Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.

AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support.  Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.

AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying School (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

Description/Overall purpose of the Job

Please note this post is offered as a fixed-term contract/internal secondment opportunity to cover Maternity leave for 12 - 15 months. Interviews to be held w/c 8th January 2024.

The Talent Acquisition Lead plays a key part in maintaining the successful delivery of the strategic talent acquisition programme for Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd. You will work closely with line managers to integrate within AHUK the Airbus value of  “We are one”.  

You will manage our full-cycle recruiting processes including identifying current and future hiring needs, advertising job openings online, sourcing and screening applicants, conducting interviews where required, making offers of employment and welcoming and inducting the newcomer on their first day - all whilst supporting the hiring-managers and candidates throughout. Ultimately, you will help AHUK build a strong employer brand and ensure a positive candidate experience is provided.

Main Responsibilities – 

Pre-Selection

  • Responsible for end to end recruitment support for hiring managers across all departments - starting with a recruitment brief meeting to first identify the recruitment needs.

  • Ensure that the AHUK recruitment process is followed, that all company documentation and requisitions are completed for audit purposes.

  • Write creative and engaging content for job adverts and attraction channels – Maintaining the Airbus brand whilst keeping it fresh and relevant

  • Update job descriptions as required (e.g. add tasks or modify requirements) and build and maintain a bank of all job descriptions throughout the company.

Selection

  • Sourcing candidates for existing vacancies and creating talent pipelines for future requirements against workforce plans through a combination of networking, research and sourcing on various candidate attraction tools and job boards. 

  • Creation of all contractual documents for the successful candidate including their Offer Letter and Terms and conditions.

  • Consider appropriate resourcing methods, placing internal and external adverts as required on various channels including appropriate online platforms such as Linkedin, Indeed and other appropriate networks and job boards.

  • Conduct interviews as and when required by hiring managers during various hiring stages including phone, video and in person interviews.

  • Make the initial job offer to the candidate, verbally where possible.

  • Seek permission from candidates to obtain employment references and email the referees to request the references.

  • Work with LinkedIn and any other attraction channels to ensure we are getting maximum value and impact from these tools.

  • Headhunt and source candidates through online channels (e.g. professional networks and portfolio sites) when required and appropriate

  • Answer candidates’ queries regarding the application process

  • Provide interview feedback, when necessary and appropriate

On-Boarding

  • Preparation of induction packs, welcome gift bags and performing the HR Induction.

  • Work in collaboration with the other members of the business to ensure the new employees are ‘day one ready’ in terms of IT, Access, HRIS systems etc.

  • Prepare for a new starter by organising their Disclosure Barring Service check, General Security Awareness Training and Pre-employment occupational health..

General

  • You will be responsible for the Talent Acquisition activity to a successful conclusion by developing excellent relationships across AHUK, keeping stakeholders informed throughout the recruitment process.

  • Strive to continuously improve the recruitment process, hiring efficiencies, onboarding and candidate/hiring manager experience.

  • Attend Recruitment events throughout the UK as well as School and College events in the local area to engage with the community and raise Airbus Helicopter’s profile within Oxfordshire and beyond. These activities are not only a good way to attract talent and fill vacancies, but also crucial for future proofing our company by encouraging and inspiring the younger generations to pursue a career in aviation/engineering.

  • Provide great customer, candidate and stakeholder satisfaction maintaining a high standard of professionalism and friendliness throughout all interactions.

  • Keep Hiring manager and HRBP’s informed at all stages of the recruitment and hiring process.

  • Ensure corporate and legal requirements are met during the recruitment process, Liaising with the Export compliance officer, staff immigration and other relevant parties.

  • Maintain data relating to recruitment activity to share with the Head of HR to communicate at the HOD/SMM meetings to update on KPI’s.

  • Engage with, build and maintain good working relationships with Recruitment agencies. Be their first point of contact for recruitment queries. Ensure they follow the process AHUK sets for them and check invoices received for placement fees etc. Hold them accountable if they aren’t fulfilling our requirements.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Extensive proven In-house recruitment experience from a fast-paced, high performing organisation with a Solid understanding of 360 recruitment, Including experience in candidate screening and interviewing.

  • Previous exposure and knowledge of digital candidate sourcing platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed.

  • A creative and dynamic recruiter who is happy to apply themselves to operational recruitment as well as being able to think ‘bigger picture’ on improving processes and methods of attraction and attrition

  • Organised and capable for recruiting for high volume and for niche roles for all business areas

  • Must have the confidence to challenge and influence key business decision-makers

  • Proven background in using various candidate attraction channels (advertising, database searches, networking sites, headhunting)

  • High levels of attention to detail and discretion, in consideration of the contractual and confidential nature of the work.

  • Good oral and written communication skills, preferably with experience of communicating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders with diverse professional and academic backgrounds. 

  • A curiosity for all things Talent Acquisition based including but not limited to Employer branding, interview techniques/best practice, Inclusion and Diversity and unconscious bias.

Desirable

  • Willingness to commit to continuous professional development. 

  • Knowledge of the UK apprenticeship system is advantageous.

Education, Qualifications or Training

Essential 

  • At least 5 years experience within HR and or Recruitment

  • Strong IT skills and ideally proficient in use of ‘Google suite’ (Google Mail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google forms, Google sites etc.)

  • Strong working knowledge and experience of maintaining HR Information systems.

  • Previously received formal Interview training

  • Inclusion and Diversity and unconscious bias training & GDPR Training

Desirable

  •  CIPD Qualified Level 3 or above (or equivalent experience)

Additional requirements 

  • Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS check 

  • Applicants must meet any/all requirements of Export Compliance Regulations.

  • Ability to travel and stay away overnight occasionally required for recruitment and team events (Some team members are based at RAF Shawbury so may need to visit once in a while)
