The Human Health and Performance Contract supporting the Johnson Space Center is seeking a Project Safety Engineer to support NASA’s exploration projects in Houston, Texas.

This position provides safety engineering support to spaceflight hardware development projects by applying specialized engineering skills and knowledge. In this role, the candidate will conduct Hazard Analysis and Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and document results in the Spaceflight Safety Data Packages, Hazard Reports, Non-Compliance Reports, and FMEA Reports. Candidates will assure that hazards and their consequences are identified, evaluated, and controlled throughout all phases of the mission and that Programmatic Safety requirements are satisfied through the design and operation of Flight Hardware. The Safety Engineer represents the project and/or customer in outside discussions and technical forums while working under general administrative and technical supervision.

Additionally, the right candidate may provide engineering support for the development, fabrication, assembly, and testing of hardware.  This position may provide exposure to the quality process for the development or sustainment of controlled hardware, including the writing of Task Performance Sheet and disposition of Discrepancy Reports. The candidate may be responsible for reviewing and understanding engineering drawings as well as participating in hands on hardware development activities.
 

Effective communication will be a critical skill in working with the project, other project engineers, technical support staff, and quality engineering personnel. This position will require the candidate to multitask in an extremely busy and challenging environment while ensuring the delivery schedule expectations are met.

US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance are required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an Engineering discipline with 0-2 years of experience.

• Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing (MS Office tools)

• Ability to collaborate among team and as well as work effectively with minimal supervision
• Ability to develop and clearly communicate information to technical forums
• Ability troubleshoot hardware and perform root cause analysis

Pay Range:

Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00
