Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated co-op student to support track construction activities on railway, transit, or heavy civil infrastructure projects. This role provides hands-on experience in field inspections, construction documentation, quality control, coordination, and project closeout while working alongside experienced construction professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support track construction activities, including ballast, rail, special trackwork, and embedded track installation.
- Assist with field inspections and document track construction progress.
- Compile and maintain construction records, red-line markups, turnover documentation, and quality records.
- Assist with Construction Turnover Packages and project closeout documentation.
- Coordinate track construction activities with other project disciplines.
- Monitor construction progress and identify schedule impacts.
- Participate in quality inspections and corrective actions.
- Review drawings, specifications, and design packages.
- Assist with quantity tracking, material inventories, and reporting.
- Support safety audits and inspections.
- Track the procurement and delivery of track materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related co-op program.
- Interest in railway, transit, or heavy civil infrastructure construction.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Aconex, AutoCAD, or Primavera P6 is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence; Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) is acceptable.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is considered an asset.
