At Leidos' Defense Group, we are thrilled to announce an opening for the position of Training Specialist on the UNICORN program at our Newport News, VA office. This presents a unique opportunity to utilize your expertise in support of the UNICORN mission and its valued customers. Within this role, you will be responsible for instructing both internal and external customers on various services, procedures, processes, techniques, tactics, products, and skill development. While participating in course definition and development is a part of your role, your primary focus will be delivering these courses. To ensure you remain at the forefront of training and development, we encourage you to stay updated on research, learning theory, motivation theory, and new training methods and techniques.

There is a potential for telework of 25% while in the office the rest of the workweek.

Primary Responsibilities

As a UNICORN Training Specialist, your daily duties and job responsibilities will include:

  • Developing comprehensive instructional materials, including training presentations, to support customer engagement and facilitate their development in familiarization and immersion.

  • Conducting training presentations and providing one-on-one training sessions for the UNICORN program.

  • Offering demonstrations of system capabilities to various segments and levels within the intelligence community.

  • Creating and maintaining operator checklists and position-specific quick reference cards.

  • Assisting with any additional assets required to ensure successful operations utilizing UNICORN for mission accomplishment.

  • Collaborating with government leadership to address software features and gather necessary requirements.

Basic Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of relevant prior experience, or a Master's degree with less than 1 year of prior relevant experience. Experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance (US citizenship required in order to obtain the clearance).

  • Practical knowledge of the professional discipline, often obtained through advanced education combined with relevant experience.

  • General understanding of industry practices and standards.

  • The ability to align training with business goals, comprehending business operations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with staff, trainees, subject matter experts, and organizational leaders. Much of your work will be accomplished through teamwork.

  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to clearly convey information to diverse audiences, including public speaking engagements with various customer audiences and leadership levels.

  • Critical-thinking skills to assess classes, materials, and programs, identifying training needs and making improvements as necessary.

  • Decision-making skills to select or create the best training programs for the organization.

  • Strong collaboration skills, working closely with staff, trainees, subject matter experts, and organizational leaders. Teamwork is a key aspect of the role.

  • Proficiency in instructional skills, understanding the fundamentals of teaching and lesson planning, as you'll also lead courses.

  • Leadership skills, engaging audiences through training with motivation, energy, and a customer service-oriented approach.

  • Flexibility to travel with limited notification due to the dynamic nature of the customer and mission.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the basic qualifications, the following skills and experiences are considered advantageous:

  • Experience in training within an on-the-job training model.

  • Experience in training individuals in technology.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,750.00 - $88,125.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
