Description

The Health Equity Director is responsible for setting direction and establishing strategy to address health inequities and improve the health, wellbeing of our enrollees in Oklahoma by developing and integrating data-informed and equitable solutions that address their physical, mental and social needs. The Health Equity Director will work with providers, health systems, internal leaders, community-based organizations, the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA), Oklahoma’s managed care organizations (MCOs), and others to improve community and individual drivers of health and health outcomes for our membership. The Health Equity Director will work directly with the market leadership team, and liaise with Humana’s Chief Health Equity Officer, Oklahoma Bold Goal and State-based health equity leaders to ensure alignment across the market.

Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads in applying health equity principles to internal health plan operations, administrative and clinical, to assure policies and procedures are aligned with improving health outcomes and reducing health disparities for all enrollees.
  • Develops, in conjunction with the central Equitable Population Health Management (EPHM) team, clinical business intelligence, and population health insights. Deploys market strategies and innovative solutions in collaboration with central EPHM and Oklahoma market team.
  • Collaborates with Humana leaders in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to support an organizational workforce and culture that is inclusive and respectful of the various backgrounds reflected in our Enrollees and their communities.
  • Helps assure the plan addresses healthcare disparities and ensures equitable access to and the delivery of services to all Enrollees, including those with limited English proficiency, diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, or disabilities, and regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity
  • Helps assure the plan, its subcontractors, and network Providers provide physical access, reasonable accommodations, and accessible equipment for Enrollees who experience disabilities
  • Represent the plan through participation in (OHCA) health equity initiatives as requested by OHCA.
  • Identifies racial, linguistic, gender, and geographic health disparities, and works with our communities, partners, and providers to improve health equity and have a collective impact for the population
  • Listens, and gives voice to, emergent issues creating barriers to health equity, healthcare disparities within the local healthcare community, their impacts on healthcare quality, outcomes, healthcare costs and access to care for underserved and marginalized communities
  • Collaborate with the plan CIO, to leverage all available data to provide meaningful reporting to internal and external committees on health equity metrics across the plan, network and service delivery areas
  • Ensures that efforts addressed at improving health equity, reducing disparities, and improving cultural competence are designed collaboratively with other OHCA-contracted managed care organizations to have a collective impact for the population and that lessons learned are incorporated into future decision-making

               

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of five years’ professional work experience, preferably in public health, social/human services, social work, public policy, healthcare, education, community development, or justice
  • Experience working directly in communities and understanding health disparities and barriers to health equity
  • Experience as a leader who clearly communicates and builds relationships with a variety of stakeholders, , including the clinical community, to build trust, enhance the connection to a company, and/or engage in partnerships or initiatives to improve health
  • Demonstrated ability to operationalize a vision, through planning, implementation and evaluation that integrate priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of an organization
  • Experience in actively applying or overseeing the application of science-based quality improvement methods to reduce health disparities
  • Must reside in Oklahoma, preferably Oklahoma City

  • Demonstrated experience leading equity efforts in a complex organization and industry resulting in measurable outcomes
  • Advanced degree (Masters level or above)

Workstyle: Hybrid; A combination of remote and Humana's Oklahoma City location.

Work at Home Criteria

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
  • Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
