Distribution Supervisor

Location: Martinsville, VA

Shift: 2nd Shift (5:00 p.m. - 3:30 a.m.) 10 hour shifts

Days: Monday - Thursday

What You Will Do as a Distribution Supervisor:

  • The Distribution Center Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of Distribution activities related to controlling, scheduling, and managing the flow of production from acquisition of raw materials to distribution of finished product; areas include purchasing of materials, distribution, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation. This position will supervise and assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, resolve problems, ensure direct reports work efficiently and effectively.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Coordinates on a daily basis with the Department Manager, the requirements for their respective departments -- receiving, residual, stocking, picking, packing, shipping, VAS, trouble, induction
  • Implements work methods and procedures to increase the productivity and improved quality of service within each department
  • Communicates and enforces all policies/procedures to hourly associates to include safety, attendance, quality, and performance
  • Works with Management/HR/Training to ensure staffing levels are appropriate for each department to meet the daily production needs
  • Works with Training Coordinator to communicate any training needs for new associates as well as re-training or cross training for current associates
  • Ensure work areas are clean and safe for all associates - reports any unsafe issues immediately
  • Performs all duties listed above as well as any other job related duties as assigned

Skills for Success:

  • 5+ years of job-related experience, preferably in a distribution environment. Related educational experience may be considered in lieu of work experience
  • Previous Leadership experience required
  • Associate's degree; Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent years of related experience
  • Overall fluency in the English language both written and spoken
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, specifically Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • High level of interpersonal skills and confidentiality to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Typical Working Conditions:

Supervisor will work around equipment, such as robots, conveyors and rolling stock, which could contain hazards.  Other exposures found in a distribution center such as high level of noise and dust may exist for this position.

Hiring Range:

$58,144.00 USD - $72,680.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
