Meaningful work is supported by benefits, flexibility and career pathways that help you grow while balancing life outside work.

This includes:

  • Wellbeing That Matters – Free access to Headspace and MeQuilibrium, plus dedicated wellness spaces to support your mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Learn Without Limits – Access over 120,000 on-demand courses, alongside technical, project management, leadership, and professional development opportunities.
  • Work That Makes an Impact – Contribute to nationally significant projects that matter, solve complex challenges, and accelerate your career through unique growth opportunities.

  • And Much More – These are just a few of the ways we invest in our people and help them thrive.

About the Team

You’ll join a team where people work with integrity, inclusion, innovation, agility, collaboration and commitment. In practice, that means sharing ownership, solving complex problems together and staying connected to the customer context, the purpose behind the work and how each role contributes to meaningful outcomes.

Mission Software Systems (MSS) brings together expertise across intelligence, software, and cloud to deliver end-to-end capability supporting the full intelligence lifecycle, from planning through to dissemination and feedback. The team fosters a culture of innovation, leveraging modern engineering practices and shared infrastructure to rapidly build, test, and deploy software solutions across a range of environments, including cloud. MSS also plays a key role in advancing technology modernisation within Government, delivering scalable and adaptable solutions for complex enterprise challenges.

The Opportunity

As a Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer, you will play a critical role in assuring the quality, compliance and performance of complex systems throughout the engineering lifecycle. Working closely with Systems Engineers, developers, cyber specialists and program stakeholders, you will help ensure that system and subsystem requirements are thoroughly verified, validated and traced through to successful delivery.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering teams to develop and execute verification and validation activities against system and subsystem requirements, ensuring solutions meet defined performance and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain V&V artefacts including test plans, test cases, Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), verification procedures and test reports to support end-to-end traceability and compliance.
  • Execute formal verification and validation activities, analyse results, document objective evidence and provide clear reporting to support system acceptance and capability delivery.
  • Contribute to Agile delivery practices, working within multidisciplinary teams to support adaptive planning, user story development and estimation activities while ensuring cyber security requirements, security hardening measures and ISM controls are effectively validated.

About You

You are a detail-oriented V&V Engineer who enjoys ensuring complex systems perform as intended and meet stakeholder expectations. You bring a structured approach to testing, verification and compliance activities and are comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality outcomes in a dynamic engineering environment.

Essential:

  • Experience working in verification and validation environments, including close collaboration with Systems Engineering teams on system and subsystem requirements.
  • Experience developing and documenting test plans, test cases, verification procedures and validation activities.
  • Experience executing test plans and test cases and assessing outcomes against defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience producing and maintaining verification artefacts including test reports, Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs) and supporting documentation at system and subsystem level.
  • Experience collecting, managing and documenting objective evidence to support verification, validation and compliance activities.
  • Familiarity with test management tools, including ETM or similar test execution and management platforms.
  • Knowledge of cyber security principles, security hardening practices and ISM controls, with experience supporting the verification of security-related requirements.
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence for planning, collaboration, reporting and documentation.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery programs, including adaptive planning, user story development and story point estimation.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and effectively to a range of stakeholders.

Advantageous:

  • Experience supporting V&V activities within Defence, Government or other highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with systems integration, acceptance testing and compliance assurance processes.
  • Experience working with requirements management and traceability frameworks across complex engineering programs.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering software, infrastructure and systems-based solutions.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold an NV-1 security clearance.

If this role interests you, we encourage you to apply. We value different experiences and are interested in the capability and potential you could bring.
