Support Center - Irving

Under the supervision of the Manager – Store Planning, the Sr. Set Up Specialist will create and execute a training program for all Set Up Specialists to create consistency among projects. The Sr. Set Up Specialist will set up new stores and work on special projects. The Sr. Set Up Specialist will perform procurement, accounting, store design, financial reporting and other related tasks.

Serve as subject matter expert in all Set-Up Specialist roles and NSO set-up processes.

  • Coach Set-Up Specialists on-site to ensure compliance with all processes.
  • Pilot test processes on-site and document results, issues, and solutions.
  • Create, execute, and document a training process to ensure consistent training for Set-Up Specialists in both Fixture and Merchandising.
  • Captain and lead projects in new formats and programs
  • Analyze challenges in the set-up process and  recommend improvements.
  • Review maps, freight processing prep, and fixture map reviews to support Set-Up Specialists.
  • Ideate new Smartsheet reporting, dashboards, or organization of information.
  • Participate in quarterly review of audit feedback of processes and improvement opportunities.
  • Captain interdepartmental recognition program to support and recognize outstanding work .

Be the Set-Up-Specialist on projects, with ability to flex between fixtures and merchandising roles fluidly to support other Set-Up Specialists on-site.

  • Planogram Execution – Train, supervise and inspect the setting of over 600 merchandise planograms.
  • Freight Flow – Execute department standards for truck processing.
  • Stocking – Execute training of the store team in the stocking, processing of overstocks and damages.
  • Directed Replenishment – Train and mentor the store team in the Directed Replenishment Process.
  • Store Completion – Train and observe the detailing of the sales floor in adherence with merchandise standards and visual guidelines.

Special Projects

  • Work closely with a Project Manager to understand scope and magnitude of remodel / relay / refresh projects, forecast payroll needs, and ensure timeliness of project completion.
  • Identify opportunities on store maps and address inconsistencies.
  • Partner with Project Manager to review blueprints and ensure proper fixture orders are placed.
  • Maintain a current matrix of fixtures by planogram.
  • Communicate with Team Members on site to resolve all fixture and equipment needs quickly.
  • Coordinate purchase orders in Oracle with multiple vendors and build a self-performing follow up system to track.
  • Orchestrate multiple schedules to ensure all vendor work is done at specified time.
  • Prepare financial reporting in Oracle.
  • Prepare and present budgeting and forecasting metrics for monthly meetings.

Minimum Education

  • High school  or equivalent

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Proficiency in Smartsheets
  • Proficiency in Oracle reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute projects on time in a highly changeful environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task on a high volume of projects.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills, with an ability to determine appropriate content & style for a diverse group.

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

  • 3+ years of experience working in new store set up procedures.
  • 2+ years of experience in store management at assistant level or higher
  • 2+ years of leadership and training experience in store management at assistant level or higher.
  • Experience with the policies, programs and procedures associated with the operation of a Michaels store
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Education

  • College Degree in related field

Preferred Type of Experience the Job Requires

  • 5+ years of leadership / training experience in store management at assistant level or higher.
