Leidos is currently seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. With environmental projects across the U.S. you will have the opportunity to make a difference in various communities.

Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time; travel may occur in back-to-back weeks. Must be able to pass background checks to obtain access to, and conduct work on, U.S. Government installations. Due to contract requirements, must be a U.S. Citizen.

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will work both individually, and as part of a team, to conduct multimedia environmental compliance assessments.  The candidate must be able to identify, analyze, and document environmental compliance deficiencies as a result of applying knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations. These locations may include all 50 states and territories.

Primary Objectives:

• Address technical questions regarding development, implementation of environmental health & safety (EHS) programs such as, but not limited to: Permitting, EPCRA-TRI reporting, Air Emission Inventories (AEI), SPCC/SWPP and Emergency Action Plans; Powered industrial trucks (forklifts); Personal protective equipment; Machine guarding; Hazardous material communications; Lock-out/tag-out; Confined spaces.
• Provide technical guidance to clients as it relates to EHS programs, including recommend equipment, devices, and programs designed to reduce or eliminate employee and environmental hazards
• Monitor and audit all domestic facilities for program implementation, training, and record keeping relating to safety and environmental compliance
• Coordinate the collection of data and prepare reports required at Federal, State, and local levels. Examples include EPCRA, RCRA, CAA, TSCA, OSHA, and Department of Homeland Security and maintain working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations pertaining to environmental, safety, and health issues.
• Provide assistance to ensure compliance with EHS requirements. 
• Perform Site inspections and corrective action(s):
  • Collect data to prepare reports and/or evaluate EHS programs.
  • Train and direct management to inspect facilities, work sites and equipment for violations and hazards.
  • Provide direction to management on correcting identified problems in a timely manner.
  • Follow up to make sure all corrective actions were taken and completed.

• Responsible for updating, maintaining and auditing location EHS standards and procedures on a quarterly basis.
• Develop effective EHS training programs for managers/employees that will efficiently cover all needed/required materials and reduce travel.
• Training for staff and provide ongoing training of all employees.
• Review and update SPCC/SWPP and RCRA contingency plans as needed.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the EHS programs using established goals and make recommendations and implement corrective action(s) based on industry standards and best practices.

What Sets You Apart:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, geology, or relevant field and at least 4 years’ experience in the field conducting multimedia environmental compliance audits.  A combination of auditing and conducting compliance-related work, such as writing SPCC Plans, SWPPPs, environmental permits, etc. will be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience preparing environmental reports (e.g., EPCRA-TRI, AEI, Waste Reporting, SPCC/SWPP plans)
• Have good communication skills, and ability to exercise independent judgment
• Computer literate, with strong Excel skills

Pay Range:

Pay Range $66,300.00 - $119,850.00
