We have an exciting opportunity to join Four Seasons Hotel Toronto in our Food and Beverage division! The Stewarding Manager plays a critical role in managing a department in the heart of the hotel.  We are seeking an individual who is passionate for hospitality, looking for an opportunity to develop skills and looking to grow with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

The Stewarding Manager is a key role that oversees all facets of the Stewarding Department. In the Stewarding aspect of the role, the Manager ensures proper usage and preventative maintenance of all machinery and equipment used in both Departments and is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of inventory of supplies, to plan and budget for the purchasing of china, glassware, and silverware for the entire F&B division. The role plays an integral role working with the Culinary, Banquet, and entire Food and Beverage team.

Essential Functions

  • Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees in the Hotel’s Room Service and Stewarding Department to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met: long-range strategic planning for outlet operation.
  • The ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts.
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, inventory control and cost control measures
  • Observe physical condition of facilities and equipment in the outlet and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed. 
  • Ensure the organization and sanitation of all kitchens, storage areas, employee dining room, waste receptacle areas, compactor room, carts, tables, and Stewarding Department equipment and machinery through constant monitoring and adherence to a vigorous cleaning schedule. 
  • Ensure proper use and provide regular care, security and maintenance of machinery and equipment used in the Stewarding Department
  • Communicate with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met as well as attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments
  • The ability to work closely with the Executive Chef, Director of Food & Beverage, Banquet Chef, Banquet Manager, and Food & Beverage Outlet Managers to coordinate adequate supply and storage of china, silver, glass and other equipment used in service
  • Follow all EcoSure hygiene regulations and ensure compliance with Four Seasons policies

Key qualifications and skills

  • Bachelors Degree or College Diploma in Hotel Management / Restaurant Management preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Two to three years of progressive experience in a luxury hotel with experience in Food and Beverage or Stewarding strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing within a unionized work environment is an asset.  
  • Additional languages are an asset.
