Our team in Ohio has delivered landmark projects such as the Ohio River Bridges Project and the I-69 Ohio River Crossing and recently the ODOT D4 Akron Beltway Design-Build project. Parsons is seeking a Director of Ohio Transportation Services to work alongside Todd Bergstrom, the current Vice President, to learn the role and then transition into Parsons Ohio Transportation Services Lead and will serve as the main point of contact with the Ohio Department of Transportation. Reporting to the Vice President, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the operational aspects of projects and staff. The successful candidate would take over as the face of Parsons with local clients and help pursue/win new work by proactively engaging and maintaining a visible presence with ODOT stakeholders.
You’ll benefit by becoming the main point of contact for Parsons in Ohio both externally and internally, and you’ll be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of projects, profitability and growth of the operation through winning new projects and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Additional responsibilities include leveraging key accounts, closely coordinating and collaborating across business lines, locally, regionally and even nationally, while providing innovative leadership. We have an established management and project delivery team that will support leadership initiatives and business imperatives.
This position will consist of a hybrid/remote work arrangement.
Director, Ohio Transportation Infrastructure Operational responsibilities
Technical discipline or service market that we perform professional services consists of:
Civil – Roadway, Drainage, Utilities, Traffic
Structures – Bridges, walls, and any other structure
Construction Services- Construction inspection and testing
Environmental/Planning- NEPA, Planning, Permitting
Roles and Responsibilities
Project Management
Responsible for revenue and gross profit for the Ohio region.
Responsible for cash management of Ohio projects and ensuring we get paid promptly.
Leads the contract management of Ohio based projects
Ensure we meet our deliverable schedules.
Ensures that quality management procedures are in effect for every project.
Ensures that Parsons’ safety procedures are in effect for every project.
Responsible for ODOT performance scores (CES) and strives for the highest scores.
Business Development
Responsible for the development of pursuit pipeline and mining opportunities for Ohio
Responsible for developing and executing the Win Strategy and leads Proposals for Ohio pursuits.
Use relationships with transportation agencies, state and local governments, elected officials, infrastructure owners, contractors, industry leaders, and organizations to identify and develop new opportunities.
Assist in major pursuits and capture efforts, including opportunity development, client engagement, teaming, win strategies, proposals, presentations, and negotiations. May serve as Capture Manager for a key pursuit.
Serves of main point of contact for various clients and carry out Client Management Plans.
Identifies business development opportunities and marketing events.
Maintaining relationships with other potential team partners.
Serves on a committee or board for professional organizations that meet our objectives.
Attend key conferences for networking and brand exposure.
Submits abstracts to key conferences and encourages presentations from staff.
Operations
Identifies the staffing plan for projects and pursuits
Identifies the need for new hires and serves as Hiring Manager for open requisitions.
Identifies strategic potential candidates to hire and lead recruiting efforts for these key Ohio hires.
Identifies and coordinates training needs and requests for their staff.
Develop career development plans with all direct and indirect reports.
Develops and leads a growth strategy to increase our market share and headcount.
Develops workforce forecasting to identify peaks and valleys of staffing needs.
Responsible for employee performance including recognition and disciplinary efforts.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring
4-year degree in Civil Engineering or related technical/business field.
Licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio, with considerable work experience in Ohio and/or neighboring states.
20+ years of managing diverse transportation infrastructure projects with a track record of successful delivery of ODOT projects.
Background in civil engineering with design of highway, bridge or traffic projects.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Experience leading and participating in business development activities.
