As a Delivery Manager within Asda Technology's Supply Chain Portfolio you will drive the successful delivery of complex technical solutions through waterfall and agile practices, ensuring quality, scalability, and alignment with business priorities. Scope can range from managing multiple deliverables across a product backlog to leading discrete project outputs, ensuring effective coordination across complex dependencies, stakeholders, and delivery timelines.

As a Delivery Manager, you should have the coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills required to deliver outcomes on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

What You'll Be Doing

Within Asda Technology's Supply Chain Portfolio there is a wealth of systems to support and iterate on, as well as some big projects to deliver Asda's Formula for Growth. We need someone that is cooperative, communicative, collaborative and above all a great team player to help us deliver these initiatives on time, to cost and to quality and ensure Asda' technology remains Silent, Stable and Secure.

At Asda Technology, we believe that every system runs, every project delivers and every person succeeds.

The role will involve the following but is wider than just words and tasks; it's about working with people and technology to make great stuff happen.

Managing the delivery of product and project initiatives within portfolios

  • End-to-End Delivery: Own the iterative delivery, deployment, and quality performance of multiple projects or products from inception to live operation.
  • Technical Leadership: Collaborate with Product Managers and project teams to translate priorities into actionable technical delivery plans and manage dependencies across squads.
  • Deliver facilitation: Remove blockers, and maintain focus on backlog priorities including features, technical debt, vulnerabilities, and bugs.
  • Dependency Management: Actively identifies and manages cross-team dependencies to enable delivery of outcomes on time.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Actively identifies and manages risks and issues, ensuring mitigation plans are agreed and executed.
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Work closely with development squads to ensure stories meet functional and non-functional requirements and align with architecture standards.
  • Vendor & Governance Management: Monitor vendor performance, ensure compliance with technology governance and quality standards, and manage commercials and cost efficiency for vendor services.
  • Transition to Live: Oversee smooth handover into production environments, ensuring scalability and serviceability.

Ongoing delivery support to contribute to continuous improvement

  • Continuous Improvement: Coach teams on delivery best practices and foster a culture of learning and efficiency.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Provide clear delivery updates, velocity tracking, and progress reporting to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Cross-functional working: Contribute towards improving working processes and governance to ensure Asda is a great place to deliver technology
