We are in the process of modernizing our entire product data platform, building scalable applications and services in the cloud. This is a team that’s always on the offense, working on innovative solutions and building world class solutions to serve Nike teams and consumers around the globe. We are looking for a seasoned technology leader who can lead the development of innovative platforms and services that enhance the purchasing experience and create exceptional consumer journeys before, during, and after every purchase. We are looking for a candidate who posess the below :

• A minimum of 14+ years software development experience

• 2+ years of demonstrated people management experience leading medium to large enterprise teams within a product-based organization is mandatory

• Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment. Independently drive end-to-end project execution—owning design, development, cross-team coordination, and delivery 

• Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g. AWS Services, GCE, Azure etc.)

• Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using Java/Javascript/Node.js/Spring Boot etc., is mandatory

• Demonstrate an AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI powered developer tools (e.g., Cursor) to accelerate development and learning. 

• Experience in Test automation & integration testing with frameworks like Junit, Mockito, cucumber, Playwright etc.,

• Experience with observability, monitoring and tracing tools like NewRelic, Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana etc.,

• Experience working with NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB and relational data stores like MySQL, Oracle etc.,

• Prior experience with implementing & leading customer relationship management solutions like Salesforce Service Cloud and consumer experience platforms like MyAccount, Chat, GetHelp, Self Service etc.,

• Have an in-depth understanding of the Order Management systems in the digital commerce and thorough understanding of relevant software like IBM Sterling.

• Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with globally distributed and diverse teams

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience

• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

• Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins) and engineering hygiene: GitHub workflows (branching, PR reviews, code quality, collaboration) and release readiness

• Experience delivering Generative AI–based solutions or projects

• Experience leading Full Stack engineers with strong expertise across both backend services and frontend web applications

• Nice-to-have : Exposure to eCommerce and Supply Chain domain areas like order management, fulfilment, and warehouse management

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As an Manager - Software Engineering, you will be part of the Shared Platforms Technology Engineering team within the Geographies and Marketplace Experiences (GAME) domain of the Global Technology team, that is responsible for building next generation tools and services that serve consumer driven platforms to Nike experiences and back-end teams. This role shall be part of a mission critical team focused on building a high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Order Management & Consumer Service platform that drives Nike’s Digital transformation and growth strategies.  

In this role, you will :

• Lead a medium to large team of engineers delivering critical, high-impact projects aligned to Nike’s key business priorities

• Participate in requirement gathering/elicitation, end to end solution design, development and delivery of consumer service application leveraging backend cloud native micro services

• Architect Scalable Solutions: Define technical strategies and design highly scalable backend systems and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies on AWS

• Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, advocating for best practices in coding, testing, and continuous delivery

• Contribute ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset management system and services

• Performance Optimization: Continuously evaluate system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to support large-scale inventory operations

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and other Engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps, prioritize deliverables, and align with business goals

• Coach and develop the talent: Conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback and help achieve career aspirations of the team members

• Partners with Technical Product Management and Business Product Management to ensure outcomes are aligned with Business expectations

• Lead the design and implementation of full stack solutions, partnering with Product Management, UX, engineering, and business teams to solve real-world problems and deliver scalable outcomes

• Translate complex business problems into practical technical solutions, balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, and user impact

• Define and influence application architecture, establish reusable patterns and standards, and make sound technical decisions that improve scalability, maintainability, and performance

• Contribute hands-on across the stack by building responsive frontend applications and robust backend services, while ensuring strong API contracts and system integration

• Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on solutions to validate ideas, reduce ambiguity, and accelerate delivery in evolving problem spaces

• Drive solution deployment in ambiguous environments, navigating changing requirements, cross-functional dependencies, and operational constraints to deliver measurable outcomes.

• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, mentoring, testing discipline, observability, and continuous improvement practices

• Proactively identify opportunities for modernization, innovation, and solution improvements by staying current with industry trends, tools, and architectural best practices

• Use your in-depth experience in software development to write clean, tested, and well-documented code, as well as perform peer code review process and mentor other engineers on the team

• Remain current with industry trends and participate in development of key innovation features

• Support the team’s agile practices, promoting continuous improvement and collaboration to deliver top-notch consumer experiences at scale

• Leverage GenAI powered capabilities (RAG, prompt driven workflows, MCP and spec driven architectures) to deliver faster, scalable, intelligent capabilities & experiences

• Ensure quality of the code and products throughout the entire development lifecycle (DevOps) 

• Ensure continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform

• Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery and continuous improvement

• Participate in sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies. Help team plan and execute sprint tickets

• Work in full DevOps model in the entire tech stack including designing, implementing, deploying, monitoring, and operating services at scale
