentation to management
o Deliver Results – Must be results oriented and must be able to prioritize when to build out a scalable process and when to simply deliver a result

New York, NY, USA | Seattle, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications:

- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, information systems, finance, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $56,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
