About the Team

You’ll join a team where people work with integrity, inclusion, innovation, agility, collaboration and commitment. In practice, that means sharing ownership, solving complex problems together and staying connected to the customer context, the purpose behind the work and how each role contributes to meaningful outcomes.

We deliver prime systems integration projects which build, develop and support military solutions for Defence. The team focuses on leveraging our local engineering, our services expertise, and global products to bring new capabilities to the Australian Defence Force.

The Opportunity

Leidos Australia supports the Royal Australian Navy’s Military Survey activity under the SEA1770 Rapid Environmental Assessment program, delivering critical hydrographic and environmental data that enables safe maritime operations in complex and often unknown environments.

As an Electronics Technician, you will play an important role in maintaining and supporting the advanced systems that underpin this capability. Working alongside engineers, technical specialists and Defence stakeholders, you will help ensure mission-critical maritime technologies remain reliable, compliant and ready for deployment.

  • Maintain and support a diverse range of maritime and defence technologies, including Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), hydrographic survey systems, communications equipment and supporting IT infrastructure.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities, fault finding, testing and system inspections to maximise equipment availability and operational readiness.
  • Contribute to configuration management, software and hardware updates, cyber-hardening activities, and the maintenance of technical documentation and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and Defence customers to resolve technical issues, coordinate maintenance activities and support the delivery of critical survey and environmental assessment capabilities to the Royal Australian Navy.

About You

You are an experienced electronics or technical maintenance professional who enjoys hands-on problem solving and takes pride in delivering reliable outcomes in operational environments. You bring a practical approach to maintaining complex systems and are comfortable working across electronics, communications and IT technologies while supporting critical customer requirements.

Essential:

  • Experience in electronics, communications, field service, technical maintenance, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues and perform preventative and corrective maintenance across electronic, communications or IT-based systems.
  • Experience managing maintenance schedules, technical work orders and compliance documentation within a structured operating environment.
  • Knowledge of configuration management practices, system updates, IT hardware support and software maintenance activities.
  • Experience maintaining technical records, quality documentation and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to support compliance and audit requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of maintenance activities through to completion.
  • Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the professionalism required to operate in a customer-facing Defence environment.
  • Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate Australian Government security clearance.

Advantageous:

  • Experience supporting maritime, defence, autonomous systems, hydrographic survey or mission-critical operational technologies.
  • Knowledge of cyber-hardening, system security practices or Defence engineering support environments.
  • Experience working with communications networks, embedded systems, sensor technologies or deployed technical equipment.
  • Familiarity with Defence, engineering, asset management or regulated maintenance frameworks.

This role requires the successful candidate to be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
