Test Architect

Location: This is a Hybrid role. Whiteley, Hampshire

Clearance Required: This role will require attainment and maintenance of SC clearance

We are looking for a Test Architect to join our team and help deliver a critical IT application and infrastructure solution.

In this role, you will lead the test strategy and help drive continuous improvement across our testing approach. You'll work closely with customers, delivery teams, and technical specialists to ensure quality is built into every stage of the programme.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex challenges, influencing best practice, and helping teams deliver high-quality outcomes. Whether your background is in systems integration, software delivery, or large-scale transformation programmes, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Test Architect, you will:

• Define and maintain the overall test strategy for the programme.
• Design test environments, test data, and supporting services needed for successful testing.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on testing, quality assurance, and acceptance activities.
• Support teams in establishing effective test approaches, standards, and best practices.
• Review and provide assurance for test plans and acceptance activities.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure business and technical requirements are fully covered.
• Identify and manage testing risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and opportunities.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and project teams to deliver successful outcomes.
• Promote modern testing practices, automation, and continuous improvement.
• Help ensure testing decisions support the successful delivery of the overall solution.
• Communicate effectively with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in people who can demonstrate many of the following:

• Experience developing test strategies and leading testing activities within complex programmes.
• Strong understanding of the full software testing lifecycle.
• Experience with both automated and manual testing approaches, including functional, non-functional, integration, and acceptance testing.
• Experience testing integrated solutions involving multiple applications, services, and third-party systems.
• Knowledge of modernisation and transformation programmes, including transitioning from legacy systems to new platforms.
• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at different levels.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A proactive approach to learning, improvement, and sharing knowledge.

Relevant testing certifications, such as ISTQB, are welcomed but not essential.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

• Experience working on complex systems integration or transformation programmes.
• Knowledge of data-intensive solutions and testing approaches.
• Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring team members.
• Experience implementing modern test automation frameworks and practices.
• Knowledge of Air Traffic Management (ATM) or similar operational environments.
