The Leidos Research Support Team supporting the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) is seeking a part time Graphical User Interface Designer to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA working approximately 20 hours a week. This opportunity will allow side by side execution of research with world-class scientists and engineers using state of the art equipment to contribute to new areas of basic and applied research. The work will involve a multidisciplinary team, participation alongside other engineers, physicists, and data scientists to help develop next-generation tools aligned to the priorities of the DOE Fossil Energy and Carbon Management mission space.  

Location: This position is onsite at the NETL campus in Pittsburgh, PA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) software for sensor prototype applications.
  • Collaborate with hardware design scientists to define GUI requirements and create advanced data processing, and visualization models.
  • Develop advanced algorithms for real-time data processing, and test in FPGA/Arduino evaluation boards. Testing and debugging designs to ensure they meet sensor pilot-scale testing requirements.
  • Create and deliver oral, and poster presentations of results in meetings and at technical conferences/workshops.
  • Effectively document and communicate scientific results through peer-reviewed journal manuscripts and technical reports.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Masters’ degree in embedded systems, computer science or other related fields.
  • Experience in embedded software development. (Python, Embedded C preferred).
  • Familiarity with Python libraries for GUI.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements for gaining access to work on the NETL campus
  • Previous software development experience is desired.

Hourly Range for this position: $38/hr to $40/hr

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
